The second best place for authentic Mexican, not Tex-Mex like most of the others. Mexico Lindo is the best place if you were wondering. A small restaurant, with about 8 tables. Greeted warmly by the owner and served by her husband. Super nice and the service was fast. We got our usual and they were good, but the sauce on my chile relleno was a little different more tart than I would like. Their "street tacos" are really good, I had it with lengua, dressed simply with cilantro and onions. They did offer it with cheese and other things like tomatoes. Some of the other taquerias do and I don't know why, that's a good way to ruin a good taco. The tacos are very good and I could probably just have eaten that. I got some flan and some candies to go. If you want authentic and a few more dishes that the aforementioned Mexico Lindo then La Paloma would be an excellent choice. read more

While Etown doesn't have very many local restaurants to choose from, it somehow has a very large proportion of Mexican-style options. Even with the saturation of Mexican restaurants in the area, La Paloma very much stands out for me. First of all, the food is wonderful. The way they prepare their meals, even the plates they use, feel a lot more home-y to me, in the absolute best way. Their salsas are delicious, so much so that my husband seems to forget every single time that he and the extra hot sauce don't get along. He says it's worth it every time. We also really love the empanadas, especially the cheese ones. The staff is always very sweet, and the locale makes it feel like you're at home. We really love this place, we would recommend this to anyone, and we've brought many people here to try for themselves. read more

I have lived in Mexico previously and this is literally the most authentic street food Mexican restaurant in the entire area. I absolutely love the tamales here and they are so authentic, literally the only item on the menu that isn't authentic and when I asked, she was very embarrassed to tell me that the burritos were American style. So between us we worked out a compromise and made the burrito a little more Mexican and a lot less Americanized. But literally everything else on the menu is straight out of Mexico. I highly recommend the food here. They also recognize my voice on the phone and are very kind to me and they remember what I like. They do have table service and it's a fairly small space probably about 8 tables. But I always take my food home and enjoy it. This is where you go for authentic Central American food! The tamales are fresh, not frozen. Salsa is delicious. Excellent seasoning with good lunch prices. It was $8 for two tamales with rice and beans. I ordered pastel de tres leche to take with me and it was so good! I didn't get to try them but the empanadas looked great. read more

This place gets a high 3.5. Tucked in a small area across from the largest grocery store in the area, it's a hidden gem. There is a decent variety offered on their menu. Given the competition in the area, this will likely be my go-to place at least 1x/month when in the area. This is especially given the size and price of their horchata. At first the plan was to order to-go but I'm glad I decided to stay. The fresh made side of tortilla chips was good to start me off while waiting for my entree. The wait for the entree was a little longer than expected but it was obvious that my food was literally made to order and expected to be fresh and hot on delivery. They did not disappoint! I'm not quite sure what part of Mexico they represent but you know they're pretty authentic when the two individuals across from me indicated they were in town from Louisville. It was likely they were in the area for work but they chose this place for the fact that it was not your typical Mexican restaurant but more of a traditional taqueria style restaurant, which it makes it feel all the more authentic. The dorados would've been nice if there was more cheese on it but given that it's different than what I'm used to, it's not a deal breaker. The item doesn't traditionally come with guacamole on top, but I'm glad I did add it to the order. There's a few other items on the menu I'm inclined to try on another visit and will likely bring my other half to try out as well. I had two tacos, one taco dorado and one tamale. The tacos were perfection and I wish I had ordered two more tacos dorados (fried taco? ummmm, hell yeah‍) Soooo yummy! I only picked La Paloma because I was hungry for Mexican food and it was close by. What a great little place! Do not let the store front fool you. It looks run down - heck, there isn't even a sign overhead - but they make up for it in quality. I got the enchiladas verde to go. Six chicken enchiladas with a thin steak on top for $13. So, on a quest for authentic Hispanic food, we found another nice little secret in Elizabethtown. La Paloma, in a little strip mall across from Kroger, small but they use the space well, super friendly staff, clean, when we stopped in on a Saturday, busy. We were seated and spent a few minutes looking at the menu, there are drinks from a cooler, and the Hispanic drinks from the menu, (Horchata, Jamaica, Tamarindo). My wife ordered Chicken Enchiladas Verde (6), I ordered Beef Enchiladas La Paloma (6), each plate came with a little beef steak on top, with a side for Pico de gallo and Guacamole, standard chip and salsa. The plates presented good and the food had an authentic flavor, hint of heat but nothing over powering. We enjoyed our meal, had some of the local Hispanic guys inside enjoying their meal and reveling in stories which were entertaining, Spanish television on and just a good atmosphere, I do recommend, just know the food may come out a little slow depending on the time, but well worth any wait! read more

Absolutely the best AUTHENTIC Mexican food. Elizabethtown has many Mexican restaurants and many are very good, but if you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go!! Street tacos are amazing and low cost. The service is very friendly, EVERY time. There aren't many tables, but we have never had an issue getting seated. They have all the Mexican sodas and cola. In a town saturated by Mexican restaurants, you have to find a way to separate yourself from the pack - especially if you're a new restaurant. I believe that La Paloma Authentic Mexican Street Food has found that niche. Nestled in the Dolphin Plaza across from the Kroger Superstore, La Paloma serves up food truck-style Mexican street food in a quaint, store front restaurant. The menu is full of street food items, most of which were new to me and my wife - pambazos, garnachas, picadas - but the menu pictures and descriptions helped us decide which to try. The prices are very reasonable, and they encouraged the ordering of multiple menu items - tapas style. The garnachas reminded me of a spicy tostada slathered in red sauce topped with shredded chicken. Very good. But the empanadas (we had one beef and one chicken empanada) were a whole new level of deliciousness! Crispy shell - not oily - topped with a tomato slice, lettuce and cotija cheese. Outstanding food and service! Our family of 4 stopped on a road trip from Ohio to Alabama. Got a variety of things and shared.
