First time eating at this chain. Loved the "geek" decorations throughout the establishment. Staff was extremely nice and I think every worker welcomed and thanked me for stopping in! I ordered and ate a Philly Cheesesteak. The sandwich at first seemed ok just very bland and I ate half of the full sandwich. It seemed there was little or no effort to cook tasty meat. I took the remaining half with me thinking I could doctor it up at home and enjoy it. Half way home I was feeling slightly sick to my stomach. My guess is the meat was not fresh. Felt slightly sick for a couple hours and then began feeling better. Once my memory fades a bit of the lunch I'll go back and give it another try. This may have just been a one off and maybe if I had ordered anything else the story could have been quote different. read more

I visited this location with my partner and placed an order to go. We left and were about 30 minutes away when we realized that both of our subs were made incorrectly. Thankfully, they were still on gluten-free bread, but they were not the sandwiches we ordered. I called the store and spoke with someone named Cassie (or Katie). She explained that refunds could not be issued unless the sandwiches were brought back to the store. Since we were already 30 minutes away, that wasn't practical. She offered to have the sandwiches remade the next day, took my name and phone number, and said we could come back then. Later that day, my partner went to pick up the replacement sandwiches. Unfortunately, she was met with a rude attitude from SL I presume and was repeatedly told that the sandwiches we received were the correct ones, despite us having photos showing otherwise. Staff continued insisting that store policy required the original sandwiches to be returned before a remake could be provided. I completely understand having policies in place--I work in food service myself. However, because my partner and I have gluten allergies and had received food that wasn't ours, we weren't comfortable eating it. After some back-and-forth, the Shiftlead eventually went to review the order and came back acknowledging that a mistake had been made and apologized. I appreciate him taking accountability but I do not appreciate the other lady Cassie or Katies attitude. While I would still recommend eating here, I strongly suggest checking your order before leaving the restaurant to make sure everything is correct. read more

Placed an order via the app for pick up. Then a few minutes later received a call when I was on the way asking what the second sub was. They knew 2 footlongs were ordered and paid for. Knew details of the 1st sub but had no details on the second sub. Very strange. My husband set me a screenshot of the order details which I provided once I arrived. So much for ordering ahead. Anyway, the two associates friendly enough and fortunately they were not too busy so my wait time wasn't too bad. However, they should look into their buggy app and why the sub customization doesn't come through correctly. The order was any two footlongs for $13.99 - no toppings for the 1st sub and the 2nd had a decent amount of toppings. Seems the app should streamline the order ahead process since all the custom details should theoretically pass through to their location but that expectation fell flat during this visit. I've been eating at Larry's since they opened in Jacksonville. They are a Jax staple and have remained one of our favorites even with the influx of competition over the last decade (or longer). For whatever reason, they can't seem to stay open on my side of town so I've not visited a Larry's in quite some time. I needed something quick and reliable so they were near where I was today. I used their app to order a sausage and peppers sandwich and I will start in saying it was very good. I added grilled onions and it definitely "leveled up" the sub in my opinion. Now the critiques...... As many times as I have visited a Larry's, this was the first time for me to order a sausage and pepper sandwich. What was odd to me was that the sausage was sliced and not in link form. Even the picture online gives the impression as you might expect. Again, the flavor profile was very good but to me, it was like ordering a hot dog and getting sliced hot dog meat buried in condiments. The personnel at this location seem a little disjointed. Not a lot of collaboration so the service was fair at best. What I did notice was that while everyone was wearing sanitary gloves, those gloves stayed on during cash register transactions, answering the phone, etc. and were never changed out so it kind of defeats the purpose. The store wasn't terribly dirty or clean compared to other locations. I would definitely like to see the gloves better managed and we all know that starts with store management. read more

First time I've ever been to Larry's...I'd seen signs and coworkers eating it in the office before, so I figured I'd give them a try...I got a Kong Sub...turkey & roast beef with bacon & provolone...I got it loaded with onions, lettuce and tomato. The thing I've noticed with almost all sub shops, is that the meat generally is the same, but the bread makes the difference. At Larry's, I found the bread to be ok...nothing special or great about it...in comparison, this is a step or two below Jersey Mike's or Jimmy John's...it wasn't terrible, it was just ok IMO. read more

My son and I were driving around, starving, looking for a kinda upscale place, got desperate, came here. Best mistake in a while. The ambiance is worth it alone. Lots of comic items, great movie stuff. Like a Cracker Barrel that decided to be cool. Then, the subs. We ordered sandwiches, but received top-notch hot subs that beat anything from any chain. Very disappointed to see employee making sandwiches visibly without wearing a mask over her face. While her sweat dripped from her face, she screams my name as I hoped it was not my sub she had just made. While other employees wore their masks, it appeared more of a personal decision to ignore proper safety measures in such a concerning time. Larry's is a great sandwich place option if you are looking for a different place than the other sub chains. They use all-natural Raikes Farms Deli Meats and Cheeses. They have both hot and cold sandwich selections. Our go to sandwiches are the Ultimate and Mighty Mitch (which are both hot sandwiches). read more

The employees at this location do not listen to their customers. The first time I came in, I was very clear with my order. When I got it, it was wrong, I asked them to fix it and was very specific again, they were rude about making the correction and still made the sandwich wrong. I gave them another chance on a separate day, advised them of my order 3 times to insure they would make it correctly, asked them to repeat it back and my order was still wrong when I received it. This time I did not drive back to get it corrected. I will not waste my time or money at this location again. read more

I wish I could do 3 1/2 stars. I had the philly cheese on wheat. It was on the dry side and I found some fatty parts. I found it to be a little overpriced for the quality. The other sandwhich was the Raike which was well balanced. I took a few bites and it just seemed bland? I would give the quick and courteous service and cleanliness 5 stars, but the food was just blah. I would try it again though, just to see if one of us is having and off day. read more

I am giving this Larrys 5 stars simply because THIS location got my sub correct! Something about toasted bread and cold meat that the other 2 I have been to just don't get. It's simple toast the bread not the meat. So thank you! The staff was friendly and had smiles on their face. The food was good and tasted fresh. This location is old and could use a little revamp but it's close to work and the food is good. I got my food to go so the decor isn't an issue with me. The sub I got was a Giant Delight with lettuce and mayo cold meat toasted bread. It's really the best and the only sub I get from there. I also had a cookie it was soft and chewy so that was awesome too! Great lunch! read more

Terrrrrrrible customer service. I will preface this by saying: I love Larry's subs. I think overall the business is good, with delicious food. I personally love the location near me (Southside). However I went to this new location, and I am reconsidering spending my money with this business. Terrible customer service here. Ok, I just have to say that since new management took over this place is night and day compared to what it used to be. I've always loved LGS but this one had a bad rep back in the day due to cleanliness and an overall "not so friendly staff". I just happened to stop by there about a month ago in dire need of sustenance and my gyro fix and was surprised to get such a friendly welcome. I go here as my preferred now as opposed to the one off Southside. I had the pleasure of meeting the new owner, Angie and she's as pleasant as she is hard working. I'm usually better at reading reviews than I am at writing them but I was so impressed with the new customer service, and quality of food that it warranted a few minutes of my time. Good food but they constantly get orders wrong or do not complete them. Have ordered numerous times and they have gotten my order wrong half of the time. When I called and made them aware my last order was wrong, they just said ok, sorry. Did not even try to fix it or compensate me for it. Loved their gluten free bread. It's so hard finding good bread and this was amazing. Sandwich could have used more meat and veggies.

Everytime I go here, the place is dead, and now I know why. The owners have the personality of a rock and they don't understand simple instructions. Most Larry's locations will go through a list of the added ingredients (lettuce, tomato, etc) but they just ask, "Do you want everything on it?" I can't count the number of times I've gotten a pickle spear when I specifically said I did not want one (they don't put it in a plastic bag and it leaks all over the place). Also, they are heavy handed on the mustard. Last night, I got a sandwich and that's all I could taste because it was slathered on. I will not be returning and I won't be surprised if they close soon for lack of business and/or customer service. read more
