My husband was treated in a most rude and unprofessional manner by multiple staff as well as by Dr. Churgin on his fifth and last visi.

It appears it is difficult for you to deal with legit questions from your patients. Your reply about how the portal operates is irrelevant. To reiterate my past post Medicare rules and laws are not meant to be adjusted by a doctor or any other institution. Per Medicare ...it manages a patient's yearly deductable, not the doctor. You required a payment from me in January instead of being processed by Medicare first. Medicare decides and manages the reimbursement to a doctor. I was overcharged $30 with your estimation of what you thought was due to you. I was never reimbursed the $30 overcharge till May when I communicated on Klara for different appointment where you were charging me over $700 instead of processing through Medicare first. Your staff said you do not give receipts to patients. I finally received a copy of a ledger(not a receipt) for my payment one month after my appointment. You were charging me for expensive eye drops that I research were taken off the market. I then gave you articles as proof on the removal of this product. You still insisted they were safe. Talking to my new eye specialists, it is common knowledge these drops are unsafe and removed from market. I was already dismissed by you but had remained persistent in getting answers, a receipt and money due back to me for charging me a lot of money for products that are considered not safe off the market. You did pay me back the $700. That is telling in itself. If you did not owe me the money you would have never paid it out. Your husband is your accountant. The Klara app is part of a secure, HIPAA-compliant medical record that is maintained for seven years. You DELETED our conversation from Klara. I have a copy of the whole message before you deleted because I suspected you would after what you wrote is conflictive and telling. You are very strict about ONLY communicating with patients through Klara. When I questioned on Klara about my payment and asking for a receipt but instead of replying on Klara you and your staff started calling me on my phone many times. I have the phone records. Instead of picking up the phone I communicated to you on Klara I would discuss the issues in writing ..not on the phone. The conversations were only through Klara......no abuse on my end. Remember you are the one that deleted the Klara HIPPA conversation. May future patients have their questions answered promptly without being dismissed, not given unsafe products that are off the market, not charged for payments upfront but have it processed lawfully by Medicare first which then also elevates overcharging a patient and not reimbursing them and lastly being treated with respect and honesty.

Sara at the front desk greeted me with the sweetest energy and left me feeling instantly welcomed--she really set the tone for the entire visit. Christine in the optics/eyeglass area went above and beyond, educating me on eyeglass options and suggested insightful questions to ask the doctor. She was equally a ray of light and made everything so much easier! Technician Jen, wow! What a standout--one of the most personable, validating, and humanizing medical professionals I've encountered. Her relaxed presentation, sense of humor, and kindness were so refreshing! She normalized every symptom I mentioned with humanness and playfulness. I felt such ease already in meeting Dr. Tran, knowing he must be amazing to have such incredible frontline staff. I was most definitely impressed. Dr. Tran was kind, professional, warm, and so encouraging. He put me at such ease throughout the exam. He was so attentive! He gave me his undivided attention and eye contact while his assistants Caitlin and Camilla entered notes. Just outstanding bedside manner!  He was quite the hoot in letting me know I was living on borrowed time having gone as long as I have without glasses into my mid-40's so to know glasses for the computer/work hours is all I need for now was the best news I could have asked for.  He was great about answering all my questions and made great recommendations for combatting dryness/strain on my eyes to preserve what I have longer.  When I scooted back to Christine to pick out my glasses and browsed frames while waiting, other staff walked by and complimented me simply on existing--such a rare, warm, friendly, and uplifting experience all-around! By the time I left, I felt like a million bucks, despite the (expected) sticker shock of new glasses! If all of this wasn't amazing enough, Jen complimented my long lashes and asked if they were real -- little did she know, that was the best thing she could have said to me! They are real and my own lashes, thanks to the Lash Boost serum I sell, use, and absolutely swear by, and compliments on my lashes are such joyful surprises! For anyone curious or wanting to share in the magic, here's the link: https://4anewyou.myrandf.com/en-us/category/lash-serum-and-eyebrow-tint. Heads-up for anyone getting a refraction: it's a surprisingly funny and slightly disorienting experience to have everything up close suddenly go blurry -- while still seeing far enough to drive just fine! Note to future me (and maybe a chuckle for the staff!): once the blur sets in, trying to read or sign anything feels like a game of "guess what that says!" All part of the fun, right? I have to say...in my past life, I would teach medical students that the people you hire as your frontline staff are absolutely a representation of what patients will expect from you as a provider. It informs how you will likely treat and care for your patients' experience. Well, this absolutely came to life thru this experience. The customer service at Horizon Eye Specialists off Allied Way in N. Phoenix is truly impeccable, and one of the best medical experiences I've ever experienced! Well done team!
