Simple, delicious tex-mex fare. Large portions, very reasonable prices, and friendly staff. Couldn't ask for a better local joint.

Just passing through the area, my wife and I checked Yelp to see where a good spot for dinner would be. After checking the reviews we decided on this place. So happy we did! Probably some of the best Mexican food we've had north and east of El PasoTX and Costa Mesa CA! Start off with margaritas. I went for the top shelf and my wife for their regular. Must say the top shelf margarita had some terrific flavors! We also ordered the chunky guacamole to go with the chips and salsa. The chunky guacamole is the way to go! For our main courses, my wife decided on the Los Yolanda's (really chicken enchiladas) while I decided on their Carnitas platter. Our dishes came out surprisingly fast and were truly delicious! We were talked into an order of fried ice cream for dessert, again happy that we did as it was very yummy! An unexpected treat of complementary tequila shots and celebration of Cinco de Mayo was also truly appreciated. We did like the decor having a nice flare. We were so happy that many of the wait staff stopped by our table to ensure all was good. If we visit again, I'm sure we'll stop by! Keep up the great work! read more

The food was good I'll admit that but $75 for three people (including tip) is kinda dumb but oh well, i did the math and it added up. The thing that pissed me off was how they still asked for a tip after because someone else didn't tip them. If someone isn't going to tip you maybe ask them about it (if you can) and not have other people make up for their tip. The food might've been good but it's good enough to cost that much or to ask for extra tipping. read more

The best guacamole I've had in years. So good! Fish tacos were also excellent! Server was attentive and efficient. Restaurant is clean. I would happily come back. Very good! The initial salsa was interesting, but not bad. My daughter's cheeseburger was what I expected in a Mexican restaurant. They even had good quality bun for it. My husband enjoyed his enchiladas. The horchata had a different flavor, I'm not sure what else was added, but I should have read the menu before ordering it because 32oz was a lot and it has a soda type taste. Large portions - enchiladas supremas has five - one of each kind (bean, cheese, beef, chicken and shredded beef) and the carnitas were great. Shrimp in the quesadilla was slightly overcooked and the horchata (32 oz in cold mug!) was a bit sweet for me (prefer more balance with cinnamon). Still not enough to ding a star. Maybe quieter and more attention from staff vs. the competition down the street. read more

Margarita (20 oz.) was huge and pretty good. I ordered the la favorita plate because it didn't look like a typical Mexican dish and it had a lot of veggies. It was quite tasty but I'm not sure that I would consider it a Mexican dish. Having said that, there was a hair in my dish that I discovered several bites into the meal. Also, the hair was short and curly! When brought to their attention, they offered to make me another plate which I accepted but didn't adjust the bill. The service was on point and the ambiance is definitely casual. I ate lunch at 1:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon during football season and it was not at all busy. Had I not discovered the hair, I would give it a solid 4.3/5 rating but clearly it needs to be adjusted. read more

The food was for the most part was very good, however the taco salad was served in a stale and rancid taco shell, that's why the 3 star rating. Most of the staff/servers were excellent, one gentleman was a bit feisty while taking our order, not necessary, why ruin a good thing you all have going on there. We were looking for a local restaurant while staying at an RV park down the road and were amazed by the food and service at this restaurant. The food portions were enormous and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. We ended us going twice over a 7 day stay because it was so good. This restaurant is awful. I went there for Karaoke on Tuesday night and the sound was horrible. Worst sound I have ever been too. Food was cold, small portions. Waiter was EXTREMELY rude. Walked in and he pointed at a table, unsure of what he wanted, we stood there waiting to be taken to a table. He then snapped at my daughter to "GO!" When we sat down, he immediately walked away when we didn't know what we wanted to drink. When he finally came back, I asked if they had Pepsi or Coke products, and he proceeded to say, "it's in the menu", without answering the question. I flipped through the menu pages to find where it said, and he walked away again because it took me more than a second to respond. Finally when he came back to order, the menu clearly states lunch hours are noon-3. We were there at 2. My kiddos and I had decided on a lunch #, and he snapped that we couldn't have those because they are m-f. I said that it doesn't say that anywhere on the menu, and he kept saying no, you can't have those. So we ordered big dinners when we weren't looking to get big dinners. Been there a few times before for karaoke seen the manager Joel serving shots to minors. Would not recommend going for drinks if you come back for food you will not get service, smell was also bad or smelled like old food or trash water overflowing in the bathroom and it smelled like the sewer throughout the restaurant. Drinks are some times flat asked for extra limes for my beer because there was only one and I never got the limes. Honestly don't know how this place ever made it to a 4 star rating all together prices are way higher than any other Mexican restaurant taxes are a lot especially the $3.98 taxes plus other tax that was unnecessary our taxes were $ 7.00 and we only spent $20.00 something. Disappointing from the moment we entered. I'm not sure what the other reviews were talking about with regards to the food and service, but it was all terrible. The poor server was brand new on her third day of work and trying to finish out a party of 30 while taking us on as well. I thought she was alone at first but another party was seated and another server appeared out of nowhere. It was happy hour so we ordered margaritas without salt. They arrived with salt and we're so watered down they tasted terrible. We sent those back. Our food came out one entree at a time with my sons fish tacos coming out on a plate covered in foil with gosh in a tortilla and nothing else. We asked for the toppings twice, once getting a dish of chopped jalapeños (the only thing we said no to) and as I sit here we are still waiting on toppings for the tacos. I'm have given my son my meal to finish as he has to eat every few hours. The party of 30 took a lot of staffs time as they paid one at a time. I'm waiting for a manager or someone to come by and actually pay attention in our direction. So after speaking with the owner, it turns out the server was NOT new, she just quit and came back a lot. Not to mention, she quit in the middle of our meal and no one took over until we asked where she was 20 minutes later. This place is a mess. The owner asked me not to review the place in place of a free meal, but we didn't want the free meal (he did it anyway). I wouldn't go back for all the enchiladas in Mexico. read more

Staff here was exceptional and we think we really could have emjoyed this place had we spoke to them about our taste on food. However, the Mexican food everywhere around here serves very unauthentic Mexican food. This place is no different in that they serve the food the way their patrons enjoy it which I can totally appreciate. That being said if you would like authentic Mexican food they can apparently do this upon request and I would totally come back and try out their "secret" menu next time around and update my review at that point in time to reflect. read more

Oh my gosh... This place is outstanding!!! From great service to AMAZING food. We stopped in while passing thru town for a quick visit. I only wish there was a location by us! I want to try everything on the menu. I ordered a fajita sampler with chicken, steak & shrimp. Served with a hearty portion of toppings (they aren't skimping on guac & sour cream either, like other places). Everything was cooked to perfection. My mom ordered a shrimp dish with veggies and rice. We both agreed, some of the best food we've had out in a long time! Our server, Britney, was so sweet, nice and accommodating. In the area visiting Mammoth Caves and found this gem. Wife had Fajita salad and I had Burrito de Carnitas. We both loved our entrees. Chips served hot with a sweet salsa and a spicy salsa. I came here with my 6-year-old daughter for dinner recently and had a great experience. The fresh warm chips with two kinds of salsa were tasty. My daughter had a taco and burrito kids meal and especially loved the burrito. I had the Fajitas Texanas (chicken, beef, and shrimp) -- this portion was supposedly for one person but could have easily fed two (my only regret was not being able to take the leftovers home). The plate of guacamole, rice, beans, etc. was generous. My daughter proclaimed it "a feast!" The service was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Firstly, excellent Mexican food! My husband had salmon over veggies - delicious! I stole a good amount of the veggies, which were not overcooked, and had a nice char. Next, the service was excellent, and the staff friendly and attentive. Salsa was good. My taquitos were the best I've had since I moved away from California. If you are staying near Rte 65, please note that this place is further east, down Happy Valley street. It is east of 65 and as you leave the hotel/restaurant area at 65, it seems like you are driving away from the food. You are not! El Acapulco Cuatro is just out of sight but still fairly close to 65. It is on the left side of the road. My GPS did not have a clue where this address was, which is why I mention this. read more
