TL;DR: Daniel is a great computer tech and a really nice, helpful and knowledgeable guy :) I brought my PC in after the motherboard shorted out on me. I was originally going to go the RMA route with Costco where I got the PC bundle from originally, as it was still under warranty. But Costco insisted they reserve the right to unilaterally delete all the data on my PC during the free fix. And backing up the data myself at that point would mean voiding my warranty with Costco Daniel was really helpful with explaining the list of options I could go down -- whether it was just for him to backup my data in a way to retain my Costco warranty and then have Costco fix the motherboard for free -- or have Daniel do a semi-rebuild of my PC, replacing the motherboard with something that isn't just going to crap out in another year or two like the first one. I went with the latter, and I'm glad I did. And Daniel was way quicker with the turnaround than I expected, got me my PC back in a week, just before they closed for the weekend. I brought my old computer in to Laptops Plus to have all the data moved to my new computer. There were a number of serious issues between getting the data from the old computer software into the newer applications of my new computer. The fix turned out to be very complex and was a lot longer than anticipated. Daniel , who helped me,stuck with the job until it was done. AVOID !!! Really bad, at first glance it appeared they finally fixed my computer after taking way longer than promised, then you get it home & WOW WHAT A MESS (The owner says once the computer leaves the shop they are no longer responsible, Ya there's a reason for that)! This was 6 months ago & I am still unwinding the nonsense (files missing, files copied multiple times, broken pathways & lost data). Not to mention they destroyed my Mac, they told me it was the 'motherboard' & handed me back my Mac in pieces saying it was nothing more than a paper weight, turns out it was the hardrive, what a joke, had to buy a new mac. read more

They fixed my laptop, but not a great experience. Had to wait 3 weeks before they even touched the computer. A week after that they called to say the hard disk was bad. We went back and forth and agreed on a price to install a new 512 GB SSD and for them to reinstall Windows 11. This was on a Friday and the tech told me he would do it that day. I tried to give them a break by saying I did not need it that fast and if I had something by the end of next week that would be fine. End of next week rolled around and I called them the following Monday. The tech said they had not started the work and were waiting for me to get back to them. They denied I gave them the go ahead to do the work. They did it that day (I guess a rush job, which I did not want.) When I picked up the laptop the top of the pristine computer I gave them was all scratched up. The tech claimed the computer was scratched when he got it which was totally untrue. There were other problems as well. They agreed to install a 512 GB SSD drive. The drive I ended up with is only 465 GB a difference of 47 GB. Not what I agreed to. I think these guys are so backed up with work they really do not care about customer service. I will have to think long and hard before I go to them again. read more

I was missing a screw in the laptop case. It was in an odd spot near the power button and caused problems with the sleep mode. Originally went to the geek squad at best buy where I was told "there's lots of problems here and we don't have a screw that will fit." A friend recommended LAPTOPS PLUS. I brought in a mid-2011 MacBook Pro that had overheated and then would not boot properly. The man running the show is Levi and he always treats you like your needs and concerns are the most important thing to him. He listens, recommends and fixes the issue if possible. I also have the virus program they offer, and the repair coverage package for my whole family that they offer. You pay a monthly fee and when something happens, it's covered by the plan, no extra charges. They can also access your PC at home if needed, so no need to go in. This place is a gem. read more

I am eternally grateful to the guys at Laptops Plus, particularly Levi. I walked in on a Wednesday morning with a broken external hard drive, in a panic thinking I had lost all of my client's design files over the last 7 years. I asked if he thought we have the files recovered (if at all possible), and whether it would be possible, like, yesterday. He was able to pull it off in 24 hours with an unexpectedly reasonable expediting fee. He was also very sweet about tolerating my 18 frantic phone calls to check in over the 24 hours that he had my drive. While sadly he wasn't able to recover everything, he was able to at a minimum recover more than half of the drive & all of the PDFs so that if I was missing a design file, I now have the ability to recreate it. I will 1,000% use them again and am very grateful for their patience and assistance. read more

Worth the drive from San Diego! Recently, my laptop screen hinge busted, making the screen go black. I called around to different repair places but was concerned about the cost effectiveness of repairing a $500 laptop at $89 minimum and $89/hr. Was it even worth it? How would I know how long it would take? The $35 flat diagnosis fee (which could be applied to the repair) made it worth driving an hour round trip to have the techs at Laptops Plus take a look at it. Within a few days, they called me with the diagnosis and estimate. They even offered to transfer all my work files onto an external hard drive so I had access to them during my repair (for a small fee). My laptop is now back with me and running smoothly, screen hinge and busted RAM replaced. I will most definitely trust this business with my computer repairs in the future, should I ever need their services again! read more

These guys are tech-wizards! We had an external hard drive as our back up for our PC. It failed, taking a lot of important records and photos with it. We brought it to these guys and within a week they had repaired the external hard drive enough to transfer all of the data to another drive. They were in constant communication throughout the entire process. We always knew how much we would be charged as we went along. Reasonable prices, great communication, quick repairs and advice on how to avoid this situation in the future. We never felt like we were being "up-sold". Levi diagnosed the problem right away: my mouse was dying. He sold me a replacement and problem solved. In and out in about 15 minutes.

I like the worker so I avoided writing this review but they really did me dirty on a refurbished laptop I bought that clearly had problems when they sold it to me. I was sold a laptop I thought was an overstock laptop and an old model. It turned out to be used and refurbished but I wasn't told that until after I wasn't allowed to return it. The laptop never worked. I brought it in and they did an extensive service and cleaning to the computer and got it working perfectly again. But within a few days it wasn't working. They wouldn't let me return or even trade it in. It's junk. I bought another from a different retailer immediately. $250 lap warmer. Nothing plus about it. On another occasion I brought my i-phone to change the battery. While doing it they broke the screen and I had to buy a new one because the hinges on the old one were 'broke' before. After trying new battery and installing new screen it turned out that there was just dust in the charger port. I went back to the old battery and paid for the new screen. Then my phone started texting people on its own and scrolling and not being responsive. I shamefully sold it for $60 on CL. However, our computer is there now. I do think they do a good job removing virus. So despite selling me garbage and destroying my phone my family still uses their services. third times a charm! But likely I will not be using their services much more. read more

The manager of this particular location is a hot tempered and perpetually impatient fool by the name of Dave. This man is worth the effort of avoiding. As a person who works with many people who work with laptops, I cannot recommend Laptops Plus because I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in the way they have handled "repairing" my friend's work laptop. About 2 months ago, I spilled red wine on my friends new work laptop, right in the center of the keyboard. I immediately turned it over. I had heard about Laptops Plus somewhere, so the next day, she dropped it off at the Carlsbad location. They called after looking at it, said it was fixable, would cost approx. $200 total to fix, by replacing the keyboard, and would take 2 weeks. ONE MONTH later, they called her and said it was all fixed. I picked it up, paid around $200, and was assured it was working correctly so I returned it to my friend. She tried it, and it didnt work. I took it back to Laptops Plus and was assured they would figure out the problem and would fix it promptly and that it would not cost much more. ANOTHER MONTH LATER, they called my friend and said that it needed another part and that this part WASNT AVAILABLE from the manufacturer. They couldnt get it from the manufacturer so they would have to "make it" themselves. This additional part that they "made" will cost me $180 and the extra labor would cost an additional $85/hour. My friend expressed her great displeasure at hearing this, and they relented and took off the labor charge. Here, I am supposed to give a rating to a business for a "repair" that cost me twice the original estimate, and took a month and a half longer to fix then it was supposed to. Additionally, they installed a part "they made", not even an original-replacement part that belongs to this laptop computer. If there was a rating below 1, that is the rating I would give. P.S. I have not picked up said laptop yet. If it fails to work now or after a short time, and I dont get some satisfaction from the management/ownership of Laptops Plus, I will have to take further action past Yelping my disappointment. read more

It all started with my 1 year son getting his hands on my laptop and some how managed to crack my screen. I decided to order a screen off Amazon and fix it myself but as I had a lot going on, I just didn't have the patience to do it. This place is GREAT! They did exactly what I needed, in a timely fashion, and for a reasonable price. I had two PC laptops that needed repairs: 1) had a bad fan and was overheating. This was needed for a work trip and needed to be ready for me ASAP as I was leaving town - they ordered the fan, fixed it, and I had it within 3 days. 2) my second PC had a nasty virus on it. They fixed it, backed up my files, and it's now working great. I would absolutely go here again. read more
