Salvatoria Kitchen and Bar is a great option if you're looking for a sit-down spot for pupusas. I…read morewas pleasantly surprised that the pupusas were still reasonably priced for a full-service restaurant and bar, at around $4 each. They offer a good variety of fillings. My favorite was the jalapeño and cheese, which have a nice kick to them. The yuca frita was crispy but not oily, and made for a great appetizer before the pupusas. We came during happy hour and took advantage of the drink specials. The red sangria and margaritas were only $8 a glass and they were both strong and tasty, though I preferred the sangria slightly more. The music at Salvatoria was great and made for a nice atmosphere, with current Latino hits playing in the background. My only note, and it's minor, is that the curtido wasn't as good as I've had at other places. They do give you a good amount, but it lacked some of the crunch and acidity that a great curtido needs to balance out the pupusas. Overall, Salvatoria Kitchen and Bar delivers on food, value, and atmosphere. The bill for four pupusas, two drinks, and an order of yuca frita came out to just $45 before tip.

I was already kind of full but the entrees we got were also very delicious. I wish I knew how to cook fish or chicken that juicy but keeping the outside crunchy-crispy. 10/10 for all the food. Idk why but the music was so upbeat and it kept me feel rushed for some reason but that might be just me! Haha The service was great, the water kept getting filled and they were very attentive. Would definitely come back again!

My husband and I popped in here on Sunday as I was in the mood for a quesadilla. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. As someone who grew up and spent most of my life in Texas, I have pretty high standards when it comes to Mexican food... The quesadilla was made with Oaxaca cheese, which is something that I usually enjoy, HOWEVER it was not fully heated... Meaning not only was it not hot in the center, but it also wasn't fully melted. Such a disappointment. We also ordered some chips and salsa, and I'm sad to say that the salsa was equally disappointing. It was very watery and had a sweet taste to it. I prefer my salsa to be chunky and a bit spicy,.. On the bright side, the chips were realllllly good! Thick, crispy and possibly made in-house. The service was also decent, so there's that. All in all, I don't plan to come here.

In a conceptually simple but paradigm-altering move, Athens Grill offers two sizes of tacos. I got…read morethree large ones and found this to be the right amount which means some of you will think that's too large. Carnitas was a good one and the vegetarian was decent thanks to guacamole, but the must-have is the al pastor. The pork feels like it spent some time on the spit and there's judicious use of pineapple. I admired it enough that I didn't even add red and green sauce. (I'll be a posting a photo but it just provides a general overview - the food lighting was too dark, and my camera isn't great unless it's a sunny outdoor shot between 2 hours before and 10 minutes after sunset. It's not good enough for Instagram, or in a glass half full moment you could say it's a Special Yelp Photo Exclusive).

Walking in, immediately, the atmosphere was lively and everyone seemed to be having a good night with drinks and karaoke. This spot seems to have karaoke by their bar section quite a bit at night, especially on the weekends. Although a slight language barrier, our waitress was an absolute doll and she made such a great effort trying to understand our minimal spanish. She was super sweet and was checking on us regularly. The drinks came out pretty immediately, though I will say they are a bit heavy handed with the alcohol. Wasn't a big fan of the piña colada, as it tasted like only rum and no actual pineapple/coconut, but the other drinks looked pretty interesting. The actual food though, oh my goodness. It was genuinely so amazing that I came back the next day to have it again for lunch. The fish tacos are to die for. The tilapia is nice and soft on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Despite so many fried items, nothing felt too greasy and that's what really tied it together. The flavors in the items are impeccable, and I highly recommend anyone to go here. They're open pretty late on the weekends so definitely grab a bite before heading home.

The food is on par with what one would expect in this part of NYC, but it is one of the more versatile Mexican establishments in this part of Woodside. Once past the bright lights, the restaurant is deceivingly spacious with a bar and plenty of tables. The staff primarily speaks in Spanish and the crowd as usually locals from the neighborhood. Prices are somewhere in the middle. From a food perspective, it's solid. Their tacos are on par with most of the restaurants in the vicinity. It's neither outstanding nor terrible but they are the perfect complement to their variety of drinks from micheladas to margaritas. The place is a very different experience for people who are coming to party, watch soccer, or enjoy with a group. Even though I think their Tex-Mex nachos are a near abomination, It actually works quite well when paired with any of their drinks. Their enchiladas are poblano appropriate, with a decent portion of refried beans and rice. Their menu is actually quite vast with plenty of Mexican classics. Their guacamole appetizer has nice chunks of avocado and good seasoning. Finish it all with some of their signature churros and life isn't so bad. They have free delivery and this place is both empty and busy all within the same night. If there's a good futbol match on and the drinks are flowing, I would be keen to order a spread out here and leave having had a good time. Julia's house is definitely fun if one makes the most of it.

Our waitress was kind, patient, and polite throughout our visit. For example, the chicaroon appetizer is a regular sized link that you would get in a typical Colombian bandeja paisa or the size you would get at a colombian bakery (the one that comes with a boiled potato). It came with two mini fried arepa cakes. Overall this item was fatty and the skin was not as crispy as expected. The tostoncitos with steak was 3 pieces for $20. This appetizer tasted great. Guacamole was smooth, and the steak pieces were well seasoned and cooked. Service was mediocre. The waitress came to take our order/provide water but that was pretty much it so 18% mandatory gratuity is a disappointment as there was nothing that warranted that during our visit. It looks like a potential spot for a date/pre-game night as they serve alcohol including mixed drinks for $16 and bottle service type drinks for table (ie: patron reposado for $200, aquardiente azul $200, and buchanans $200, etc). They do have a lunch menu Monday to Friday from 12-330pm that comes with 3 sides and an entree for $15. It seems promising, but I'm not sure I will be back. They also have Happy hour specials everyday, but we were not told of any when we sat down. Overall, I will probably not come back again. The portions/prices and service weren't amazing/spectacular enough to justify the mandatory tip %.
