I have been struggling with contacts for 5 years. They would tear the second I'd put it in my eye. I've tried all the brands out there and none have worked for me. I've had the doctor sit me down and inspect me to make sure I am putting them in and taking them out the right way. All confirmed I'm doing it correctly. So as of now no optometrist knows why my lenses keep tearing. Kind of scary! Wearing glasses is just not an option for long term use because they burn my eyes so severely. Plus driving is very difficult, having no peripheral vision. With all of this crap I dealt with for so long, I decided Lasiks was maybe my next option, so I scheduled an appointment with Lasiks Plus, Dr. Perry to get an idea of what this is.
I took time off work, came in for appointment, started out great! Very clean office, nice environment, pleasant workers, and everyone was smiling..... and then the ball drops.
There was a lady there (she worked there) that was wearing a blue skirt with a deep cut in the back. This cut was so deep that you can almost see her butt. I felt this was beyond inappropriate to dress like that for work at a doctors office; can't imagine how distracting this can be for male workers. No joke- if she bent over I would see everything! I mean I could barely stop looking. Anyways, they took me on back and started testing my eyes to see if I am a good candidate. The lady who was working with me can't remember her name, but she was fantastic, good bed side manners and made me forget all about the blue skirt lady. After testing was over they had me watch a video while my eyes dilated. Btw, they may or may not put numbing drops in your eyes too for some of the testing. Doesn't hurt, just feels weird.
Then, after the video was over that blue skirted lady came to take me to the doctor (lovely...). This wasn't Dr. Perry, this was Dr. Rainey. Apparently my doctor was performing cataract surgery and wasn't able to come in? Uh ok- so, I meet with Dr. Rainey and he tells me that my corneas are too thin and that I'd benefit a lot more from PRK. This made me nervous of course and unsure what to do going forward. He ended up taking pictures of my chart, all the pages, with his iPhone and then sent it over to Dr. Perry through text. So, not only am I unable to meet the surgeon whose going to have my vision/eyeball in the palm of his hand, but I'm waiting for a text to see what my future eye health holds from a surgeon I NEVER met! I mean this is just crazy to me. I want to meet the doctor who will be doing the surgery. I want to get a feeling of the doctor and see if i have a good feeling.
There were so many strikes, I don't even know where I'm at at this point. Near the end I tell him alright well I'm worried about the cost now, so he walked me over to scheduling/financing table and before I knew it... I was scheduled for next week. WHATTTT? I had this entire goal in my head created to save money and pay the entire cost up front and I walked out completely brainwashed and taken advantage of. I told them in the patient papers I was going to wait 1-2 months, which they ignored. I will give them kudos though, for being able to manipulate people into spending money. Oh- how these guys want your money bad!
Later that day it finally hit me what had happened. I called and cancelled right away and of course they weren't nice with me when I was cancelling, since they lost a sale.
They see patients as numbers and I don't like that, they make it too obvious. I also don't like that this surgery is just broadcasted to the world to see. What if the doctor gets distracted by someone by the glass wall? What if some kid runs up to the glass and starts banging on the glass wall and the doctor flinches? NO THANK YOU! read more
