Traditional Filipino dishes [Vallejo CA]…read more We were in the area and were looking for a place to eat preferably serving Filipino cuisine since we have limited options in Roseville. Hubby found this restaurant and so we drove to the place. First thing you'll notice once you enter the restaurant is the warm temp inside - no AC but they have electric fans going on. To the right is a long shelf with a variety grocery items while the table seating is laid out in the center. TV was tuned in to a channel playing a Filipino movie. This is a "turo-turo" style food ordering, meaning no table service instead you go to where the dishes are cooked in large portions (which is towards the back of the restaurant) and you choose which ones you want. We ordered: Pork Sinigang - a little too sour for me but this is a classic Filipino soup with pork ribs, vegetables, and tamarind broth. Bistek (beef steak) - thin slices of marinated beef before smothered in a deeply savory sauce and topped with golden-seared onions Pork Adobo - classic Filipino dish of pork simmered in vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic Kaldereta - goat meat stew I didn't try the kaldereta but all the other dishes were good and delicious. You will definitely feel the Filipino hospitality here. Street parking. Maraming salamat! Review #3929

Super pillowy steamed bun with ube halaya/jam in the center! Great cozy snack. I also tried the chicken asado one; eh, it was alright as the chicken filling was a little too gloopy for my liking. Anyway, yes this mart is ***fantastic*** if you're looking for hard-to-find Asian food goodies. This mart advertises the ability of customers to request specific items to be sold here, and the owners evidently are receptive to such requests (I mean, there's a freezer corner just dedicated to fruit-shaped ice cream lol). Also, I appreciate that interior-wise it's just an old-school bodega-style mart lol nothing overly trendy like j-pop/k-pop blaring in the store. Good shopping experience for me. :p No fuss with lot parking at all when I visited on an early afternoon Sunday.

Most recently, we had a 10% off coupon that stated in large writing it expired in 7 days, only to be told there was a different expiration date hidden in much smaller print. We were only a few hours past the cutoff, and instead of offering any understanding or trying to help, the staff argued about it. Most companies with decent customer service would honor something like that. As someone with 15+ years in customer service, it's disappointing to see an establishment with so much potential fall so short in this area. The staff comes across as cold, monotone, and uninterested in helping customers. To make matters worse, there seems to be little to no manager or lead support available to assist with bigger issues. Unfortunately, the customer service here has been a zero every time I've visited.

We were in Benicia for some fishing during the Labor Day long weekend…read more Later we walked down main street, 1st street and it was pretty quiet. Not many business' were open. There is parking along the street but I can hoe parking can be difficult when it is busy. As we were walking to the pub, my friend's kid saw this store and immediately wanted to go in. It has a pleasing display of toys in the window. There are toys, games, snacks and drinks from various Asian countries. The prices were quite expensive but understandable since they are not local . There were quite a few fakes, the La Bubus looked fake but there were no obvious signs disclosing the fact. I did see a sign on one of the bottom shelves that a particular item was not the original but not for others. In addition, there was box marked for $3 with some small items and larger items. When the kid picked the larger item, it rang up as $15, which was on the tag on the item but the items itself (several of them) were placed in the box marked $3. When the parent said no to the higher priced item, the kid threw upset. Seems like placing the 2 items together was a deliberate misrepresentation because the kid will be upset and most parents either give in because they don't their kid crying or they don't want to cause a scene. There is also a charge of 4% processing fee for credit cards, that is not only very high but there were no obvious signs letting customers know about the charge. All in all an unpleasant experience

This is another place in Vallejo to do your grocery shopping. I have not had been experience at Island Pacific. The people that work there have been helpful. Plenty of parking at this location. It is a big parking lot with other businesses in the area. Island Pacific seems to be bigger than Seafood City and 168 Market. Another Asian Grocery Store that been getting plenty of business in Vallejo. Seem like people in Vallejo have choices to go to Island Pacific or the other two grocery stores in the city.

Terrible Customer Service and Very Poor Online Ordering Experience…read more My first order was supposed to arrive at 6:00 PM, but I didn't receive it until 7:30 PM--1.5 hours late. When I called to ask about my order, the manager initially said they couldn't find it in their system. After about 10-15 minutes, they finally realized that my delivery had never been booked. What was most disappointing was that instead of simply apologizing for the mistake and the delay, the manager was extremely rude and had a very unprofessional attitude toward me as a customer. I gave them another chance and placed a second order, but I had another issue with the payment. I was initially charged $49, which was showing as pending on my account. I was then told that my card was declined and that they needed to charge me another $24. I explained that the $49 was already pending and that the final order amount was only $24 because some items were unavailable. Instead of properly adjusting the original charge, they wanted to charge me another $24. When I questioned this, the manager became even more rude and was shouting at me. Mistakes can happen, but how you treat your customers when mistakes happen matters. A simple apology and professional communication would have made a huge difference. Very disappointing experience. I do not recommend ordering online from this location.

I think this is officially my fifth burrito review, so at this point, I'm on a mission to find the…read morebest burrito in Vallejo! This was my first time getting food from the food court inside this market. When you walk in and head to the left, there's a food court area with a variety of foods that you can order to eat there or take to go. For this visit, I kept it simple and ordered a carne asada burrito and a few street tacos. One thing I noticed right away is that they also offer family-sized meals and portions, which is a nice option if you're feeding a group. They make the food front of you and the ladies working behind the counter were really nice and provided good customer service. The only slightly confusing part was the ordering area. There's a sign that says "Pick Up Here," but it wasn't completely clear if that was also where you place your order. Once I figured everything out, though, the process was easy. Now to the important part, the food! The burrito and tacos were both good with no complaints. I ordered carne asada, and they definitely weren't stingy with the meat. I got a really good portion in my burrito and on my tacos, which I appreciated. The street tacos were also a great value at only $2.50 each. Nowadays, I usually see street tacos going for around $3-$4 or more, so $2.50 with a good amount of carne asada felt like a deal. Before ordering my food, I walked around the market for a little bit. I liked seeing the selection of fresh salsa and hot sauces, along with a nice assortment of cheeses and tortillas. They even had those super-large tortillas, which immediately caught my attention because they're perfect for making big quesadillas at home. I'll definitely be coming back, especially for another burrito. The search for Vallejo's best burrito continues!

The combo was advertised at $12.99, but the employees insisted that the birria was not a combo, even though the sign clearly showed the birria for $11.99. Despite that, they still charged me an extra dollar. I know it's not a lot of money, but please be very careful because they overcharge customers, and that is essentially theft. They do not honor the prices they advertise.

I ended up grabbing beef salad, pad Thai, and a mixed jelly dessert, along with chips that looked like bugles to try. My cousin grabbed a few grab and go items as well, plus some fresh peppers to take home. The lady working the cash register was super nice! Just a heads up that they do take card, but I think the minimum spend is $10 or something like that (I could be wrong lol). Loved this small Thai market. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a special ingredient, fresh produce, or some food that feels like your auntie cooked it!
