Delicious noodles! If you are craving fresh, quality noodles, then this is the place for you. Service is quick and easy, and there is a discount if you pay in cash. It has small, Asian restaurant vibes with big flavor.

I tried the new menu item beef broth soup with rice noodles. It was delicious! A traditional northern china dish, it came with a bun for dipping into the soup. It is a bit spicy from the peppercorn, but definitely a comfort food. Clean interior and attentive staff. Menu is digital, casual seating. Parking is always an issue on convoy, worth the wait! The spicy oil wide noodles is also a favorite here.

Yummmm, the noodles here are amazing! They are hand pulled and there are so many options. I love a good thin noodle thats chewy and bouncy while also soft, the perfect texture. The sour cabbage beef pancakes are so good! crispy and flavorful. All the soups are yummy too. The noodle bowls have huge portions and lots of noodles.

Authentic Chinese noodle. I'm from Monterey Park and I would say that the noodle here is very close to SGV level. Their noodle is handmade (you can see the chef literally pulling the noodle from the window). Their beef noodle soup is.very simple and clean, not too oily. I do wish they have more veggies with their noodle soup, but you can always order more appetizers, which are just as delicious. The restaurant is located in a decently sized parking lot, but given it's Convoy, the parking lot becomes an absolute nightmare during prime dinner time especially on the weekend. Highly recommend to come here around 5PM if you want to avoid a parking disaster. Overall, highly recommend this place if you are looking for authentic, handmade, Chinese noodle soups.

Their fresh noodles are delicious! I do like the flat thick noodles most. We ordered their popular braised beef noodle soup and it was really good. I recommend that dish. The beef was very tender and goes perfectly with their chewy flat thick noodles. They gave us scissors to cut the noodles. I wish they were larger scissors. The cold sesame noodle was ok. The sauce got pretty thick and the dish became clumpy. The tea egg was a bit disappointing. The appetizer we ordered with the thin crepes was pretty good though.

Lanzhou Noodlelicious serves popular Chinese braised beef noodle soup in the center of Convoy district, San Diego. I've visited this location in the past as I was craving braised beef noodle soup and never realized their food were all Halal. We recently had dinner with friends; we each ordered our bowl of beef noodle soup and had some cold side dishes to go with it. I liked their braised beef noodle soup (4/5), although their soup was not as flavorful as others I've had in the past. My favorite cold dish was the wood ear mushroom and tripe, I definitely would come back and order those to go with the main dishes. Loved visiting Lanzhou and would definitely come again!

A casual spot for authentic chinese noodles! The cumin beef noodles were full of flavor and had a good portion of beef and veggies. The beef noodle soup comes without spice, but you can add chili oil to your liking. The lamb skewers also seasoned perfectly and not chewy at all! I loved that they offered a large variety of noodle shapes, I tried the flat noodles and the thin flat noodles and both were great, I just wished the flat noodles were a little thicker. They also offer unlimited noodle refills if you order noodle soup on weekdays! Service was efficient and vibes were casual.

I thought this place was under new management but turns out it's the same owner as before when it was called Green China Grill. He just changed the name. We enjoyed our food very much. The owner was our server today. He was very friendly and gave great suggestions. We ordered the beef sirloin noodle soup, braised beef noodle soup, beef pancake, cumin beef fried noodle, and lamb and beef skewers. Hand pulled noodles made fresh here. There's a small window where you can watch them make it. They were very smooth and long noodles. Both the sirloin beef noodle soup and braised beef noodle soup were similar but I enjoyed the braised beef noodle soup more because it had chunks of beef that was slightly fattier than the sirloin beef which were thin slices. Also the soup had a bit more flavor too. I loved the beef pancake. The owner suggested to add pickled cabbage in it and it was delicious. The pancake was thin and crispy not doughy. This might have been my favorite dish here. The beef and lamb skewers were very tender and flavorful. This was a pleasant and satisfying meal. Price was comparable with good size portions.

I was pleasantly surprised by this unassuming restaurant. Located in a plaza with many other Asian food stops, the competition is steep. We ended up eating here because the wait for other restaurants was too long and we were able to be seated here right away... so ngl, I was a little skeptical. But their beef noodle soup tasted of a umami clean broth, epitome of comfort Asian food. Another big hit was the cumin lamb fried noodles. Skip the beef rolls - oily with lackluster flavoring. Oh! Of note, their noodles are hand pulled! Authentic Chinese food.

The handpulled noodles are indeed amazing here! So chewy and perfect. You can see the chef making the noodles right from the window. All the dishes were very flavorful, with my favorites being the cumin lamb sliced noodles and beef roll. I'd recommend getting a cold plate too. It adds a nice refresing flavor to the carbs. This place is located in a very busy plaza on Convoy, so be warned the parking in this plaza during peak hours is literally a nightmare.

Don't let the terrible parking situation in convoy be a deterrent from eating good food! This place is such a solid spot if you're craving some hot Chinese noodles. The make their own noodles PLUS you get free noodle refills if you still have soup left (disclaimer you can't take the refill home). Since the noodles are so fresh they soak up the soup super fast but it's all ok because they won't last that long in the bowl anyway since you're about to eat them up real fast haha. I went with a party of 8 and it wasn't crazy crowded for dinner on a friday night. We were served promptly and got our water and noodles refilled without issues. Inside it's pretty no frills, so don't expect anything crazy. I'd go again for sure.

The ambiance was lively, the servers were working their butts off the keep the dining space clean and were also super sweet/friendly, and the food was yummmmyyyy! maybe i just wish there was a little more meat in the soup? Very important to have more yummy halal spots around town though! Yayy

Lanzhou Noodlelicious is a popular, halal Chinese restaurant in San Diego known for its authentic, hand-pulled noodles made fresh in-house, visible through a glass window. We love this place, great prices and their cold salads.

Shan Xi Magic Kitchen has been on my Yelp Want To Go list ever since my brother and SIL told me…read morethat they really enjoyed a Chinese restaurant in Las Vegas and were told that a similar restaurant existed in San Diego. After their experience in Vegas, they tried Shan Xi themselves and glowingly talked about the delish food there. Today, 3/4s of my fam ate here and we definitely concurred with my brother and SIL's favorable assessment. 4.5 stars because their grub was amazing, but it could be more customer friendly where one of the staff checks to see if we need help ordering instead of ordering from the QR code menu. Shan Xi Magic Kitchen is located in the ultra competitive Convoy Asian District specifically on Convoy Street within the Convoy Village shopping center. The restaurant is next to our fave Asian drink place called Yun Tea, it's next to Olleh KBBQ, next door to Szechuan Chef, and a short walk to BB.Q Chicken. This is a popular strip mall, so it could be challenging for you to find parking. Parking is free for 90 minutes, but you'll have to pay after that time ends. Shan Xi is nice inside with gray brick on their walls, decorative lighting surrounded by rattan, Chinese dolls on a shelf, Chinese inspired figurine art on another wall, and a beautiful curio/screen containing Chinese knick knacks. Seating consists of tables/chairs and a long leather bench. Our servers were friendly, but to me having to order from a QR code is impersonal. I'd rather talk to a person, so that I can ask what they recommend. Plus, if diners aren't familiar with this type of cuisine, I'm sure they would have a bunch of questions. From Shan Xi Magic Kitchen's website, "Bringing the bold flavors of Northwest China to San Diego, Shan'xi Magic Kitchen serves authentic regional specialties. Our restaurants specialize in hand-pulled noodles, savory bread-based dishes, and traditional Chinese comfort food prepared with time-honored techniques." After being told that Shan Xi was similar to their positive dining experience at a different Chinese restaurant in Vegas, my brother and SIL tried Shan Xi and they were impressed by what they ate here and told us that we needed to eat here ourselves. Since my wife and I were off midweek, we invited our son to join us for lunch. We ordered the following dishes and feel free to mimick what we ordered: spicy cumin lamb burger, hand pulled noodle with cumin beef, beef magic fried rice, dry fried green beans, and a side of white rice. My brother and SIL love the lamb burger as a appetizer and we really thought it was tasty too. If you're not a spicy fan, this might not be for you, but the lamb was tender. The pita bread needed to be softer. Their hand pulled noodle with cumin beef was stellar, chewy, and delectable. Loved their beef magic fried rice and it ate really well by itself. The fried green beans were addicting, garlicky, and just yummy. I'm a fan Shan Ci and can't wait to try their other entrees. My brother and SIL were spot on with their positive reviews about Shan Xi Magic Kitchen. It was a blessing to have a spontaneous meet up with 3/4s of my fam and grub on some memorable Chinese food.

Shan Xi Magic Kitchen has Good Potential, But Missing Some of the "Magic". 徒有其表,未得其神…read more My wife and I came here tonight for a date night, and overall, I'd say Shan Xi Magic Kitchen has a lot of potential, but the food still feels like it is missing some of the finer touches that would make it truly memorable. First, some positives: the staff were very courteous, attentive, and eager to help. The restaurant was completely full when we arrived, and there was a party of 12 ahead of us, but the staff communicated the seating situation clearly. Despite the restaurant being packed, my wife and I were seated right away, which I appreciated. We ordered: * Two bowls of cumin lamb hand-pulled noodles * Stir-fried string beans * Shrimp fried rice The hand-pulled noodles had a good chew and satisfying texture, which is important. The cumin and spice were also prominent. However, my bowl had noticeably more grease sitting at the bottom than my wife's, and the flavor didn't really build as I ate. After the initial cumin and spice, it eventually became mostly just spicy rather than developing more layers of flavor. The shrimp fried rice was probably where I noticed the biggest difference. It seemed to use relatively fresh rice rather than day-old rice, which isn't inherently bad, but the grains didn't have that ideal 「粒粒分明」 texture you normally look for in good fried rice. The rice was more starchy and tended to clump together, and the overall flavor wasn't particularly 鮮 or savory. The stir-fried string beans were enjoyable, but I felt they were missing that strong 鍋氣 you get from proper high-heat wok cooking. They were cooked, but they didn't have that slightly charred, smoky, caramelized quality that makes stir-fried vegetables really stand out. One interesting observation: the clientele tonight was predominantly younger and English-speaking. That's obviously not a measure of food quality, but when I'm looking for particularly authentic Chinese food, I often notice that the restaurants packed with mainland Chinese, Taiwanese, or other Asian diners tend to have a certain extra level of authenticity behind the food. Shan Xi Magic Kitchen definitely looks and feels like an authentic Chinese restaurant, but some of the food tonight left me feeling 「形似神不似」or it has the appearance, but not quite the soul. And that's ultimately how I felt about this visit. Compared with what I remember from visiting over a year ago, I think the restaurant has a high ceiling, but it consistently misses a few of the right notes. The food isn't bad in fact, there are several things here that I genuinely enjoyed but it doesn't quite reach the level where I finish a dish thinking, "Wow, I need to come back specifically for this." They may have around 2,000 reviews, and I can understand why people enjoy the restaurant. But having had quite a bit of Chinese food in LA, I've personally had better versions of these dishes there. Overall: good service, good atmosphere, solid potential, and enjoyable food but the execution needs a little more refinement before it becomes truly memorable.

At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice.
