This was going to be our first time trying out Effie's since moving here 2yrs ago. Came in around 730pm, place had a decent number of people but there was no line to wait. Unfortunately we were not not greeted by anybody and the blonde with the nose ring who was at the hostess station immediately went to the register and stood there without any acknowledgement, this was followed by 3 more of the staff that came to the hostess station to put stuff down and walk away, I told my husband we would leave after 3-4 minutes, kept making it obvious that I was checking my watch for the time while the blonde with the nose ring kept quiet at the register. Poor customer service from the get go. Naturally we will not be coming back. read more

This place has the most unbelievable food, service & atmosphere I have ever experienced in this town. I have compared their cheese enchiladas to a number of restaurant acrossed the globe, and have yet to find any that have come even remotely close to the ones served at Effie's! I've lived in Enterprise for nearly 10 years. I just decided to try Effie's for the first time today. It was just after opening for the lunch crowd and everything was neat and clean it has a nice vibe in there. The prices are reasonable. The service was good. The food on the other hand was not the end all be all everyone says it is. The chips were from a bag and the salsa was from a can. The enchilada sauce tasted canned as well. The taco reminded my wife of school cafeteria taco day. The Mexican burger was well done, I asked for medium, dry and had no seasoning. The best thing was the fried potato wedges. read more

1st time here. Not what I expected. A little Mexican American with some cool choices on the menu. I like yellow cheese dip which was good! They have the other to so don't worry about that. Had the fajita steak quesadillas. Very good! The decor is pretty darn cool to! I'd like to come bae for dinner and margaritas one day. I grew up with Effie's and it was my favorite place to go. It ended up closing for a time and reopened at a different place. I don't live in Enterprise anymore but when I go through town I always stop and get the chicken nachos. So so good. It's made of flour chips which makes a huge difference. I really hate giving terrible reviews but the food was bad. Like less authentic than Taco Bell. Which was surprising based on the high recommendations. My husband will eat absolutely anything without complaints and after 2 bites of his taco he's refused to eat anymore. The salsa that came with the chips tasted like jarred picante sauce. Friends of ours warned us about ordering Mexican food here but unfortunately we didn't listen ‍. My wife and I went to a Friday night movie and then visited Effie's. My family used to go to Effie's Cantina when I was younger, so I wanted to share the new Effie's with my wife. We arrived right before 9pm. They close at 10, but the whole time we were there, the staff was more worried about closing than anything else. We were not the only table in the restaurant, but we were the last table in the restaurant at 9:30 when we checked out. They cut off the lights before we even left the parking lot. The more significant reason for my one-star rating, though, is that for dinner I ordered a 1/2 order of beef and bean nachos; I did not expect 6 nacho chips. I was even kind of okay with it because I expected a pretty inexpensive check (around 3 or 4 bucks). As I recall, they used to be affordable. I remember seeing the price on the menu, but I couldn't recall once the SIX nachos arrived. When the waitress brought the food, she said, "you're just teasing yourself". I wished she would've told me that literally the order is that of SIX NACHOS, and it would have been even better if she could have warned me when I ordered. At check out, I shared my concern with the hostess. She said that was normal and that I was not the first to complain. I asked how many were on the full order. She explained that the full order was considerably bigger. In my mind, if a half order is six chips, that would mean the full order is twelve. For $6.74, the half order of nachos is completely unacceptable. I honestly was flabbergasted! Wow! read more

We have heard about Effie's Grill for quite some time, and finally decided to try it. We were seated immediately when we arrived. The atmosphere and decor are good. Faith, our server, was exceptional! She had a pleasant, positive disposition, and was very helpful in providing menu recommendations. She was also very prompt and attentive the entire time we were there. I ordered the El Hombre plate (based on Faith's recommendation) & my wife had the enchilada plate, both with rice & refried beans on the side. The food was well prepared and seasoned, although the rice was overly bland. The portion size and flavor of the entrees was good, comparable to other local Mexican restaurants in size and flavor. We thought the prices were high compared to other local restaurants, where we thought the menu options and food quality are slightly better. Although we might come back if friends want to, we will probably mostly stick to our "go-to" Mexican restaurant in Enterprise. read more

With the abundance of chain restaurants around here, I was excited to try Effie's. My husband and I split the pulled pork burrito supreme with the green sauce and with Mexican rice and Cozumel corn for sides and the grilled Portobello sandwich with shoestring fries. The burrito was so smothered in cheese sauce that it was hardly visible. Once I was able to dig it out from underneath, the pulled pork had a decent flavor, but as a whole, it was just unbearably salty. The rice was the only somewhat enjoyable part of this dish, and the corn was not good (I don't know what was in it, but yuck). The mushroom sandwich was, well, a mushroom sandwich. It wasn't good, it wasn't bad, it was just...forgettable. The fries were prepared well but obviously pre-frozen. The only saving grace was the complimentary chips and salsa (only the first serving, additional servings are $1 per each) and the sliced jalapeno appetizer. We didn't pay much attention to the description when we ordered the appetizer, so we thought we were getting something more like jalapeno poppers. These were better: sliced and lightly breaded and served with ranch. I'm not normally a huge fan of jalapenos, but these were tasty and we enjoyed them. It's categorized as Mexican/Tex-Mex, which is somewhat accurate, definitely nowhere near authentically Mexican. The interior is somewhat reminiscent of Chili's. There is no beer on tap, only cans and bottles, and our server was clueless as to knowing anything about any of them (specifically the Cigar City beers). Aside from that, the service was pleasant, but there is really nothing about Effie's that will bring us back. read more

Been here many times prior, but this was really bad. We were met at the door and told it would be a short wait. We watched as three tables were seated by customers who arrived after us. We had to remind her we were waiting. She said they were cleaning the booth an then she sat others in the booth. We finally got seated about 30 minutes from our arrival. The reason I can't give it 5 stars is because they charge $2 for a basket of chips and salsa. Now, it is probably the best chips and salsa around but I have NEVER been to a Mexican restaurant that charged for their chips. The food and service have always been good here, but they are not very eager for business. This is the second Saturday night we have tried to eat here and failed. Closed last Sat night so we tried again. There were several cars in the parking lot, but the door was locked! Posted closing is 8pm but doors locked at 7:37. At a time when so many states still have businesses closed down, you would think they would be appreciative of every paying customer. The reason so many small businesses fail is because no one wants to work. Unemployment salaries are so high now that it is easier to sit at home. read more

While good, it could most definitely be better, but the one biggest problem was that they didn't pay attention to the "details, details, Details". I can only imagine that they're running on their reputation now, so they don't have to work so hard on the food anymore. I ordered the fajita burrito supreme , taco basket, layered dip and sopapillas. Unfortunately, the cook apparently didn't know what went into their food. The Fajita Burrito Supreme had steak in it, but it was plain and unseasoned. Not even pepper, much less any fajita seasoning. As to the "supreme" part, it had onions, roasted peppers and cheese, but the menu does say it's suppose to have lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes and black olives too (to be honest here, I did order it without the black olives), but where was the rest? I guess they forgot. It's also suppose to come with two sides, so I ordered refried beans and cozumel corn... the beans were good, but they forgot the corn. With so much wrong with the main course menu item, I can only imagine the cook was new and unsupervised, or just didn't care if it was done right. The Tacos were good and fresh, but like the fajita meat, they had so little seasoning in the meat that it was just plain. Nothing special at all. The layered dip was good, but the best part was the sopapillas! Paper thin and delicate (like you'd expect in a french pastry desert, not Mexican), they were absolutely delicious! Even if they did fall apart at the slightest touch. I truly hope they get back into paying attention to details, and getting their food right soon. read more

I gotta say, I was looking forward to taking my wife out to here on a date night, ended up doing lunch with her and our son. I ordered the garden salad with chicken on top with blue cheese dressing on the side. The blue cheese dressing was Italian dressing with a few small chunks of blue cheese. Yuck . Wifey ordered a taco with beans and rice on the side. Really you pay extra for the rice??? Any other Tex Mex restaurant they give those to you hand in hand. Son got some kids nachos. Cheese tastes like it was right from the can. But I did give them 2 stars, their appetizer tortilla chips were thin fresh and crispy the way my wife likes them and their salsa was good. Went with my co-workers for lunch. The arranged our area and did a great job of getting our orders and serving us so that we could get done in a reasonable time. The chips and salsa was great. A friend told me to try out this place. So I decided to go there for dinner tonight. It was not at all what I expected. I had no idea that it was a mostly Mexican inspired dinners with a few American dishes scattered into the menu. I was not particularly in the mood for Mexican and was more in the mood for some traditional American dining. But the burrito I had was not bad. Full of chicken and lots of toppings.
