I can't say enough about the great experience I had with LAP Movers. My mom is a senior making her first move in several years and she took the initiative and made the initial request by herself. She had instant buyers remorse because she had never used a moving company before and wasn't sure if she made the right decision so she called back and cancelled. Once we (me and my sister) found out what she did (over a day later), I called back to plead with them to please put her back on their schedule. No pleading needed! When their profile says they do senior moving, it's not just the physical aspect. They were so understanding about her situation and her nervousness and hesitation and put us back on the schedule! They also gave me a heads up that I should check her accounts to make sure she didn't get taken advantage of by any other companies! They send a text confirmation, confirmed 24 hours before and called the morning of with an ETA. The movers who came for the move were absolutely amazing! I've had better customer service at the DMV. The movers left multiple belongings of ours behind. They gave us a quote after a thorough walk through and when the actual movers showed up they added 110 square feet to the estimate (over $1000 more). I tried getting someone on the phone to contest this but they suddenly weren't answering the phone at 9am on a Monday. After finally getting Jose on the phone and explaining the price increase AND belongings being left behind, he promised up and down that his supervisor would call and figure out getting the price back down. He also promised my stuff would arrive quickly because we were immediately available to receive at our new place. Luis called me unrepentant about the situation and refused to do anything to make it better. He called me a liar when I said the movers had left behind certain things (an Electrolux vacuum, a swiffer, a broom, a dustpan and brush, and several exercise weights). At this point I had been in my new apartment for three weeks with no answer on when my stuff would arrive. Our stuff finally arrived weeks after driving as quickly as possible across country so we could be there to receive our things. The movers dropped our stuff off and quickly left. A bunch of stuff is broken and I have yet to hear anything on how they're going to compensate for everything they put us through. If you want to be scammed out of $10,000, be treated like absolute dirt, and have a bunch of stuff broken and thrown into the back of a truck for weeks, you should definitely call these guys. read more

I had the crew pack and move a large home - two of their largest trucks filled to the brim! I am no stranger to moving, as we were a military family. Bar none the crew consisting of David, Luis, Baldo, and Daniel were absolutely FIRST RATE ! I am a tough customer, with many pieces of antique furniture, lots of glass and mirrors, and some really fragile antique marble pieces. They were fast and efficient, while still handling each and every piece with care. They protected each piece very well - much better than the last movers, and without my having to request extra padding or special handling. I hired LAP movers a few weeks ago to move out of my apartment. Jose, who I spoke with to arrange the move was very clear about giving me details and answering my questions about the move. He called the day before to confirm everything and was very communicative about what I should expect. The movers (David and another mover whose name I didn't catch) showed up right on time the next morning and were very quick moving my stuff to the truck. These guys came to my house Everything was going fine I came downstairs and right in the front part of the house was a blatant scratch on the hardwood floor I know my house and know there was no scratch. So I asked one of the guys, hey what's going on with this? He replied "don't know, don't think it was the couch, but looks like the dolly could've done that!" I was trying to see if it would rub out, but no Then the foreman David comes in the house and I tell him Look at the floor He immediately gets offended! And defensive!! Raising his voice, startling my kids upstairs and our dog! Saying "we didn't do that, that was there, if you knew about hardwood floors you would know!!!" I'm bewildered thinking, seriously dude? I know my house and I know that wasn't there before. Also thinking what's this guy talking down to me with a Condescending tone about not being a "hardwood floor expert" And his argument was that it's an old scratch and you're trying to pin it on us! It was like a kid stole from the cookie jar, had chocolate on his mouth and was defensive lashing out saying he didn't eat em!!! Seriously??? I got more than enough things to worry about in a move, than to sit here and have a back and forth with some uppity foreman about something that was fresh, brand new and right in front of the main door to the house! So I was having a pretty good experience with them. Then we came to a crossroads about the extra $20 charge per wardrobe box that was never mentioned when I was provided with an estimate. During my quote "everything was included" and the movers would accommodate with packing assistance and I would be charged for their time alone. It was apparently in the contract in the small print that there was a charge for the boxes, which was actually not a major issue for me. Where it got really weird and disturbing for me was when this young employee named LUIS insisted on removing my clothing from the wardrobe boxes with a very nasty disposition EVEN AFTER I told him to leave them in there because I would address the misunderstanding about her charges with the individual who provided the estimate. He then proceeded to debate with me about whether or not the leg on MY desk was detached when they picked the furniture up. LUIS must not have a real good grasp on reality and was clearly not trained well. MAYBE he doesn't understand the difference between a child and a grown ass woman. This was a very poor reflection on the company. His manager was not much better. He chose to debate with me about whether or not he should have indicated during the quote that the boxes were $20 each. I literally felt like I was in the twilight zone. I know for a fact that if I were a man (specifically a white man) Luis would not have totally disregarded what I asked and his manager would not have debated about good customer service etiquette. I will never use this company again and I truly recommend that you don't either. I paid $445 to be disrespected, scrutinized and patronized at the end of a long and tiresome day. I could have paid $270 at 2 other moving places that I spoke with but LAP seemed more professional. What a joke. How absurd and disappointing they were. Never again! read more

Just recently moved from Long Beach to San Diego and LAP movers made it such an easy experience! They showed up early in the morning and moved everything out into the truck in less than 2 hours!! And my complex is not an easy one to move out of! They were so professional, nice and quick.. which is great because your paying by the hour. They unpacked everything into our new apartment super fast and made sure they were very careful without damaging anything! I would definitely call them for my next move and would highly recommend them to any family and friends! Also they had the best price I could find for everything that's included! Our total ended up being very reasonable and affordable, especially compared to others. We had 2 men move our stuff about 35 miles one way distance and it was as easy and smooth as you'd hope. They knew how to do everything and were quick in loading up the truck. They dis-assembled and re-assembled our bed perfectly and quickly. If I could give zero or negative stars I would. This was the worst moving experience of my life, and I've moved across the country twice and within LA multiple times. These guys were recommended by a friend of mine and I thought I would take a chance on a new company, which turned out to be the worst mistake I've made moving in 9 years of living in LA. I spoke with the office no fewer than 5 times to arrange for this move, and not once did they inform me that they required a parking permit for their truck (which takes West Hollywood 4-6 days to process and approve, so the customer would need advance notice). I've moved many times in this area and everyone double parks temporarily or in front of approved driveways. My building manager allowed them to park in front of our driveway - but these movers declared that they refused to use their flashers to park in front of the driveway, rudely told me that it was "common sense" for me to have secured a permit from city hall (but somehow it's not common sense for anyone at their company to have mentioned it even one time during weeks of coordinating with me?) and even after I agreed to cover a parking ticket should their truck get one, they up and bailed. Literally, they just drove away, leaving me stranded on the day I needed to move out of my apartment. I was crying in the middle of the street, pleading with them not to leave me stranded and they did anyway. The office told me "too bad" and then just straight up ignored my calls and texts. Honestly I rarely leave Yelp reviews, but if I can spare one other person from suffering this same ordeal, I hope this helps. read more

We recently used the LAP Movers team for an apartment to home move and it was the most efficient and safe process we've ever experienced. When I requested moving quotes, the team was courteous about following up and hands down provided the best rates and customer service in town. On the day before the move, I received a text with the anticipated moving time. Even though there was an hour window of when the movers would show up, they arrived close to 15 minutes into that window and started working. Like I said, it was the best company we could have selected and they were able to move every piece carefully and safely. Even with having to move furniture up three flights of stairs, they still finished within the time frame we were allotted. My experience with this company started out great. I was impressed with the professional manner of the conversations, the information I was being provided with and their inventory options online. I had at least four conversations with Jose over the course of planning the move. I was concerned that the move was under priced, but he assured me that the pricing was good, even after I updated my inventory list. The movers arrived on time and they did call when they were close. However, once they arrived the service level went down. I explained both to Jose when we discussed the move and to Luis, the foreman, that we had been staging things in a spare room and the garage. Luis insisted on packing the house first, but only took the four recliners and two of the four beds along with the refrigerators and the freezer. The Captain's bed and couch were left in the garage. The movers sealed empty boxes and shrink wrapped empty Rubbermaid drawers. Then the unloading took forever. It also appeared the truck was too small. I was told they were bringing a 26 foot truck, but it looked like a 15 foot truck. Then the bill came and they overcharged us for an additional hour. As we cleaned up the old place, we found numerous empty tape reels thrown all over the house and outside our new home. We had to rent a Uhaul to complete the move and we rented a 26 foot truck and hired two college kids who moved twice as fast as the four movers LAP Movers provided. I attempted to resolve the matter with LAP Movers. In the end they credited me $79 for the double trip charge as they over-estimated it. Jose said that I failed to communicate what we wanted onsite and insisted that the truck was the 26 foot truck we discussed. He said that the quote provided was for a minimum of four hours. He basically shifted the blame to me, even though I was very clear with him and his movers. We discussed how much needed to be moved and if four hours would cover it more than once. With four people moving us I thought we would be okay with about five hours and then I would have to pay for an extra hour. The move went six and I was charged for seven. Despite numerous emails that included a picture of the truck from my Ring doorbell, I was not successful in coming to a satisfactory resolution. Of course Luis offered to make a second trip, but the total move would then be close to $2,000! The quote was for $580. Our total cost was $840 which did not include the $145 deposit. My emails are now being ignored. I'm very disappointed. I was clear with my expectations. Had that happened I could have been better prepared. I recommend anyone moving in California just rent the Uhaul and hire some college kids who are anxious to make some cash. In the end you will come out ahead. Had I done that this move would have been far less expensive. The bottom line with this company is that they overpromised and under delivered. read more

They're very responsive when it comes to getting the initial business, but then proceed to ghost you when you try to get a hold of them to fix mistakes they made. After trying to get a hold of someone for weeks and then trying to schedule a time to fix their mistakes, I get a call from them saying that I can pay somebody else that they referred. When I asked what happened to scheduling a time to fix their mistakes (as they mentioned), they said "sorry, nature of the business".
