I love this place. Hole in the wall next to the shell station. You cannot beat the attention and service here. They are so kind.. and service is fast and HOT! I always ask them to make me some flour chips and get a side of guacamole. Food is good! The food is good! The salsa is pretty good. (I have my favorites) it is well lit and they have tables and booths. They serve Coke products. Their gravies, both red and green are very good. And they have a drive thru!! read more

Stopped at this place on the way to Lake Tahoe. It is conveniently located next to a gas station. Was immediately disappointed in the service, as we sat down and no one gave us a menu, we had to go walk up to the front and grab the menus ourselves. After flagging down the teen boy to get our order of Las Minas special, burrito, and carne asada dinner. They brought over complimentary chips and salsa. One basket of chips was warm while the other was stale. The 2 dishes came out except for the Las Minas special. We asked the kid if it was coming out soon and he said yes. We then heard some back and forth conversation in the back about our missing order, and then the kid comes back asking "what do you want" and blaming the other server instead of taking the responsibility of him missing our order. We found this lack of accountability extremely rude, as we told him that we already ordered with him but denied it. He was talking to his friend sitting at the table besides us the entire time which explains why he was very distracted. To make up for the mistake the gave us a small flan. It was personally too sweet for me. Overall the food was salty and oily, below average. I expected better of this location considering the good reviews. Will not be returning nor recommending this restaurant. read more

My family and I stopped off here to get take out and were met with nothing but hospitality from start to finish. We ordered the meals to go and then sat down to wait. The staff brought us out chips/salsa and offered us waters. The menu said take out didn't come with chips, but they a couple bags in anyway. When they learned it was my birthday, they threw in not one, but two flan desserts. It was an impressive experience! read more

Came here for dinner with friends. Restaurant is attached to a gas station. Ambience is better than you would expect and the food was pretty good and reasonably priced. This was $21 and they made the burrito wrong. I used to come here all the time but I feel like they are misleading people nowadays. I just wanted a regular burrito with rice and meat but was told they only have super burritos. This burrito only has meat in it. So a small burrito, beans on the side with cheese and a bag of flour chips cost $21. I don't think I will be back anytime soon. read more

My son raved about this place. Since there's a small handful of Mexican food restaurants in the county, my husband and I tried it out for lunch. I got the beef nachos. They were fine, can't really mess up nachos. The chips were good, the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the beef. They were small cubes of beef with a gravy-like sauce on them. Once I said out loud that it looked like a can of dog food I couldn't get it out of my head. Sadly I won't eat anything with beef from there again. I'm sure it was fine, but my mind tricked me into Chuck Wagon canned and I completely avoided the beef. We've been there since and I ordered the cheese enchilada lunch which was good. Decided to go pick up some Mexican food. I order the #1 Al beef plate. It came with a taco, a chili relleno, chili Colorado, beef enchilada, rice and beans. It also came with chips and salsa. Very tasty food. The service was great and the price was reasonable. I also found out from the staff that I could order over the phone and then pick it up. I will do that next time. This is a go-to restaurant when we are in the area! It's conveniently located next to the gas station. There is ample parking as well as a drive thru option for call-in orders. The staff are good and the food is tasty. The chips and salsa are complementary and they come to the table still warm! Yum! First off, they have a drive-thru, making take-out extra convenient, but if you decide to eat inside the place, it is fairly small but has a nice, clean atmosphere & a great beer selection! In my experience, a super burrito consist of rice, beans, onion, cilantro, cheese, sour cream, green or red sauce and choice of meat. I ordered a to go super asada burritos from this establishment and received a burrito with rice, refried beans, carne asada and what I think was a very very mild sauce. Parking is a little limited so it may get crowded during peak times. The menu is rather extensive, but catered to the locals. The interior of the restaurant is festive with nice murals and a high ceiling. Service was good with chips and good salsa delivered fast. I ordered the chile relleno lunch plate. The relleno was decent and served with good beans and below average rice. The sauce was fairly mild, but it was a good price and filled me up after a morning exploring the region. There are not many options in the area, especially for lunch on a Monday. Las Minas has good hours and decent food which makes it a great option for the region. read more

Best Mexican food on the mountain. Delicious menu of all your favorites! Enchiladas, chili rellano, tacos, flautas, steak rancheros. Nice shrimp tacos for the no -meat eaters or pescatarians. Beautiful margaritas and chips and salsa come out right when you sit down. Our server was so friendly and genuine with a great sense of humor too!! It seemed she was happy to be there which somehow makes the food taste better!!! The food is fresh made and very tasty. Not too expensive either. I chose a combo plate since it was my first time and I wanted to taste as many things as I could. I love the taco shells!!! Crispy but not too hard. The enchilada sauce is so good and not too spicy. Everyone at the table was happy with their choices and all three of us with three drinks on the tab was only $60. I am so happy to have a Mexican food option in Pine Grove. I'm looking to relocate here from SOCAL and a good Mexican spot is a must for me and my family. My aunt and uncle have been coming to Las Minas for years from smoke now and before that, all the way from French Camp. It's right next to a gas station so it looks unassuming but BELIEVE me. We had just spent the whole day snowboarding in Tahoe so we were STARVING. Our cell service was also spotty the entire drive down the mountain so we weren't able to find a place to eat for a couple hours. But then we were blessed with 5 gracious minutes of LTE which lead us to the doors of Las Minas!!! This is such a hole in the wall place. It's located right next to a gas station, the surrounding area is pretty desolate but it is seriously a GEM. You wouldn't think it but wow, were we in for a treat. First of all, shout out to our waitress!! Like most mexican places, Las Minas serves free chips and salsa. I always end up feeling a little embarrassed/ shameful when I ask for refills...especially when it starts to reach numbers like 4 or 5...don't judge. A girl has got to eat. But I never had to go through that embarrassment because our waitress would either go ahead and fill the chips up or ask us directly. WHAT AN ANGEL. The portions here are huge, and all so so yummy. I ordered the cheese enchiladas and yes yes yes!!! The cheese was stretchy, the sauce was flavorful, the beans were rich, everything was so satisfying. My brother and his friend also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. 5 Stars Las Minas!!! I'm definitely keeping this place in mind next time we visit Tahoe! read more

Solid place for sit-down Mexican food in a relatively rural area. Inside setting has beautiful murals but could use a bit more flare...it sometimes just feels a bit too open and cold. The combination plates are a big bang for your buck and have some good flavor albeit a bit over saucy sometimes. read more
