Daughter's bf's family suggested this place as a great choice for Mexican food. Given it was Cinco De Mayo it was quite busy but a great environment, little loud but to be expected. They have the bar area separate with karaoke along with a smoking patio at the back side. Good oldies music was playing in the background too. The service was a little slow but given how busy they were that is understandable . The food was very flavorful and delicious. The steak, chicken and shrimp was so flavorful and fresh, so fresh in fact I got juice from the green pepper on my face when I cut into it. The onions and shrimp were cooked perfectly! I love a colorful dish and as you can see from the picture the dinner was very colorful. Even though we all handed different receipts and credit cards for the dinner tab the waitress charged all the dinners on my bf's card! I understand with it being busy and all but if we handed all different receipts and cards how can you mess that up??? The waitress realized once she came back to the table and did get it corrected. Convenient right off the turnpike. Very friendly efficient service, huge portions, delicious food & really reasonable prices. We couldn't finish our lunch combo platters and they were under $20. Very authentic, this is where the locals & state troopers eat. We were one of the few hear that did not speak Spanish. I learned on my travels that wherever there is agriculture there are Mexican's & the women bring the best local dishes. A lot more exciting than Cracker Barrel and the usual big chains off the highway and we prefer supporting small mom and pop businesses read more

If you have any dietary restrictions, don't walk...run from this restaurant! A vegetarian in my party ordered the Vegetarian Quesadillas only to find multiple chunks of meat in his food halfway through the meal. When we spoke to our server and the manager and explained the problem, they told us we could go to the local hospital for help, but it wasn't their fault because they cook all their food together in the back, despite labeling several meals as "Vegetarian" in their menu. I've never seen such a lack of caring for making someone sick or poor customer service. read more

On the way back from Rough River stopped at Elizabethtown to have supper, since we stopped at 2 different places and they were closed. We ordered the Arracahera Asada and burritos supremos. For dessert we had flan and a bowl of ice cream since they didn't have fried ice cream. The asada was salty, and according to my friend he enjoyed his burrito. The food was not so great either. I ordered the nachos and they were horrible. I could not even finish them because they tasted so bad. Service excellent. ATM However the food is just ok. I ordered the Tres Favorites: Beef, chicken, shrimp. The chicken was great, shrimp butterflied (still with shell) and the steak was tough as jerky. ACP - Arroz Con pollo was good, but would have better if the cheese was melted into it. Son ordered the enchiladas- he ate every bite. Chips and salsa was fine. Unfortunately we forgot to order a bowl of guacamole, so we don't know how it is. Yes, we would go back, but order the simplest dishes. read more

First impressions, dirty and unprofessional. I came here for lunch and meanwhile I work all the way across town, so I got to my work and found out, it was a completely different meal. I called and they said to come in to talk later and then when I got there he told me he wouldn't refund me for my $15 lunch. Most of all staff were on their phones, tables still had food on them. Second time here in as many days, this time angling for dinner. Though there are plenty of burrito variations on the menu, I was surprised at the lack of basic combination plates. Instead, many grilled offerings are presented as specials. Pollo a la Parrilla (chicken breast basted with Mexican achiote), Bistec Tapatio (charbroiled rib-eye topped with onions, bell peppers and tomatoes), Chimichangas Camaron (grilled shrimp, onions, bell peppers and tomatoes topped with nacho cheese sauce) and the basic Tres Favoritas, which is steak, chicken and shrimp served with rice, beans and tortillas (as most of the dishes are.) I had the Burrito Porky, which was filled with delicious roasted pork, nacho cheese and ranchero sauce with a side of rice. The pork was fork tender, a little salty, but seriously good eatin'. Even the guy killing Garth Brooks' "The Dance" at the restaurant's Country Karaoke didn't detract from the experience. Las Chalupas has a pretty extensive menu overall with most of the standard Mexican fare, but they wisely choose to highlight their grilled and roasted dishes. For doing setting slightly different, and doing it right, they get extra marks. Service was excellent and the cavernous interior contained lots of eye candy. Go for the win when in E-Town. read more

The food was good the service was even better! My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way down to Georgia. The serving size for the price is amazing. We got beers bigger than our heads, a burrito the size of a baby. Our bill was under $40, and that included tequila.The server was super friendly, but not in an obnoxious way. Came to have dinner with some friends(co-workers from a previous job). There were a couple of people new to this restaurant. I have been here a couple of times. Once I arrived they were already seated and had their drinks. I waited awhile (5-10mins) for the server to take my drink order and I wanted the carna asda tacos which I usually order with onions, cilantro and hot salsa. My beer took 15 mins, after another 20 mins or so our food started coming out. My tacos were steak tacos however not prepared like usual they gave me rice and beans, which I didn't order. They added steak tacos to the menu and it different from what I am use. But nobody order was complete correct, they were missing something like tortillas or sauce. One co worker order guacamole but she got sliced avocado instead. My co-worker's boyfriend order the soup that stated it comes with scallops, come to find out they don't even buy scallops. He asked the waiter if it had scallops before he ordered the soup, because he was going to order another soup. We use to go to another Mexican restaurant that never messed with our orders, the only reason why we went here is because they have more seating. It may have been they were busy with a few large groups like ours but everyone at the table agreed this wasn't the best place to go for food. We did get to enjoy the karaoke and dancing they had in the other seating room. I think I will stick to ordering my food at the bar, the bartender gets my taco order right and quick on my beer order. read more

I'm only giving two stars because our waitress Fabiola went above and beyond. When I order a meal that is supposed to have chorizo and you have to pay extra for it I expect more than a tablespoon of chorizo in my food when brought to the manager's attention she offered to put more chorizo at an extra cost or refund my money so I left hungry. read more

Three stars good food but what concerns me is their kitchen as clean as the appearance of the rest of the restaurant. Take for instance the bathrooms for three years now all the doors are broken, ceiling tiles are missing it smells clean but is it really. The appearance is old and broken it's not a powder room I feel comfortable using. They still have old decorations up from Halloween and Christmas. I noticed they raised their prices I don't see any improvements at all. We will never go back read more

Good lord, this place is revolting. Dragged here by a colleague. Never again. Everything is greasy and tasteless "Mexirican" vileness. If there is a single spice other than an occasional dash of cayenne pepper, I certainly didn't taste it (even salt or pepper), in any of the dishes served to my table. Vile. Absolutely vile. Also: apparently, after dark, local po expect people to leave this place loaded. BTW: as someone able to order effectively and correctly (even if my grammar gets a little loose in translation), even if/in case a server doesn't speak English, I've never had a problem while ordering, my problems with this place have absolutely nothing to do with language. read more

A few of the reviews I have read about here mark against for the wait staff having poor English. OF COURSE THEY WILL HAVE POOR ENGLISH! This, in my opinion and experience, is the sign of a good Mexican restaurant. They might not be the easiest to talk to or understand, but who cares. The food is what matters to me when I eat out. The food is wonderful to me here. Got the Burrito Porky and enjoyed every bite of it. It came with rice and a salad-type deal that was made with a little lettuce, cilantro, jalapeños, and onion. Better than just the throw of iceberg lettuce. Wife got the Chicken chimichanga and enjoyed it. She has a dairy allergy and they got it right the first time in watching if they put cheese on there. The kids got soft tacos and quesadillas. Like most Mexican places, they serve chips as well. They were warm and crunchy like a chip should be. The salsa tasted fresh with some extra cilantro in there. A secondary salsa was brought with the chips that looks like it had fire roasted peppers or something in it and some kick to it from jalapeños. We liked that one so much that we got extra to go. Overall, great food. Typical atmosphere for a Mexican place. There are TVs everywhere and sports on all of them, but that's what they enjoy watching and what they think their patrons enjoy as well. read more

Most restaurants were pretty full, so we decided to try this Mexican restaurant. The waitress was friendly and attentive. They brought out chips and salsa including a couple hot salsas. The salsa tasted fresh. The hot salsa was not for a delicate palate, but did taste good. The food didn't take long to get and was hot and fresh. I didn't really like how the rice came with veggies in it since we have kids who love rice, but not the kind with veggies. Our food tasted great. The man cleaning tables was so nice and friendly! Probably the best restaurant in Elizabethtown. Certainly no reason to go to any of the chains when you can eat here. Portions are good, chips and salsa are delicious - you will want more of the smoky hot salsa than they will give you, but they're happy to accommodate any request and are very attentive. read more

They incorrectly charged my credit card for another tables bill which was about twice as much as my actual bill. I pointed this out thinking it would be a quick and easy fix. Fast forward a half an hour and I still didn't have a credit run on the original charge but they also charged for my actual bill. How in the hell can you run a restaurant and not know how to process a credit on a credit card? The language barrier did not help either, no one there was very conversant in English and I did my best to speak Spanish with them. All to no avail and now I have to deal with Amex on getting my credit on my card. It's too bad, the lunch my wife and I had was actually good, but if you run a business where people spend their hard earned money you need to know how to run a credit when you incorrectly overcharge someone. read more

It was really good on my first time there They have really good size portions and the hot salsa is good too. The place has lots of room. My 15 year old son and I split the steak and chicken fajitas for two and we still had left overs. My boyfriend got this huge burrito and no way did he eat it all. He had to get a box for his too. Now I did order a Margarita. I was worried that it would be sour mix over done and tequila but it was not... It was a real Margarita with triple sec, tequila and lime juice with a splash of OJ.
