Kalia is a lovely person & appears to be very skilled. In fact - my review is for an experience from February (nearly 7 months ago) because I wanted to make sure I gave an informed, well balanced review - so here goes: The location - The location is inside a salon on Roswell Street - very small salon & very tiny parking lot - almost obliterated by what appears to be a used car lot (unsure) - so its easy to miss. The salon is an open air salon - which means there are no walls / door to block your service area and you can hear and smell everything going on while you are getting your lashes done - but 1) there was only one customer being serviced during my visit - and though they were loud and chatty the entire time - it wasn't super obnoxious and 2) Kalia's service area is in the salon rear, so you do have a sense of privacy. No stars deducted for this The customer service (during) - A little background on me - with my family commitments and workload - I really have let things slide when it comes to my personal appearance, let alone pampering myself and getting dolled up for the SO. For that reason - I decided to pull out all the stops for Valentines Day. That meant - a trip to the stylist for a cut and color, a visit to the nail salon, wax salon, you name it. I had never had lashes applied before (professionally or the inexpensive at home strips or individuals) and was worried about looking 'overdone.' So in that vein - I was very worried before our meeting - because we never actually had the chance to speak via phone so that I could discuss my desired look. She works A LOT & tends to be reachable via text only. So my questions / appointment scheduling were all done via text. Once I arrived - I had a great experience during the visit. After blocking out the semi-loud conversation between the stylist and her 1 customer (up front) - I found Kalia to be warm, funny and down to earth. She appears to be beautiful person (both inside and out). She was EXTREMELY thorough and presented me with photos and policies before we began. I wasn't crazy about my brow tinting - but that's more of personal preference thing. I loved the look of my lashes though. They gave me the exact look I'd hoped for - natural looking but still voluminous. 5 star experience The customer service (after) - Here's where it gets hairy. I lost a good bit of lashes that first night and I work nights - so this was before a shower or sleep - and I texted her (with pics) to inform her. She said losing some lashes the first night was normal. Let me be clear - she did indicate at this point that I could come back in that next day - that evening - but I couldn't because I was going out of town at noon to take care of something for my elderly parent - under no circumstances could I reschedule. And because of the holiday (Valentine's Day) she was not available to have me back in that morning or any other time during her customer satisfaction window. Over the next 48 - 72 hours (2 - 3 days) the lashes on the left side of my left eye fell out an alarming rate. I kept Kalia informed & I exchanged SEVERAL dozen text messages and pictures (posted here) after that. And she was respectful during these exchanges - but stood by her position that A) her lashes and glue were not the issue - and B) that 'lashes were not for everyone' and C) that her policy (which I signed) indicated that I had to come back in within a certain window of time to get my lashes filled in if I experienced problems (even though BOTH of our schedules - my going out of town / her heavy booking due to Valentine's Day - made this impossible.) But here's why I decided to write a review. Since my experience with Lashout! - I've had my lashes done again. Won't mention the salon name here - for fear that it might seem as though my review was written to garner business - and pull business away from Lashout! During the first week of July (for upcoming bday), I had my lashes done again at a different salon (second time ever in life) and after that service - even though around the second week - I had pretty much abandoned all the aftercare instructions - my lashes were still full & glorious. I washed my face, rubbed my eyes, you name it (because I was birthday was over and wasn't worried about looking cute - lol) and these lashes stayed on. My lashes still looked pretty good even at the 4 week mark and my final final lashes hung on until around the 6 week mark (though they looked pretty crazy at that point - I was afraid to pluck the final few stragglers). Wrapping up - I know - I will probably get a snippy, snarky, condescending (I'm high maintenance - or you can't please everybody, etc), response from Kalia - and my review will probably get flagged by the formidable LashOut! fan club - but I felt compelled to post this review now that I've had the opportunity to get my lashes done elsewhere. I HAVE never had someone cancel an appointment on me TWICE! The first time she cancelled the DAY of due to family emergency. I understand stuff comes up so I rescheduled. Then she cancelled the night before my "makeup" appointment.....the day before my vacation! Didn't offer a discount or nothing. Put me in a bind......I COULD HAVE FOUND SOMEONE ELSE! I started going to Kalia about 2 months ago. I went to her for my initial full set of lashes and 2 fill ins. Her space is cool and clean and I think she does a good job with lashing overall. She seemed very sweet and held good convo. I will say that I paid $250 for a full set which now I believe was too high. She also doesn't have online booking which makes it difficult to schedule with her. My 4th lash fill appointment with her never happened because when I arrived at my scheduled time she was not there. She never responded to my text or answered the phone! Very bad customer service, which was surprising to me. We exchanged a few text messages earlier that day where I said that I may need to cancel my appointment and for her to check for other times. I also told her if she didn't have other times that I will still come for my scheduled appt. After I blew her phone up while knocking on the shop door she finally responded via text and apologized but never provided me with another booking time. She even got defensive and maybe mad that I called her out. It's been 2 weeks and she still hasn't contacted me smdh. I had to book with a new lash stylist and pay for a soak off and new set!! I can tell you that I loved how I looked in them. The pictures turned out great. I think they make me look sexier and beautiful. I have more confidence. No lie. I just didn't like how it felt on me. They made my eyes itch and felt so heavy and thick. Plus within a week, they fell off. I vouch to never do it again. So after 5 years, I still was iffy. What made me finally decide to do it again is because of Kalia. Not only is she affordable and much cheaper than others out there. She takes her time and work on each individual lash! Seriously. I made an appointment 1 week in advance. Once I arrived at the shop, she decided she did not want to do extensions and proceeded to find a reason to say she could not provide service. I do not have thick lashes, so this is why I wanted extensions. She said I have bad news, we can't do bottom lashes because you did not confirm when scheduling. I reminded her that she confirmed the night before when she texted me at 11:45pm. I said that's okay because it may have been issue anyway because I I have never had them and my eyes are sensitive. She then said well if that's the case, you have an attitude and I am uncomfortable now....I believe she was uncomfortable with her skill level...her own set of lashes looked rather clunky and overdone. Where do I even begin?! Kalia is the ABSOLUTE BEST lash artist in Atlanta!!! She's not your usual nail salon lash lady (no offense because they have their own clientele)... but once you go to Kalia... there's no going back! I've been getting my lashes done for three years now.. I've been to 4 different lash artist and I've never been so happy with my experience with Kalia. Since my very first appointment she's done an amazing job and worked with me to find the perfect length for my lashes. My girl Kalia's work is just phenomenal! You wake up like flawless! I've never had extensions on before but I can definitely say that it's a keeper! I wanted something that I can find time, money, and maintenance on. Honestly, it is something you have to find time for but you get what you pay for. I'm extremely overjoyed with my lashes. I've had lash extensions before and the tech did a good job and i loved them. But every week or two I'd have to fight the urge (and sometimes give in) to wear mascara or eyeliner just to have a little more definition - especially if the extensions were starting to shed. Kalia is one of a kind when it comes to fitting extensions on *every* lash; her meticulous work is triple the volume and double the length of any of my previous extensions. I avoid eyeliner constantly now because it'd cheapen the gorgeous definition I get from her work. It's nuts. If you love dramatic lashes, she's your girl. (If you check out her Instagram you'll see lovely subtle, natural lashes too, but she's just on another level for long, lush styles.) And they're soft and they *last*. I'm two weeks out from a fill right now and I had to text this very afternoon and ask for a week-long extension of my next fill appointment because I still had plenty of lashes! August-in-Georgia, sweat-in-your-eyes, swim-in-the-pool lashes. Incredible. Did I mention that bottom lashline extensions are complimentary if you request them? Who *does* that for their clients? I've been wearing lash extensions for 5 years now and I must admit that Kalia is amazing at what she does! I am extremely picky about my lashes and I spent over 3 months following Kalia on instagram to preview her work before I booked an appointment. My only regret is that I didn't book her sooner! I LOVE my lashes so much I can't stop looking at them. I am usually a very loyal customer. I went to my lash girl in Seattle for 3 years before I moved to Georgia. I then spent a TON of money and found a girl that I've been going to for 2 years here in Georgia, but Kalia will be my lash girl from now on. ;) BTW, having lashes for the past 5 years, I recommend going with the Russian volume. I've been doing classic sets for so long now and can't seem to get the look I want since I don't have a lot of lashes. I had an appointment this morning to get a lash fill. The lash technician Kalia(sp) did not show to my appointment, neither would she answer my call or texts. This would have been my 2nd visit to her. When I texted to see if she was coming or needed to reschedule, she read the texts because her text notifications showed. Smh. I wish I had known that I wasn't going to be valued as a customer because I would not have made the investment of $175 plus a $35 tip. This is crazy seeing how she told me when I needed to return and made the appointment herself. It is very unfortunate I traveled to her wasting time, and gas when all it would have taken was a simple call or text to cancel or reschedule. Also, I referred my roommate to her for an appointment and she was 45 minutes late for her, and didn't offer any compensation. Run, don't walk! Okay text Kalia, now- and make your appt- ....I'll wait! She fills up in advance for a reason, we (her regulars) LOVE her. I've tried the mascaras, the cheap ones, the expensive ones and all the in between it's not the same. Strip lashes-are temporary- you still have to apply them, good luck- I'm over here looking like I've got a bad wig on my eyelids- no thanks! Lash extensions I wake up and I look alive, I look like I did something- and I didn't, it's my fabulous lashes! She offered me a fantastic "first-time customer" deal and I couldn't be happier with the service and quality I received - especially for how affordable her rates are. I've had lash extensions done several times with Kalia so I speak from experience. She is AMAZING and her work is PHENOMENOL!!! I always forget I have lash extensions because she makes them feel so natural. She's super sweet and always makes you feel comfortable when she's working on you. She's meticulous with those individual lashes and never rushes through her work. Her schedule is flexible enough to accomodate just about everyone (although there have been times I couldn't get in because she was booked out several weeks in advance- she's in high demand) and her rates are very reasonable. I don't wear make-up hardly ever but I still want to feel and look pretty and her lashes does just that for me. My lashes usually last 6-8 weeks (but keep in mind that I don't wear eye make-up so that's why mine last longer than normal). I had my eye lashes extended today. They look wonderful! Kalia took her time in doing my lashes and they look natural and flattering. I am from out of town and saw her ad and the great reviews on Yelp. I am blonde with a bunch of blonde lashes but putting mascra on them makes them look clumpy. The lashes Kalia uses made my eye bigger and "more wake looking". I will be in town every 2 weeks and I plan to have her touch them up when I am in town. They look so natural.
