On Thursday I needed a suit cleaned ASAP for a funeral. Two other places told me Monday was the best they could do. I went to Lapels at noon. They offered to have it ready by 5:00 the next day. I used the services for the better part of 1 year. It's convenient to have the delivery service. I spent about $$1.5k on cleaning. My wife took a brand new, unworn women's dress jacket to have it cleaned, and they damaged the jacket. When confronted with the situation, they suggested the jacket was a thrift shop item, and refused to accept responsibility for the damage. She had the receipt in hand for the purchase and delivery notice that showed it was delivered the same day she dropped it at Lapels. The owner raised his voice at her. In spite of all that, against my better judgement, I continued to use the delivery services for convenience, until ultimately two consecutive drop offs had to be re-cleaned because they smelled "sour" (like clothes you launder that you leave in the washing machine for too long). I give up and will take my clothes to a competitor. The decline in service quality in my experience seems to have started in the last 2-3 months. The two stars are for the convenience, and nostalgia from when it used to be great. read more
