Apparently our waitress no speak English and for the life of me I could not think of the Spanish word for sweetener for unsweetened tea. We ordered and it came fast and cold. Chicken chili was not deep fried and on a cold tortilla. 1st time new location and something changed. Used to be the only place I liked chicken chimichanga. Not this time. The restaurant is brand new because they relocated from Cherry Street to Max Wagner Drive in Glasgow. I neglected to get pictures of it because it was raining. Poor excuse but it was a little dark. The inside was beautiful. Pictures next time. The staff were very friendly and courteous. Service was quick but the best part was the food quality. Fresh. Hot. Cooked just right. The food was terrible. Luke warm at best. The tacos only had lettuce and flavorless meat, (I think it was meat.) The enchiladas did not look like the menu pictures and they were served cold. Other menu items ordered did not resemble menu photos. They have cut back on cheese and tomatoes. A real disappointment. Stick with the chips and salsa, ordered a beer and go back home for the main meal. The restaurant is very clean and that is important to me. The service is good. read more

Nothing much was open on a Sunday night, so we decided to go to El Mazatlan, based on the reviews and the fact that it was near our hotel. This place was such a great surprise! We were staying at a local Air BNB which was nice experience outside of the big city Chicago and Orlando, and decided to check this place out. They are very friendly and helped with menu items. I ordered a vegetarian meal, and everything was on point; The enchiladas were even where every bite was as tasty as the first, the rice was soft and fluffy and soaks up all the juice from the beans and enchilada. The also had a drink deal for 2 margaritas (of course we order them lol) - and they were soo good. We couldn't stop talking about this restaurant since we got back home. My food had a piece of plastic in it.. accidents happen but they charged me full price for their mistake. This place provides great service and great food! The chille relleno is perfect-not too eggy. The taco ground beef has the best flavor. The decried beans are super tasty. The rice - kind of blah. Wow drove by and lot was full so my wife suggested we stop. We are from out of town (Michigan) and had a great experience. The food was fantastic!!! Started with chips (free) and 3 different salsa's. Very nice heat. I had a burrito with shrimp, chorizo, steak, and chicken with a great spicy sauce. Wife had stuffed relleno with a great sauce. Even rice and beans were top shelf. Road Trip. Dinner. Great queso fundido con chorizo. The Mazatlan Especial was awesome! Huge portions. Hubby does not like shrimp so we asked for them on the side and I got them in a skewer. Everything was delicious. We stayed at a B&B and the owners had recommended a different place (Garcia's) but they close at 9pm and we were there just before 9 so they said it was closed. A very kind lady heard this and recommended El Mazatlan. Oh my, that was a great idea. The decor is very Mexican, the music as well -I decided here that in the future I will also rate Mexican places depending on how many songs I sing while eating : P Our server, Aide I think, was very nice and friendly. The best Mexican around! The staff is so friendly! It's like walking into family. They are wonderful and the food is ALWAYS so good!!

Food was very bland. I tried the special and my wife got the fajitas. We had to add salt and pepper and hot sauce to give it some sort of flavor. Decent service. Smoking is allowed in the outdoor portion of the restaurant which was a big negative. Definitely hyped up for an average or slightly below average meal. I usually can finish my meals or take home leftovers but I didn't want to eat this food anymore and left it at the table unfortunately. read more

I had never been here before even though you always hear it being talked about on the radio. I wish I would have come sooner. This place is great. The food is so good. I ordered a California burrito and the thing was huge. I could only manage to eat half of it. The wait staff was very attentive as well. We did wait for a while at first, but that was only because we were waiting for another group of people to show up. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Absolutely love enjoying the food and drinks out on the deck when the weather is nice! The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. Inside there is upstairs and downstairs dining so lots of room. Bar is located downstairs with TVs. Waiters and managers are very friendly and do their best to serve you what you want. They have several healthy menus items as well as the traditional Mexican menu items. Love the Freddy's tacos, Bartley Bowl, Alan Special, all the fajitas, ceviche... you really can't go wrong. WOW! You may ask why a review starting with that only gets 4 stars. It is because, in my mind, five stars is for places that cost an entire paycheck. What doesn't work? The chips were weak and for that I am thankful. Had they been better I would have eaten more and not finished my dinner. My beer was cold. And good. However, I wish I had ordered the margarita like my wife did. It was fantastic! Much better than I expected from a little place like this. Plenty of lime, with just enough salt, and no hint of the usual cheap alcohol. Food all around was well received, but mine deserves special mention. Mazamolcajete was too much to say, so I just pointed. The side salad was unusually tasty, I know not why. It came, however, in a bowl as big as my head. I had to leave half to finish my dinner. A tasty mixture of beef, chicken and fresh tasting shrimp with cactus and other veggies, this came is a large black bowl with legs, made of volcanic rock. I admit to being a bit surprised that a place that appeared thoroughly authentic Mexican (or even Tex-Mex) was so underwhelming. I was brought here by my family, who lives locally, and was proclaimed by them the best Mexican in town. Certainly, this might be the case, however, it didn't quite hit the spot for me. FIrst - the chips were fine, but the salsa was weak. When I requested a spicier salsa, the waiter didn't seem to understand my request. Hot sauce was not on the table, and when I asked for some, I got a small bottle of Tapatio. It's a serviceable hot sauce, but more recently has been a topic of concern due to it's sodium benzoate content. No matter, however. Let's move on to the entree! I ordered the Chicken Chilaquiles, which were much cheesier than I had anticipated. Again, it lacked a certain spicy characteristic, and fresh flavors that I crave with good Mexican food. The drinks definitely seem to be a draw for some of the patrons, as that they are generous and rather inexpensive. The portions are generous for the food as well. You will not go hungry if you eat here. Overall, I would come here again, when in town, because my family loves this place. Otherwise, I would be hard pressed to return. read more

Haven't been here in awhile, so I stopped by for lunch. I walked in and the staff jumped to attention, got me seated, brought my drink and got my order lickety-split. AND they were professional and pleasant while doing it, too. My food looked (surprise of all shocks) EXACLY like the picture in the menu and was delivered in record time. Also, it was delicious! I ordered the quesedilla and it was far and away better than any mere taco joint quesedilla and may be the very best I ever had!
