Jamie came and installed a lock for us, and just like the reviews say, he's great! I have also shopped in the store, and it is nice to talk to sales people that are knowledgable about the products they sell. The guy who helped me actually told me how i could fix the problem with my kitchen shelf. He wasn't all sales-y about it either. Very friendly and trustworthy! read more

They did a terrific job duplicating the key on our company van, a Ram Pro Master. Joe is terrific, professional and dependable.

This is VERY late to post but I have to. If you live in Co-op City then you already know to go out and find your own locksmith! Well here they are. I've used them on 3 occasions for different reasons (never a "re-do) and always satisfied. Great staff and workmanship with pride. Great job you guys! read more

I had an excellent experience from booking my appointment to Jamie showing up on time and installing my lock!!

This Locksmith/Hardware store in the heart of Riverdale, is a rare gem. Reliable, courteous and helpful. I needed a new key for an old (30years) but sturdy 4 drawer file cabinet. Thought I'd have to spend a lot of money getting a new lock installed, but Josh informed me they could make a key by the code on the lock that was already on the file cabinet. Sure enough in 2 days time I had a new key that worked fine and at an amazingly affordable price. They are all for the customer. Get there if you can! Sharynn H. Riverdale, NY read more

This is the second time I have called on this awesome locksmith business to provide service. During the second service call, I had their technician correct work that Webster Lock and Hardware Company did only a year before. The Larry the Locksmith technician called me with an estimated time of arrival on our appointment day, arrived when he said he would, fixed the issue I was having, and had a nice professional demeanor with me. I don't have time to waste on hiring people who don't know what they are doing, especially when they are rude as well (Webster Lock). Therefore, I thought it worthwhile to write another review on Larry the Locksmith to help other people in need of a reliable and knowledgeable locksmith business, make the right choice. read more

I appreciated that the team was wearing masks at all times. Jaime has been extremely friendly, competent and helpful throughout the whole process - from the initial visit, over the estimating process until the final installation. We are 100% content with the results and are looking forward to making use of their professional services in the future. read more

Larry the locksmith came highly recommended. Needed my top lock replaced and the lower lock realigned. Their prices are reasonable and the workmanship is top notch. Jaime did an outstanding job. Excellent customer service. read more

Joe did a professional job replacing my apartment door, which now closes perfectly. He answered all my many questions, got the existing handles to work, and even returned to install a couple minor finishes. I highly recommend Joe and the Larry the Locksmith service and hardware store. read more

Joe called to say he could come early. How often does that happen?? Excellent service, very friendly, experienced and efficient.

I called and spoke to Eric who was excellent. I wasn't sure if they would install the multilock I already had or would make me purchase another one from them. I was very pleased when Eric told me they could absolutely install my multilock without my having to purchase a new one and would just charge me for the labor involved. He gave me a quote over the phone and the cost was very reasonable. I called on Wednesday and Eric was able to fit me in that same week on Saturday afternoon. Already I was impressed with Eric's honesty in not trying to make me purchase something I didn't need. Joe called on Saturday before the scheduled time to say he could come earlier if I was available which was perfect for me. He was quick, efficient, waited as I tried the lock out, and answered all my questions. He even cleaned up afterward! How amazing is that! I was totally impressed and highly recommend Larry the Locksmith. Thank you so very much! read more

This is a fantastic company. Not only did they offer us a great quote, but they were also flexible with their scheduling and timely with their appointment. Once here, they took their time with the installation and made sure we knew how to operate our new lock. They were professional, timely and easy to work with. Would use again. read more

Having Larry the Locksmith in this neighborhood for eons says something very important. Quality, service, assistance and with smiles (under the current masks. ) Always pleasant, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Can't ask for more. read more

A great experience overall. When I called to make the appointment, the person I spoke to took the time to understand what I need and explained my options clearly. On the day, the locksmith called to say that he was running *ahead* of schedule, which worked out great for me. He replaced the existing mortise lock that was installed by a previous owner (and which was the wrong size for the door), changed the cylinder in the existing deadbolt, and fixed the alignment of everything. Everything works great now. Everyone was very professional and courteous, and the quality of the work was excellent. read more

From start to finish my experience with Larry the Locksmith was excellent. Josh helped me think through the selection of my lock and made some phone calls for me and then when it came to installation they were totally thorough and professional. I give them my highest rating. read more

They could not have been more responsive and helpful, from the phone service to the work on our locks. Neighborhood treasure!!!

Very professional, reliable, trust worthy and highly recommended, the best in the area

Excellent experience with Jamie from Larry the Locksmith. He moved our deadbolt to a new apartment. He was punctual - called to let me know he was running a little behind due to his previous appointment - and when he arrived - within the estimated time frame provided, he was professional and personable. He did a great job and I would highly recommend him to anyone. Thank you Jamie. Larry the Locksmith installed this deadbolt when my husband moved in 20 years ago and it's great they are still in the neighborhood. read more

The locksmith wore a mask, was efficient and did everything in a true professional - thank you Larry the locksmith once more ! Great job !

Great local business with knowledgeable, friendly staff. I needed a car key cut and programmed, not all hardware/locksmiths do this, but they did it all! read more

Wanted to have Window Gate installed where our Fire Escape is. Made Easy appointment with Larry The Locksmith. A representative showed up On-Time. He was wearing a mask, perfect. Rep was friendly and knowledgeable. He measured the window quickly, during which we had friendly friendly conversation about the craziness of our times (COVID and politics). He told me the the gate would be ready next week. It was. He returned and installed the Gate with the same friendly chatter and professionalism as expected. Looks Great and provides my home with the security we need in theses unpredictable times. I strongly recommend Larry the Locksmith for Window Gates as well as for your local hardware store needs!! One of their associates, Jaime, put a lock for my door. I now feel like I live in fort knox: feeling very safe. Jaime the locksmith was a sweetheart, professional, happy to explain things, pricing and the whole nine yards. Recommend these folks! Disclaimer: my price range is in regards to a deadbolt door lock. Not sure how the rest of their merchandise compares. read more

My Medeco lock wasn't working. Apparently, it was such a good model, that they don't make it anymore. Jaime fixed the problem, and was polite and efficient. He cleaned up after himself with his own duster and dust bin. I had previously used another company, but now I am a Larry the Locksmith convert! read more

I recently moved to Riverdale and needed my locks changed. A few people I know from the area all recommended Larry the Locksmith. Jamie was amazing. I'm moved into a new place and needed the locks changed. The previous tenant only left the bottom lock key. Jamie was on time and completed the job very quickly. Also it was super hot and he didn't complain once. I would definitely recommend him again. read more

This review is a little late, but back on October 7th 2014, I called Larry the Locksmith based on the great reviews on here. I was visiting my mom for the week and used The Club on the steering wheel thinking I had the key on me. I know... some people say using the Club isn't going to stop anyone, but any little bit helps. Anyway, so I finally realized I left my key back in Toronto, Canada. Called CAA (AAA) they couldn't help me. So I finally called Larry the Locksmith and they sent Jacob, who by the way showed up earlier than the time they gave me. He was very helpful, trustworthy, and friendly. They also took credit cards as payment, which was a plus for me. I definitely recommend this business for professionalism and service. ***** read more

Overall, pretty satisfied - they did a good job replacing my locks. Scheduled an appointment quickly, came on time, courteous, professional - the whole nine yards. I also drop by every so often to buy something for home improvement projects, and they usually have it, for decent prices - and again, everyone is professional, polite, etc. Great neighborhood hardware store. read more

I've come to rely on this store for their really extraordinary service. The minute you walk in, someone is there ready to help you--but not in that pushy, desperate way that some stores have. They just want to make your trip to the hardware store as quick and easy as possible, which I really appreciate. In the past couple of years, I've started just walking in there and telling them my problem and asking their advice. I've done this several times--once I even brought photos--and they've always come through with easy and effective advice (like recommending I buy epoxy to fix some very expensive shelves, rather than dropping a ton of money on replacement parts). Another thing I appreciate about this store: although most of the employees I've encountered are men, I never feel like I'm being talked down to, the way I've felt in other hardware stores. They're cool and respectful. I've never used their locksmith services, so I can't comment on that, although they have made keys for me (quick, effective) in the past. So, if you need hardware anywhere in the Riverdale area, stop by! read more

Based on existing reviews, I contacted this company to fix my medeco lock. Overall, I was very satisfied with the services I received starting with the young lady who provided excellent phone customer service and tips on how to troubleshoot the problem with my lock to the on site service provided by Joe, the locksmith. I would not only ise them again but recommend this company to my friends and neighbors. read more

After going on the Internet and finding "Larry The Locksmith" and getting scammed, I found the right Larry The Locksmith on Riverdale Avenue. Jamie came, fixed the work the other butcher (locksmith) had done to my door and was very professional. Great service, thank you! read more

I called in advance to set up an appointment to have my locked change on the co-op I just purchased. Jacob came out today to change out my locks (that had been drilled out) & called 1/2 hour before arriving. Once he looked at the lock he realized that I had asked for the wrong thing. I had asked for the cylinders to be changed & I actually needed the full deadlock for the top lock. He, be fully prepared, had what I actually needed. Jacob went right to work, installing both the bottom lock cylinder & the top deadlock. He keyed them all to one key at my request & was done in an hour. Quick, efficient, knowledgeable & polite! Should I ever be locked out or lose my keys, he's who I'm going to call to get me back in! read more

They go the extra mile and follow up! They located an uncommon key blank and made the keys. Great local store!

Jaime is the BEST! Professional, personable - just a delight!

I have been going there for over 25 years, Joe is a really good guy, he has an excellent staff and they are super reliable. They are not the lowest priced locksmiths but there prices are fair and there service and quality workmanship are excellent! I highly recommend them! read more
