I'm really upset with Lapels. I went in this morning to pick up my husband's shirts , which were supposed to be done yesterday. well they couldn't find them. I was called later in the day and was told they found them and they'd be open till 6 . We went at 5:30 and they were closed!!! so now we are going on vacation without his shirts. This review should not have a star and this store should not be allowed to operate. If you could see how they destroyed my 2 designer dresses you would agree. My husband dropped them over 2 weeks ago and they were not ready a week ago. On going today, they said they were still not ready so I told him to get them anyway. He was told he could not have them as the mgr had to allow and they were afraid the black had run into the white color. Obviously they did something wrong - so he picked them up and was told if remuneration was wanted, they need receipt. Obviously I do not have a receipt as they are over a year old now but they are 2 expensive designer black & white dresses ( R.L.) that are worn for special occasions. The white trim has black all over it and horribly ruined. The other even pricey, the white trim is now gray & off white. They should have called 2 weeks ago and told the truth and then discussed it. This is not only bad customer service but illegal and shows what kind of people or organization owns & controls Lapels. Ironically we live here over 40 years and the original owners of this dry cleaners were very competent & we were very happy with them. Anyone who still goes here should be beware. I have so much to say about this place. To begin, I have never been to a dry cleaners before this. My new 17 week old puppy threw up on my dad's very nice couch cushions at our beach house and truly my life flashed before my eyes. I quickly searched for dry cleaning near me and found Lapels! Everyone who works at Lapels was so kind and helpful to me. The price was very affordable and they did an amazing job- it is like nothing ever happened to the couch cushions! They even had it ready in a few hours the day of because I was leaving town. You could tell that they value their customers and the service they provide. They made my first experience at a dry cleaners super easy and welcoming. Anyone who needs a good dry cleaners they can trust should go here. Tip: The nice lady who works there told me to bring in whatever you need dry cleaned as is. They lost my suit and i have had no luck getting in touch with anyone at the store nor at the corporate headquarters Looks like my only recourse is to bring them to small claims court to sue them since now i have to buy another suite. They cut a hole in my suit pants and refused to accept any responsibility. This was only the second wear on the pants and were dropped off with no issues, but upon putting them on I noticed a perfect straight line cut across the shin area, unfortunately I was away at a wedding so last minute I had no option but to wear these and attempt to conceal the rip with tape. When I brought these back to Lapels after the wedding they refused to believe it could possibly be there fault yet also stated they fully check for rips before the item is cleaned the person working the counter apparently thought it was perfectly fine to talk down to me on this as well in a considerably rude manner. I used Lapels to have alterations down on a gown with a lace overlay. They made the process very easy. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, and the work was done on time as promised. They lost my black capri pants. I returned the ones they gave me by mistake. They charge you upfront. They are the worst dry cleaners ever! I made three trips there and numerous calls. The unprofessional manager/owner screamed at me over the phone. Telling me I got my pants. I paid the price and never received my item back. RUDE. UNPROFESSIONAL. LOST MY GARMENT. I had a terrible experience with this cleaners. Please read the entire situation if you plan on ever giving them your service. First and foremost--they lost my garment. I took in a sweater from Club Monaco and a blazer from Calvin Klein and when I went to pick it up, it was nowhere to be found. Then, I receive a call later in the day that they actually gave it to another customer. Thankfully, the customer returned it. When I went to go pick it up, I mentioned I was surprised that it was lost to begin with and very unhappy about the whole situation. The owner had the AUDACITY to tell me that mistakes happen and "why are you surprised? Things like this happen all the time. You should be happy I rectified the situation and got it back." HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEN--on top of that. This women expected me to pay full price, when it is very common to give a discount when the service is unacceptable. I paid and told her she obviously needed the money more than I and that I would never come back here and suggest none of my friends or family go back. My husband needed his expensive suit cleaned and I chose to bring it to this place. It wasn't busy and it was the only item I was dropping off. When I came to pick it up, they told me they lost it. But in my many years as a consumer, there are only a handful of businesses that actually go above and beyond 'just doing business'. These are the unique proprietors who run a company that shine above all others. It's not all about making a profit. It's about helping others in need. These are the businesses we keep going back to time and time again no matter what they charge, no matter where the location may be or what their hours accommodate. Even if there is a small inconvenience about doing business with a store or shop, the consumer who has been treated with such a high level of service will go out of their way to make sure they continue to purchase from that store and only that store time and again and again. And that is what sets dry cleaning establishment, Lapels of Brick apart from all other dry cleaners I have ever done business with. And they deserve the highest recognition for a recent business transaction that I could only rave about. On a recent trip back to NJ for a wedding from our home in Florida, I cautiously (even foolishly!) packed an expensive dress that needed alterations to fit properly. [With one week to go before we left, I thought I could find a dressmaker in my area to make the alterations but surprisingly I found no one!] So I took the dress with me to NJ thinking I could find a dressmaker or admittedly, I would just purchase another dress while in NJ. Driving directly from the airport down Brick Blvd toward our rental in Seaside I saw that Lapels dry cleaning was open at 7 pm on a Friday night. I ran into the store with my dress in hand and was met by Leslie who sweetly listened to my desperate story of how I had a dress that needed alterations for a wedding in less than 2 days. Leslie stated that while Lapels offered rush alterations the seamstress, Allison, would not be in the store until the following day; Saturday after 10 am. Leslie wasn't sure that the job could be done as Allison scheduled her own services. So we rearranged our tight travel schedule to be at the store after 10 am the following day. (After leaving Lapels that evening, I was still 'on edge' not knowing if I had to cancel my plans and spend the money and the time trying on dresses for the event. Who wants to spend their vacation doing that?) The following day, Saturday morning, I was greeted by Allison, the star dressmaker whose title in my eyes is now, "Ninja Seamstress". She gladly took on my alterations job and did so with enthusiasm and empathy. (If you are reading this, you have no idea how relieved I was!) Further, when I tried on the dress for Allison, she noticed that one of the sides was incorrectly shaped so not only did she take in the seams to make the dress fit me, but she corrected the seams so they matched on either side. Anyone else might have just taken in the seams without addressing the oddly-shaped pattern of the dress. I left the shop so grateful the job could be done and was able to enjoy the rest of my day with my family. Finally, I could enjoy our vacation! I picked up the dress the following day...one hour before the start of the wedding. In fact I wore a different outfit to the cleaners and changed there before arriving at the church. Nothing like pushing it to the final moments! The dress fit beautifully and I received a number of compliments on how well it fit me! I couldn't have been more satisfied. And while I don't usually discuss price, Leslie and Allison only charged me $17! And it was lightly pressed which I greatly appreciated! It was beautiful! My contact with Lapels is the best I have ever experienced! Not only did I receive a perfect rush service but I was greeted with warmth and compassion. This is one establishment that knows how to treat their customers RIGHT! We used to live in Ocean County for many years. I patronized a number of dry cleaners in the area. I can tell you that if you are looking for THE best dry cleaning services in ALL of New Jersey, go to Lapels on Brick Blvd! If you need alternations, Allison is the best seamstress around. She is the daughter of dry cleaning owners and has been in the business for years. The quality of her work is unbeatable and she's just plain nice to work with. They pickup and drop-off twice a week to me in Freehold, NJ for NO additional charge!!! I wear $2,000 suites and i wouldn't trust anyone else with them! Such a disappointment! I called at 7:15 this morning asking if they would tailor my pants for me. They promised me the tailor would be there from 10am-3pm. I told the guy that I'm coming on my lunch break around noon. I get there at 12:15 only to find out the tailor left for the day. Huh?! I called for this very reason. I recited their phone number. The guy says that's us! Okay so who dropped the ball?! Unacceptable. Now I have to find another tailor. Why is it that when you do your part, people fail to communicate and don't take ownership for there failure. Highly frustrated! read more

I've been doing business with Lapels for over 3 1/2 years and they continue to be the best cleaners that I've ever used. If I ever leave anything in a pocket, it's bagged and attached to my cleaning when I pick it up and my clothes are always ready when promised. They also have a great tailor, Alison on site. I dropped off a brand new dress, still with the tags from the store still on it, to be pressed only. When I picked up the dress and went to wear it there were stains on the front of the dress and on the sleeves. The next day I returned to the store to show them the stains. I was told the stains were on the dress and they were not caused from them pressing the dress. I was told they would try cleaning it but if they didn't come out I would have to return the dress to the store I bought the dress from. I went to pick up the dress again and the stains were still there. A man from the back started yelling at me that he did not do this to the dress, that the dress was worn and washed before I brought it in to be pressed. First off, there were no stains on the dress when I brought the dress in, and secondly to be treated like he treated me when I went back in is unacceptable. I am a long time customer who should have been treated better. I will now take my business elsewhere and will advise my family and friends to do the same. I heard good things about lapel so I decided to give them a try. When I arrived to pick up my cleaning, the young lady asked me if I had received a call because there was an issue with one of my garments. I replied no! She then went to the back and a woman came out and said:" when we tried to get a spot out , the solution made a hole in the garment."She then tried to put the onus on me by saying" how long did you have the stain?" No mention or apology for ruining my jacket let alone providing any remuneration for damages done. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with garment repair service and customer service! I had leather skirt repaired, it came back looking distorted and in a worse condition that it was left there previously to be fixed. The seam was crooked and pulled and when I said that the job wasn't done nicely the lady at the counter said "well that is what happens when you rip the leather " it wasn't even ripped the seam started coming apart! She was rude and wouldn't even give a second of her time to acknowledge how horrible the skirt looks, $200 leather skirt is not even wearable anymore! Customer service was disgraceful, job was done poorly and now I have to find a real place that is honest and does a good job. Please do your research before you bring you garment there!!! read more
