I love poke. It's such a refreshing meal that makes me feel like I'm eating healthy (whether or not that's actually the case, with all the toppings I add, is not open for discussion). Finding this poke shop was a real treat; a medium gives me two decent portions of protein, and I can get as many toppings as I want! The shop is also really cute and totally Instagram-worthy. The only weird thing was that when we first entered the shop there was a distinctive musty odor, but if you're taking it to-go that shouldn't be much of an issue. I admit I have an obsession with poke and sushi; and this place makes me ridiculously happy. I no longer have to jump a bus to NYC just to satisfy my poke cravings. They are almost on par with the ones you find in NYC. In some aspects, even better. They have sample cups to let you try sauces before you commit to drenching your whole poke bowl. Kind of like ice cream samples but sauce samples! Portion sizing and pricing here is pretty good. They've got a lunch size, medium and large sizes. The lunch size tends to be too small for a pig like me but, the regular and large sizes are relatively sufficient. Unlimited sides and topping, yes! Over 10 sides and over variety of sides and toppings is heavenly. Masago, seaweed salad, crab salad are all toppings that I've seen charged extra at other poke places in the city and I truly appreciate that they're included here. Poke places generally tend to err toward being a takeout spot, but Poke Bar does a good job at being exactly the opposite. Located dead on Lark, the restaurant has trendy atmosphere that provides a good space for hangouts. On top of that, they've got wine and beer! If I go in person they will stack the ingredients but through delivery, even if you order a bigger portion, it will still be 30% empty. I am so sick of the inconsistency. West coast high quality poke spot with trendy foodie vibes and a wide menu selection! My new favorite place in Albany! Poke bowls- Finally, poke has reached Albany! There are three different sizes to choose from- the lunch special (it might be a sufficient portion size if you have a small stomach), regular and large sizes. I prefer building my own bowls because there are so many different ingredients and sauces to choose from. Some of their unique ingredients are zoodles, pineapple, and cilantro. They arrange the bowls very carefully and provide generous scoops of each ingredient, especially the raw fish. The only step that is missing in the poke bowl process is mixing the fish and vegetables in a separate bowl with sauce before placing it on top of the grain/greens. Instead, this restaurant simply squeezes the sauce on top of the fish directly. Overall the sauces and fresh ingredients taste great, but it would be even better if the sauces were mixed into the ingredients in a separate bowl for each order before being placed above the grains/greens. Mochi Ice cream- An excellent share-able dessert! I was impressed with the delicious matcha mochi with 2 scoops of ice cream, toasted marshmallows and strawberry sauce! Definitely an interesting combination of flavors but the quality was excellent! Atmosphere: This restaurant belongs on the west coast, which is a great thing! I wasn't aware of exactly what Albany was missing until this gorgeous gem opened up. Delicious food options. If you like sushi even remotely - you'll love it here. Vegan option as well if you don't like fish. Both cooked and raw options for fish. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. I ordered a base of half brown rice/half zucchini noodles which was a perfect combo for me. Topped with everything I could have wanted, really great options for combos for all different tastes. I opted for the fire sauce and was pleasantly surprised at how spicy it was. I didn't even need to add any wasabi as I was quickly eating my way through the bowl. You can pre-order your food and they offer curbside pickup. I can already see this being a great place to quickly grab food for lunch. Not working on Lark street, I can't find the time to get down there and sit for lunch. Cutting down time on parking to grab food to go gives me more time to relax before jumping back into work. I feel funny giving a poke bar 5 stars, but in the capital district, this place deserves all 5 stars. Those familiar with Lark St know what it's all about. It's fun, liberal, hipster-ish, a mash of race, ethnicity, and socioeconomy. Tats, beards abound. (Actually, this is true of a lot of upstate NY, but I digress) Three blocks away is what I would call the dangerous part of Albany. Having said that, there was a sweet Maserati parked in front of Lark St poke bar. This area is what I would call a smaller, slightly more dangerous version of Williamsburg. You have to hunt for parking, and it looks like it would be a nightmare, yet I have yet to have trouble finding a spot. Inside, the dining area is spacious. Never had trouble getting a seat. Staff: friendly, helpful, and they move things along. Food: it's poke, and you can choose to make it the way you want it. I get the large, with three scoops of salmon, and load up my bowl. It's freaking delicious, filling, and I felt like patting myself on the back for eating a healthy meal and not a burger and fries or wings. We loved poké in Hawai'i, and were delighted to see this place open - my wife in particular is all over anything raw fish-based. So: high hopes. The food mostly fulfilled them, happily: deceptively large portions, well-priced. A little more intensity to the flavours would be good - sesame in particular should stand out more, and ginger seemed absent - but the proportions worked well, tastes were clean and harmonious. Not a huge fan of the spam fritter thing (musabi?) but they were free, no big deal. Almost docked them one star for the pickup experience: they advertise curb side delivery, but without anywhere to park and without being prompt. Circling the block three times was aggravating, and in the end we had to go in and collect - this option simply does not work well. Refusal to take a phone order is also irritating, and the menu webpage is almost impossible to use on a phone... not a good setup. So I would not argue with a lower rating, but am apparently in a good mood this morning... read more

OMG! Only thing I can say about Lark St. Poke Bar. This place is amazing! I've been meaning to try this place since it opened and a few days ago I was finally able to and I was wowed. Located right on Lark, parking can definitely be tricky since it's only on the street parking, but don't let that deter you. The inside is small but very clean and has a totally cool vibe to it. You order at the counter and go through all the various toppings (think Chipotle). The menu has (obviously) poke bowls whether you want to make your own with two or three proteins or choose from one of their several house creations. They also have a few non poke options. The toppings here are extensive - everything from hot cheetos to avocado to wonton chips. They have tons of vegie options, crunchy toppings and even extras that most places would charge extra for like crab salad. They have a lot of great topping sauces, my favorite being the spicy ponzu. I really appreciated how for the base they had a bunch of options including zoodles - how awesome! The portions are ample, they definitely give you a nice helping of your protein. The prices are very fair for the quality and quantity, $12 for two proteins and $14 for three both with as many toppings as you'd like! Everything is so fresh. The people who work here are also very friendly and helpful. I cannot wait to return here, even if it's totally out of my way - it's that good! read more

I ordered take out for lunch on Monday after reading all the nice comments on fb after their grand opening. I ordered the large bowl with spicy tuna, spicy shrimp and crab and ahi tuna. I had half rice and half salad and a million toppings, all included! After placing the order online, I got a phone call quickly after to confirm my request. I arrived at the restaurant and parked outside. I called in and the gentlemen crossed the street to meet me with the earnest smile and sincere thank you! So far the customer service is on point. I get to my office and am more than delighted with this gorgeous sushi bowl. The ahi tuna was so fresh and clean tasting. There was a nice kick from the spicy tuna and spicy shrimp and crab. A friend brought us here for dinner one night about three weeks ago. We have been back about 5 times now. Yep - sometimes twice a week. It's THAT good. Ingredients are consistently high quality and they have daily specials that range from $3 poke tacos to a free drink next door at LAX (for every large). First off let me say I love this place and the food has always been amazing. But I had a very disappointing experience last visit. My card was successfully charged the first time around but the cashier claimed it didn't go through (I literally watched it say "approved" on the screen and made her aware). She insisted on running it again. Once again it says "approved" and she says she needs to call manager but she again didn't think it went through. Well just as I told her, it went through charging me twice. The manager tells me I can expect it to get it back in nearly 5 days (this happened on a Friday, so yes, was coming into a weekend). What is upsetting is there was no attempt to make it right. I've worked service industry for 15 years, and every place I've ever worked would have offered some type of "sorry for the inconvenience" or "peace offering"" in an attempt to apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately $20 is a lot of money to me at the moment and I certainly didn't plan on leaving there having paid double, nearly $40. read more
