When I first came to this place I was inclined to like it. The people that work there are nice, and they gave me a great deal on doing 6 full leg laser hair removal sessions. I definitely learned a lesson in you get what you pay for! I did 6 full leg sessions and barely saw any results. I did laser hair removal before on 2 other body parts at a different place and saw incredible results after 4 sessions and didn't even need 6. I tried this place because it was significantly less expensive but I wish I had gone back to my original place. What I think is deeply concerning is that they will not give you your medical records. I am going to another place to continue laser hair and they told me to bring my records from the last place so they can see what type of laser they used and what settings. I called and spoke to the owner who said they don't normally release records but he would speak to the doctor and see. He gave me his cell phone number and told me to text him my information, so I did. I never heard back so I followed up 3 times and got no response (see screenshot below of my messages). Since a doctor is performing the procedures, I should have access to my records per HIPAA. Their refusal to release them makes me very concerned about the quality of the laser they use, especially since I didn't see any results. This should be further looked into in my opinion. I waited until my final session of 6 to write my review just to see if my experience would ever be like some reviewers who had bad encounters but I have never once received anything but great customer service and professionalism from both Dr. Thomas and Keith. My Service: 6 Sessions of laser hair reduction on lips, underarms, lower legs, and brazilian. My Experience: My first consultation w/ Dr. Thomas was informative and helpful. She brings you in a room, shows you the different stages of hair and aftercare. I stopped shaving my underarms, pubic area, and legs after my 3rd treatment but saw a difference after my 2nd treatment. I was consistent in all my appointments and scheduled with Keith 5 weeks out at each session. I may have had better results because I had laser removal while on, or directly before/after my cycle (TMI I know) but Dr. Thomas will explain more about this during your consultation. Logistics: They are located in a small plaza where parking is free and easy to come by. They are adhering to CDC guidance and take your temperature before entering the facility... the doors are locked but Keith quickly comes to greet you with a thermometer and hand sanitizer. Sessions: My sessions were quick, about 15mins each time, if that. I didn't feel any pain however, I do have a high tolerance for pain (had a birth naturally w/o pain meds). While waiting at my first appointment I did hear another young lady in some discomfort so that scared me at first but all my sessions were fine even as they cranked up the laser as I progressed in my sessions. Professionalism: Dr. Thomas learns her patients and makes you feel comfortable. She and I spoke about stocks and other financial ventures each time (I'm an Accountant). Side Bar: After my last session, she called me to apologize for not walking me over to Paris Spa Bar (a hair salon in the same plaza) to introduce me to the owner... I told her I'm natural and loved her Keratin so she was willing to go over and beyond to connect me to the owner. However, another client walked in and I knew she had to address them so it was fine but she took time to call me and say sorry and give me the owner's personal number. Never once did she say, oh, tell them I recommended you- so I knew it wasn't a hidden agenda just another sistah helping out another. I plan to be back next year for my lower arms and thighs. My husband loves the results. My legs are smooth and my "kitty kat" has a landing strip. The hair around it never grew back after session 3 but the landing strip has hair that's constantly growing... which I wanted (didn't want to be completely bald down under... TMI again, my bad). I have been going to Laser Essential for 4+ years now. Honestly, doing laser treatment was one of the best investments I made for myself. I started when I was a young professional and couldn't afford the crazy pricing that some other places offered. I looked into Laser Essential and spoke to them about pricing and they basically customized a packet for me that addressed my areas of concern in the budget I could afford. Moving forward to now, they have moved into a new office but the service from Keith and Dr. Thomas remains as exceptional as ever. They are always so sincere. They genuinely care about individuals and your well being. Some people have stated the rigidness of the business, which I don't find to be true as long as you're punctual and polite. They are fairly accommodating as long as you give them enough notice, which any business requires nowadays. I am always punctual but when I completely forgot my appointment one busy Saturday, Keith called me and simply rescheduled me for the following weekend. Don't waste your time or money here. Male receptionist is full of himself and thinks he is doing you a favor. Despite of having an appointment at noon, they weren't ready for my treatment. Male receptionist was extremely rude and started screaming at me just because I made a comment about the delay on my treatment. He has zero inter personal skills and costumer service. I don't do business with people that think they are doing you a favor when you actually paying a lot for a service. The environment was always immaculately clean and very welcoming. Dr. Thomas is very thorough and patient in administering the services rendered. I waited until my last treatment to write my review. I highly recommend Laser Essential - to Black and Brown folks in particular. I am a dark-skinned Black woman who had terrible past laser experiences at another company, where I came away with ineffective treatment (numbing cream for 30 minutes prior, still painful as hell AND I got minor burns). Once I found Laser Essential, probably a year and a half ago, there was no turning back. I got my underarms done and a Brazilian. The laser machine Dr. Thomas uses works wonders on Black skin. No burns! I sat through each session (usually 15-20 minutes) without pain or breaks. MOST importantly, my underarm hair is still gone (6 treatments each underarm). My bikini area is hairless, and my dark spots have lightened a bit in that area (I needed 12 sessions in this area). Dr. Thomas makes suggestions on before- and after-care. Pay attention and you'll have wonderful results. Scheduling is easy and my appointments were on-time. Pricing is fair, especially for the painless experience and the excellent results. They offer specials every now and again and I jumped on one that offered nice savings. I also enjoyed chatting it up with Keith before each session. Where do I begin? 1st- I read the reviews and did not want to believe them. I expressed my interest in being contacted three Yelp. When Keith called me I expressed to him what are I was interested in getting laser hair removal under my arms and asked if I could schedule a consultation. That was the first red flag that I should have just hung up the phone. He was very abrasive and unprofessional over the phone. He reluctantly gave me an appointment. I arrive about 20 mins late (it was storming outside) I apologized for my tardiness and Keith comes around from the desk and again badgers me about what questions I have. I again tell him that I prefer to speak to the dr or whoever is doing the treatment. He insists I talk to him. I ask him why is it so hard to just get a consultation. He flips out on me and responds "you come in here late and expect the dr to just stop what she's doing?" I raise my voice and say " I never said that and I was willing to wait , but never mind I'll just leave" I can't remember what exactly he said but it was very rude and condescending. I was almost out the door but turned around to give him a piece of my mind and the whole thing went from 0-60. A woman came out and tries to quiet things down, but it was clear she had no control over her employee. He had something to say to everything as I was trying to explain to her what had just transpired. She borderline took his side. I eventually left once I saw I was just wasting my time and energy. I came across Laser Essential through the reviews on Yelp. The facility was closer to me (Silver Spring, MD) and the prices were reasonable. I called and spoke with Dr. Thomas who is one of kindest and sweetest individuals. She walked me through the process, what to expect and their appointment policy (calling 2 days before the desired date). Following the instructions, I called and spoke with Keith who was very pleasant and put me down for a Saturday afternoon session. On the day of the appointment, I was running a little late due to traffic and called to let the staff know I'd be a few minutes late. Keith was very gracious and accommodating and reassured me that it was fine and to get there when I could. Upon arrival, I was welcomed, met the staff and filled out the necessary paperwork. Word of advice, book the package sessions in person; Keith offered me a GREAT deal! Dr. Thomas took her time answering my questions and went over the Laser machine, how it works, what it would feel like ...etc. And then it was time! She performed the Laser treatment all the while checking on me to see if I was doing fine. At the end, she applied a topical cream on my face with instructions for after care. Went here for a 6 visit package of underarm & leg hair removal. 6 weeks after completing the treatments I'm back to about 70% of my original hair growth (the best results I had during treatment were about 50%). Not sure if it was the equipment or my hair (I'm Portuguese - Italian but have fair hair and light complexion). That said, the overall experience was okay. Dr. Thomas was always super nice and told great stories which helped take my mind off the zapping :) -1 star since I didn't have lasting results -1 star because scheduling was always sort of a nightmare. They use a pen and paper scheduling system, and I had several appointments and cancellations that were noted incorrectly which was frustrating, and the front desk guy always blamed me first before finding his mistake and then wasn't ever apologetic for the mixup. read more

When I went in for my first session, they had me wash my face to clean the area, lasered my upper lip about 3-4 times and a cream was put on me as Dr. Thomas informed me about taking precaution after treatment. For my second visit, it was a similar routine except they lasered about 8 times, going through my upper lip area more thoroughly. For my 3rd visit, they didn't have me wash my face, Keith literally just did 3 laser zaps and had me leave without the cooling ointment Dr. Thomas usually put on. I usually don't leave reviews, but i had to because I'm too pleased with the final outcome. I just finished 6 sessions with Keith. I had full Brazilian, my stomach, and underarms done. Before starting treatment, I had ingrown hair scars and discoloration in all 3 areas (from years of waxing). I shared my concerns with Keith before my first session and he guaranteed that there would be improvement. Today, I don't have a single ingrown hair and the discoloration has completely disappeared (with the help of exfoliating and skin care). I no longer grow hair on my underarms and stomach, and had a major reduction in my Brazilian area. People say that beauty is pain, and that may be the case - but not here! I walked in today hoping to get some treatment for my sunspots/freckles before my wedding later this year. Since I have fair skin, I was a good fit for IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). It was a pretty penny at $479, but considering that I felt little to no pain during the process, I think it was worth it. I've gotten laser resurfacing in Korea, and while that was a lot cheaper, I was walking around with a couple burn marks, scabbing for a couple weeks, and a lot of pain during/after the treatment. I don't know how my face will turn out after IPL (my first time trying it), but hopefully, some of my sunspots, if not all, will be gone. I will be sure to update this review when that time comes! MUST READ: Okay sigh- I initially came to Laser Essentials because it was close to home and inexpensive. Reviews on yelp were mediocre, but I thought I would give it a try since I felt the need for laser hair removal. During my first set of 6 appointments, I noticed a laid back vibe, specifically from Keith. He was kind, but I could feel his unprofessionalism as I walked in the door and he was smoking vape. I didn't pay attention to it because he did a good job in removing my hair, but with each encounter to follow, I noticed a trend in the language he spoke to me. He was too comfortable, which came off rude and unprofessional. Some people might accept that, but I believe in a medical establishment having more professionalism than that. When calling to schedule my second set of appointments, he mentioned that prices went up. I casually asked why they did, and he rudely responded "Hey, if you don't want to pay that amount you don't have to come here. You can go somewhere else." I thought this was very rude, but stated that I was interested in still coming because of the location's convenience. Now to the real stuff- I set up my first treatment and it went well. Keith told me that he wanted me to come in on a day that I was on my menstrual cycle. My period is usually like clockwork, so I set it up in confidence. Mother Nature had different plans, and I was 3 days late. Anyway- I called them on the day I had set up my appointment, reminding him of his request. He replied in a kind manner, stating that he would go ahead and cancel, and not charge me $50 which I thought was really helpful. HOWEVER, later that day Dr. Thomas gives me a call and leaves me a voicemail 13 minutes after my cancelled appointment time, saying that I was wrong for not coming in and that it was "unfair". She mentioned that I had to pay $50 for not showing up, as well as not allowing me anymore 8 pm appointments. I called back right away, Keith answered, and I reminded him of me calling and cancelling that same day. He replied "Oh that was you?! Whoops, my bad I guess I didn't write it down." I let it slide, but said "I hope this does not reflect poorly on my character because I never 'not-show' for an appointment." He questioned my statement in a rude manner, and proceeded to say that I should call back when I get my period. So yesterday, I got it, called him immediately, and made an appointment for today at 11:30. I get to Laser Essentials at 10 minutes before my appointment time and the door is locked. Lights off, everything. I called Keith, and he says he is just now puling up. He comes in, on the phone, apologizes for his lateness with a hug, and proceeds to converse with the person on the other end of the phone. Time goes on, it's now 11:40, and he is still on the phone. I tell him I have to be somewhere (because we all have lives), and remind him that my appointment time is 11:30. I tell him he is being unprofessional, which triggers him to get off the phone. He addresses my comment about his unprofessionalism by stating "Now, what did you say about my unprofessionalism?!" We get into an argument about this, because I refuse to pay money to a facility that treats me poorly, does not plan ahead, and keeps me on edge. I won't go into details about the argument...but while he was getting my file, I could hear him say "let me let you get the *** out of here". He attempted to try to get me to make another appointment, even though I drove all the way there today, but I refused and wanted my money back. He did not agree initially, so I told him I would take it legally. He then smugly responded saying "Go ahead, take it legally. I could care less." He finally wrote me a check for my money back, because he could tell I was not playing. I went straight to the bank and cashed that bad boy! IN CONCLUSION: I'm sure people have had great experiences with this company, and I am happy you did because that's what you are paying for. Everyone deserves to be treated respectfully and with professionalism. This is nothing to say about the quality of the laser hair removal, because they really did help me. BUT, I rather go to a more expensive place that is located further away, then to be treated this poorly. Their lack of communication, nonchalant attitude, and unprofessionalism does not make me feel comfortable in allowing them to use a laser close to my face.
