I had a molcajete type plate at another Mexican restaurant, and I was excited to try this place's iteration of it. It was pretty decent with tons of meat. So much that I couldn't finish, and my husband was happy to pick off my plate and then also the leftovers we took home. But I do love the experience of getting the food in the sizzling hot stone. I especially love the little bits of cheese that get melted onto the stone. The atmosphere and food are those of your typical Mexican restaurant. Come check it out and try a new dish!

Walked in and was sat within 10 mins. Busy Saturday night. The atmosphere was very nice. All the booths are painted and murals all over. Very clean. Salsa was very fresh. The cheese dip was tasty. I ordered a taco and cheese quesadilla just to try what they had. Both were so good. The shell was fresh and crunchy. My husband ordered the carnitas dinner. Upon first look it seemed like a small portion. He ended up having some left over. Pepsi products and Big red plus they have . I had a amaretto sour. Mmm Recommend and we will be back!

Street tacos, empanadas, quesadillas Tortas, burritos and tamales- I think that is the whole menu. No Tex mex, no chimichangas, no Speedy Gonzalez special- this is more authentic. In fact, the waitress/cashier was the only other person in the building that spoke ANY English- including other patrons. Is this fancy? Nope. Is it clean? Yup. The shrimp street tacos were the best food in our opinion- tied with the chips and salsa. Also had carne asada and chorizo tacos and Burria empanadas and the shrimp was the best. Entire restaurant and bathrooms are handicap accessible, but this place is not right next to parking. It is in a little outdoor mall area, at the back, so you'll need to park and go maybe 100-150 yards to the door. If you need fried ice cream and a mariachi band, you need to stop elsewhere, but if you are looking for good quality, authentic food for a really reasonable price- this is it.

Mis Amigos lies solidly on the exceptional end of the spectrum. Service: excellent. The owner was serving as host, and clearly cares about his staff, even driving them to and from work regularly if transportation is an issue. Our server was efficient, knowledgeable, and got every custom order completely correct. Food: chips and salsa - yes. I judge Mexican places on their salsa, and Mis Amigos sailed through with a beautiful specimen - just the right amounts of heat and acidity. The menu is huge - definitely sometimes for anyone, regardless of food preferences and whims. There were no vegan options that spoke to me, so I ordered a custom vegan quesadilla with beans rather than cheese, filled with grilled veggies, and topped with guacamole instead of sour cream. Yes yes yes. Pricing: reasonable, especially keeping in mind portion sizes (very generous). Mis Amigos - thank you for giving me another reason to travel through (and to) Brownsville.
