Great addition to Ozark, I'm glad I stopped. Located off of 231 right down for the Inland Gas station. Friendly staff with good food and large portions. I enjoyed the Western omelette--add spinach + hash browns--add onions; DELICIOUS!! I have to admit that it is better than the local Waffle House there in town. Get there at a decent time, because it does draw a crowd, mainly locals and truck drivers passing through. read more

Vittles Cafe is located on 231 in Ozark, Alabama. For a landmark, it is just south of the Love's Travel Plaza on the opposite side of the highway in a small shopping plaza. Walking in, it kind of has a Waffle House type vibe, but cleaner and a lot more warm and inviting. The service here was extremely friendly and outgoing. I went with a burger and their hash brown casserole. Both were very good. The burger had bacon, pepperjack cheese, jalapeño peppers, lettuce, onions, and chipotle mayonnaise. I had them hold the tomatoes. Again, my meal was pretty tasty and my whole overall experience was definitely a positive experience. If you are in the Ozark, Alabama area, I would definitely recommend Vittles Cafe. I will give it five stars overall. read more

For a first timer in Alabama, and my first breakfast stop, I couldn't be more pleased! The food was absolutely amazing, and the kindness can be felt in the air. It has a great cozy small diner feel that really made me feel at home and welcome. So many cool antiques as well inside which was nice to look at. I drive truck and it's hard anymore to find somewhere that 1. You would find parking, 2. Find friendly people, 3. Absolutely enjoy! But here it is! The fall pumpkin pancakes are too DIE FOR! Super fast service and the server Amy, she was so super nice, from her happy smile and good morning, to her recommendations to the check. She is worth her weight in gold! Long Post Warning... So very disappointed in this place. Not that I expected top tier restaurant quality, but I did at least expect to be served. 36 minutes sitting with empty drink cups. Order was in 8 minutes after we sat. My son, finally gets some cheese stix, which he ordered to get his growing appetite started, and still we sat. Not a check in, not a single apology while we watched as others came ate and left. Patiently we sat. The final straw was when the table that had just been seated got their food. I got up, walked to the register and asked to pay for what we had consumed. I explained to the gentleman behind the register why and nope, not an apology, not a let me get a manager, not a single comp. The waitress comes to the register, takes another silent bit of time to calculate and charges me over $16. for 3 drinks and some cheese stix. Sad part is, I still added a very small, killed my heart because I am a generous tipper, tip to this because I was served drinks at least. As someone that runs a business, I am hugely disappointed in the lack of ownership and general disregard for a Patron. This is how small business folks lose out. They don't care enough. Now I'm headed to a chain because if it didn't at least meet expectations, a manager or supervisor will come out and fight for that business. read more

Vittles has got it going on! The best of all worlds: great food, great price, great service. They have an extensive menu with something to please everyone, and every item is executed well. You can tell the chefs take pride in their work, the servers work hard for the customers, and the owners have instilled a great culture at Vittles.
