I have been to other BBQ restaurants in the area and they were not that impressive, so I decided to give Larry's a try, despite a less than spectacular rating on Yelp! As others have said, the service was fast, friendly and timely. They have all the normal Bbq options and I ordered ribs. They also offer beef, and in this case I was very glad I did not try that after I heard a waitress say they used eye of round!!!! There is only brisket when you are barbecuing beef. Maybe others like it, I am sure I would not. The ribs were not very hot when they came out; they were very flavorful. I was pleased to discover that I could get them with sauce on the side. I ate two with no sauce, one with the sweet sauce and one with hot sauce. I enjoyed the sauces and really enjoyed the two without sauce. The fries were cooked well and the Cole Slaw was good. They do have several other side options that are more healthy. Although I did not have it, they have a nice looking salad bar as well. I would probably give Larry's a 3.8 if I could and don't feel bad at all about giving them a 4. read more

Service and food are always excellent. We have been coming to Larry's for as long as I can remember and have always enjoyed their food. I lived in Dallas for several years, as a young man, and I ate barbecue at more places than I could count all across Texas and all the way to Ponca City, Oklahoma. They were all different and some MUCH better than others. But Larry's has been doing it for decades in south Alabama for a reason. They smoke some pretty dang good meat. read more

The service was excellent! The staff was extremely nice, welcoming and accommodating. Our food came out quickly. Was very impressed with the hospitality. However, I was very unimpressed with the food. The green beans, mashed potatoes, and potato salad were extremely bland and lacking flavor. The garlic bread had flavor but was very stale. The meat was tough, bland, and not hot. The French fries were the only thing that tasted good. The locals seem to love this place and it is always packed when we drive by so we really wanted to try it out. We were overall very disappointed and won't be coming back. Stopped by for lunch with a friend. Once we were seated we were quickly approached by our waiter and she was excellent. The food was awful. I got the BBQ Chicken with BBQ Beans and Fries. My friend got the Pork Shoulder with Fries and Mac & Cheese. Fries were definitely from a freezer. All of it was bland. And the three sauces are some of the worst I've tasted at a BBQ joint. Gave this place a shot based on a recommendation. 5 star service + 2 star food = a 3 star review. The food is average at best, but the staff is friendly. They welcomed us immediately and made us feel comfortable. The locals seem to like this place. I was not big fan of the potato spud or the ribs. Plates were served luke warm and taste xould not be enhanced even with the sauce. Half of our food was not given to us. When I called them I was told that they "do no offer refunds". The young woman on the phone was snarky and dismissive of the issue and the only solution would be for me to drive back across town to pick up the rest of the food that we paid for. Zero compensation for an error made by the restaurant, don't waste your time. The service is incompetent. I feel sorry for the owners. read more

I ordered a gallon of their Camp Stew. It was $27 or so and it was mostly vegetable soup. For the price, it should have had a little more meat in it. I was also expecting it to have BBQ meat in it, either pulled pork or brisket, but it was just a little ground beef. I did not take a picture of it because I took it somewhere to share with others. I was disappointed though. I have had their fried okra before. It is delicious. Next time, I will try the BBQ itself and skip the stew. read more

We where in the area car shopping and wanted bbq and this place was amazing the salad was huge and delicious and they help me choose the perfect meal which was baked potato with sour cream cheese bacon bits with bbq pork on the side which I couldn't finish it all so I gladly took it with me the sweet tea which I haven't had any in a while was also amazing and was so nice to my babies ......all in all a great place and highly recommended! read more

It reminds me of back home (Texas) the brisket sandwich was really full the Mac and cheese taste like it was made with real cheese and then baked... the ranch dressing was sooo fresh and and had it with the crinkled cut fries. The baked beans was a little sweet yet we left none behind. After adding mustard to the potato salad it was also good. They give you three sauces to choose from I like the mild the best. My wife went for the sweet one. She had chopped pork from the looks and sound of it it was really really good as well ( I'm not a pork eater). Our waiter was Ms. Carrie she was the nicest person. Ate here today for lunch after a trip to the VA doctor. Was not the best of eating by far. Started with coffee since I live on it. The only thing that saved this place from one star was the service. The waitress that took our orders was the friendliest that I have seen in a very long time and being that I am Retired Disabled Navy and I been from Japan to England and Wales to the Philippines and many places in between, she made sure we had what we wanted when we needed it. Just the food sucked, I ordered a barbecued four piece beef stuffed something, well it was not barbecued-it was not four pieces-but it was without any taste. My wife and daughter got Turkey sandwiches one on a bun and the other on Texas toast. Now simple yes, no, me wife's on a bun was supposed to be streadded it twasn't it was sliced. As for me daughter hers was ok except for having cheese which she didn't order. And last my 3 year old grandson who started calling me PopPop today was the only one happy, he got a grilled cheese sandwich his favorite and almost ate the whole thing plus fries. Adding a star because they no longer allow smoking! I actually like this place a bit more than the other reviewers. I find that the service is good and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. I really love grabbing a burger there because I'm not bbq crazy. Prices are very reasonable. If nothing else, it's much better than the Daleville Larry's. They would get three stars if they didn't keep sitting me next to people who are smoking while I'm trying to eat. Yuck! read more

Well, the people are nice. I ordered the super combo and there was nothing super about it except the portion. The chicken was dry as jerky, the ribs were hard and flavorless, and the pork was the worst bbq pork I've ever had. I slathered the food in the bbq sauce on the table but it didn't change how dry the meat was. I am from New Jersey and have never experienced a restaurant like Larry's. When I walked in for the first time I felt like I was in an old VFW or American Legion. I love the pork here!
