If you'd asked me the first time I came here, I'd have given Laredo a 5 star. The food was spectacular. The vibe inside is just so perfect and cute and colorful. And our service was outstanding. It cannot get any better than Matteo, who was so kind and provided spectacular service. However, the second time was so horrible, I would give a one-star. The service received absolutely ruined our entire date night. As someone currently 6 months pregnant, I'm not going out much. So it was very special for me and my husband to get out of the house and we chose Laredo. However, from the second we sat down, we felt like our server was just annoyed at our presence. We barely had time to review the menu, in fact, my husband had no time because he went to the bathroom. We were asked over and over and over if we were ready until we finally just ordered. My water was empty the whole meal. Our table was so small, I actually had to keep my tortillas on my lap! And no, our server didn't ask to add another table or if we needed anything. My husband asked for salt and to something to make his food spicier. We were told they had nothing. So finally, Matteo seeing all of this (NOT EVEN OUR SERVER) asked if we were ok and needed anything. And then proceeded to get us all the things we needed, salt, salsa, a small plate to put my fajitas on, since I had nothing, water, you know... everything our server didn't help us with. Oh, and as we could hear the table next to us, they were having the exact same experience. The food was very good and I appreciate the vegan menu, but it wasn't so good as to be worth ruining our entire night. IF we come back again, we will only come for Matteo at this point, and that's a pretty big IF. So the 3 stars remain, only for our first dining experience here.

Stars - A Whole Vibe from Start to Finish Laredo DC seriously blew me away. First off, the food? Ridiculously good. Every bite was packed with flavor like the chef was showing off--in the best way possible. You can tell they put heart into every dish. Now let's talk service--our waiter was hands-down the BEST I've ever had. Attentive without hovering, super knowledgeable, and just had great energy. He made the whole experience feel extra special. And the ambiance? So chill, so cozy, and honestly just the kind of place you want to stay and vibe in for hours. It felt warm, welcoming, and stylish without trying too hard. If you're debating going, stop. Just go. You'll be obsessed.

    Inside

Great food, great service, and such a nice vibe! Everything was good and reasonably priced. All the staff were extremely nice and friendly! Definitely coming back!

The food and service at Laredo are great! We really enjoyed the cocktails, queso fundido, chiles rellenos, and enchiladas mole. We also each got a cocktail - the paloma was super balanced, and the cucumber margarita was very refreshing. I'm part Mexican American, so my tastes are pretty particular when it comes to MX cuisine - but everything we tried was solid. The space is super colorful and vibey. Great spot to satisfy when a craving hits but you don't feel like cooking! They also brought us two free tequila shots at the end of the meal (there was a small timing mishap with the food but no biggie) - it was so appreciated!

    What a great tasting experience

This is such a welcoming space," the atmosphere, the food service provides is amazing and so fast I got a good experience at Laredo I really recommend this place

A friend and I visited to enjoy our birthday meals last Friday afternoon. We enjoyed the food, as well as the drinks. We got the cucumber margarita pitcher, queso, a burrito bowl and the Hawaiian fajitas. The service was great and really made sure to be cognizant of my friend's allergy and make recommendations to avoid certain ingredients. The outdoor patio was extremely cute and it was nice to sit and get some fresh air.

Steak Fajitas with an absurd amount of celery

The flavor of my fajitas was pretty good but I was really thrown off by the celery and the sheer amount of it. There was so much celery that it felt slightly like filler which is incredibly disappointing since the fajitas were $25. The rice was real strange and looked like frozen premade Chinese fried rice (frozen peas and carrots and everything). Cons: - not handicap accessible, bathrooms are up a very steep staircase - tables so close that the people behind me were inches from me - questionable ingredient choices Pros: - restaurants ambiance was unique and had character - service was great and quick - steak had a great flavor

    Vegan tamales

This was my second time here and I was pretty disappointed after a magnificent first time. Don't get me wrong, the food was really flavorful, but there were several of hiccups along the way. We started with the vegan tamales. Laredo is an early adopter in using non-dairy cheese in Mexican food, and sure enough the tamales had mozzarella melted into a red sauce on top, which was wonderful. However the filling seemed like it was the frozen veggie medley, so it was wasn't very hearty or substantive; each bite was a mix of just corn meal and peas/carrots/green beans. I wouldn't order again. For the entree we shared a Hawaiian fajita platter. Now the fajitas here are a must order if you are getting vegan food. They bring them out on the hot and sizzling cast iron platter, Laredo chefs know how to season the tofu and veggies to make them really flavorful, and it comes with the works: rice, beans, cheese, guac, pico. The problem was it came with three small tortillas. Given the heaping mounds of delicious fajita filling (stuffed in a pineapple half) and accoutrements, three tortillas was enough for about half of the meal. This felt super stingy and how obviously not conducive to sharing the large dish. When I asked for more tortillas, they promptly brought them out but had the gall to charge extra. Sigh. This was a three star experience, but given that I've been here before and it was fantastic, it averages out to four stars for me. I was bummed the server was indifferent when we told them they got the order wrong ("I'll look into that" and then never came back). But last time our server Juan absolutely killed; friendly, helpful, funny. It was cool sitting in the Frida room in back, and I like that they have outdoor seating. Very grateful that they have a vegan menu and I will def be back.

What do I love more than traveling?! Eating delicious food!! At Laredo DC My review of Laredo DC -- I'm going to tell you, if I loved it or hated it. You'll have to reading to learn the whole truth about my recent trip to this Mexican Restaurant. Review: I ordered the Masa de Puerco al Horno. That's a oven roasted pork stew smothered in onions with rice, beans and plantains. It was fabulously tasty and delicious. I loved it. I highly recommend this dish, and this restaurant. Laredo is a small business owned by a beautiful Latina, and it's located off of Connecticut Ave., not far from the National Zoo. It serves Tex-Mexican cuisine. They also have happy hour, brunch and a vegan menu, if that's your preference. This place is perfect for Holiday, special occasion, treat yourself, or just for a lovely dinner out. If you've enjoyed this video, like it!! Live and eat deliciously, and travel often. Big hug

If you're lucky you can get parking right up front in the circle, but if not, there is a parking garage right behind the restaurant with ample parking. One of the unique tacos here, "The Noodler," is probably one of my favorite Taco Bamba speciality tacos. It's soooo tasty. It's fun to sit at the bar during lunch time, you'll get great service there and the bartenders are friendly and open to chat. If you're in a bigger group or family oriented, the outdoor seating is great because there's a big open space if you need an option for running around and keeping an eye on the kids.

I remember seeing this restaurant when it was being built and even went there with a colleague some years ago. I was in the area and knew I needed to get something that was not too heavy, so I said I decided on "Taco Bamba". The menu had changed a lot since the last time I was there, and I had the hardest time deciding. So, I ordered the "Its Chiko (Not Cheeko) Taco and The Noodler (Crispy Catfish) Taco". When I took the first bite of the catfish I was like "what in the shamrock tastes like this". Fortunately, it was the same reaction when I took the first bite of the Its Chiko. I tasted every ingredient, every sauce, every cut-up vegetable, the taste of how they cooked the catfish and shrimp, how they cooked the tortilla, the presentation, and how fresh everything was. It was all intermingled together so well to provide you the best tasting meal. Who does that; okay, many places try to imitate. However, these two have my vote today. It was funny listening (after I ordered my food) to some young male co-workers in line looking at the menu trying to decide what to get; hearing their reactions to all the titles along with the descriptions of dishes. Through the years one thing I've noticed is that for you to give a review you don't have to stuff yourself full of food to be able to articulate whether a restaurant food is good or not. It's not the quantity of food; it's the quality of the food. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some other things on the menu. The restaurant was clean, bright (not sterile), friendly staff, with a pleasant atmosphere.
