Came here with my niece and wife the other day because they was recommended by a friend about the acid toner of this store. No one was wearing a mask inside (last time I checked, they are still mandatory). Every employee inside checked us out/what we were wearing (sorry I am not wearing Prada) and treated us as if we were not welcomed there, asking us passive aggressive questions as if we could not afford the products they were showing. Mind you, my niece is 14 and is very shy about trying new products and asking for help - we asked a few questions and we were shut down by the owner (?). The actual place seems very well designed and I am sure the products are good, but we did not end up buying anything because of the treatment the worker gave us. read more

I had a wonderful experience with an acupuncture facial with Yoon. The atmosphere of the space is warm and peaceful and Yoon was very interested to learn about my skin and the issues I was having, as well as my general health. She was kind, gentle and knowledgeable and the treatment itself was incredibly relaxing but also effective. (She took before and after photos). My face was bright, lifted and toned. Sandra is an exceptional healer. I'm currently seeing her to treat my acne, which I've suffered from on and off for several years. After several weeks of hesitation that I now wish I hadn't had, I had my first TCM dermatology appointment at the beginning of January 2017. The TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) dermatology treatments consist of an initial session with Sandra in which she asks you a very thorough set of questions regarding not only your skin, but also your overall health and lifestyle, as the approach of Chinese medicine (as I understand it) is to put the systems of the body back into harmony so that the body may achieve homeostasis again rather than express its imbalances (as acne, psoriasis, eczema, or as any non-dermatological conditions). From the information you give her, Sandra gives diet/lifestyle advice, if applicable, and then designs a custom herbal formula for you, which you later pick up at an herbal dispensary in SoHo. The formulas are liquid and come in single-dose pouches. After two weeks on the initial formula, you check in with Sandra, answering specific questions and sending photos to her so that she may decide whether or not to modify the formula. Follow-up monthly appointments involve both monitoring progress as well as noting down any changes (be they dermatological or otherwise) that you may have experienced over the course of the month. She may also perform acupuncture or any other treatments (facial cupping!) she feels to be appropriate. Sandra puts an extraordinary amount of attention into the work she does for her patients. Her knowledge, consideration, dedication, and respect is far, far greater than any non-TCM dermatologist (or any other kind of doctor) I have ever received treatment from. I really couldn't be more grateful that she is the one guiding my healing. It must be noted that this treatment is a process, not an event (as most is in life!)...results are gradual and may not express themselves dermatologically at first. The herbs work internally, slowly but surely, to correct imbalances in the body that may have been there for years and years, so it's not fair to expect that balance be achieved in a matter of days or weeks...yet patience is rewarded with long-term health measured by not only the condition of your skin, but the state of your body and mind as a harmonious whole. An absolutely stunning experience! Melani is lovely and my hour-long glow facial was blissful. Facial massage is a key part of this treatment and was very relaxing. Huge fan. I have been a client of Sandra (acupuncture) and Turiko (orthobionomy/massage) for 6 months and I am already planning to kidnap them both if they ever leave Williamsburg. Seriously though, the physical space that Sandra has created at Lanshin is a reflection of her knowledge and her way with patients: intimate, focused, effective, and serene. She has worked with me through two surgeries and I credit her acupuncture and guidance with herbs in speeding my recovery process. It has been remarkable. We are also working on recurrent vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss, and I am seeing slow but steady results. She is a great listener and has an ease in the treatment room that allows her to switch modalities based on need (sometimes mid session) which has been highly effective for me. Literally, she just seems to know what my body needs and what to do. Working with her is a joy. Turiko is a freaking whiz - I will admit I had never heard of orthobionomy before I went to Lanshin (went in for a massage w/ Turiko which was great); I had been a devoted deep tissue, "if it doesn't hurt you're not using enough pressure" sort of massage person. So the concept of very light adjustment and 'listening to the body' really smacked of some sort of woo-woo new age crap to me. But, I tried a combo Orthobionomy/ deep tissue massage, figuring what the hell I'll give it a whirl....And it was major. From recurrent neck pain, to my recent surgeries, to residual GYN issues, and also the hearing loss issues mentioned above, Turiko is working on all of these with me via Orthobionomy and I cannot speak highly enough of the results - far more profound and more 'gentle' than the western massage techniques I have tried religiously in the past. The results speak for themselves and in concert with Sandra's acupuncture I am feeling so, so good. Energy is up, posture and skeletal issues are resolving.... Britta is incredible!! I have been seeing her regularly for facials for almost 2 years now, and I recommend everyone to her. For many years, I've struggled with skin issues including sensitivity, irritation, acne, and congestion, and after starting to see Britta, I truly can't say enough good things. First of all, she is very knowledgeable about skin types, products, herbs, tools, techniques, diet, and anything else that might affect your skin. The entire ethos around the skincare recommended at Lanshin is all about natural, herbal, organic, etc. Britta works with YOUR skin and compounds that ALREADY exist in nature to clarify, improve, tone, strengthen, beautify, and illuminate. I've been introduced to products (ahem, Laurel Whole Plant Organics) and techniques that have improved my skin soooo much and have also been noticeable to people around me. Britta is always current with the latest research and testing products firsthand which is also valuable. The facials themselves are a dream. First of all, Britta is a lovely and angelic person, so it's a pleasure just to talk to her. But she also has a very calming and soothing bedside manner that translates into how she actually touches your skin. That's sooo important. When someone is working on your face, you should know that they're doing it with care and awareness. I've had many facials in my life and none have compared to Britta's with how she really tries to nourish and work with my skin, rather than "fighting" some of its problematic tendencies. She also keeps the extractions relatively minimal but efficient. I notice a HUGE difference in my pores after I leave. I always go for the full 90-minute sessions with Britta and they are worth every penny. Every time I am transported to some deeply meditative, "other" place. I went to Treatment by Lanshin for a treatment facial, something I've never done before. It was, overall, one of the most positive experiences of my life. Everything that was used on my face had been made especially for my session--everything was custom made and all natural. In fact, when I arrived my facialist asked me "do you have any food allergies?" I told her no and asked why she asked. She told me it was because she was mixing my products in the back. Not only was I impressed by the fact that my facial treatment was literally being made in the back just for me, but I felt very taken care of. It was such a unique service--a top of the line facial AND acupuncture, which I had never experienced (or heard of) before. The energy in the place was incredible--relaxed, nurturing, and holistic. I've never been a big believer in this stuff until now and have become a regular. Best of all, my skin remained glowing and hydrated for WEEKS following my first treatment. I don't tend to get blemishes but I have MAJOR issues with dry skin and was blown away by how well they dealt with that. I see a dermatologist for other reasons, but as far as actual skinCARE goes, Lanshin is a MUCH better resource for me...and a LOT cheaper! read more
