I had family come into town and decided to plan Thanksgiving dinner here with everyone, saving the trouble of cooking and cleaning this year. Darling was amazing to work with, she helped me coordinate and adjust our numbers since one family couldn't make it. We were very excited to have a great meal! Upon showing up, we parked our cars in the lot and went in. They had live music in two different areas, and in the main space a giant buffet that spanned the outside of the space. Carving station, oysters and shrimp cocktail, cheese and fruits, desserts galore, and special touches like a cotton candy machine for the kids and a fresh fried beignets station. There was a bar set up outside the meal areas so we could get cocktails and wine by the glass we ended up ordering a couple bottles at the table. There was a lot of people enjoying themselves. The drive to the lodge was beautiful, it was a colder day but the sun was out and everyone got to have some great food and still enjoy themselves and the day. Thanks again to the team here, from the servers and runners to the hosts. We had a great time. Special shout out again to Darling for her help with this. I appreciated her catching the little details as we got closer to Thanksgiving I'll be back! Would love to play golf here sometime. read more

This review is specifically for the resort/lodge where I spent two nights during a work conference in January. On the plus side, we were able to bring our two dogs. However, we were limited to staying in the small rooms in the main lodge versus the more spacious villas or lake houses. It also cost $100 per dog. Though the room was near an exit, it was also very annoying to have to walk down the hall to provide relief for the dogs especially because we/they are used to having a yard. The room itself was nothing special, not super modern or updated. Reasonably comfortable bed, pillows, etc. and a balcony. We were on the side of the lodge but did have somewhat of a view to the lake. There was a decent size fridge, a Keurig, but no microwave. You could adjust the thermostat but the AC/heating unit was so ridiculously loud. I did appreciate that they made it easy to access the back of the TV to connect our Fire stick, even providing an HDMI cable. The WiFi was free and not super fast but it worked. It was winter and rainy most of the weekend so we did not get to take advantage of many of the activities people come to Lake Lanier / Lanier Islands for. But was nice to see lots of deer while walking around the property. The resort offered valet or you could also self-park nearby. The only reason I would give this three stars versus two is because the conference amenities were very good. Even the food was definitely better than the average fare you'd expect in this kind of setting. My colleagues who organized the conference said how impressed they were with the service. I would recommend this venue for a similar kind of function but would not spend my own money for this. read more

Feel like it was time to write an update for Lake Lanier and must say now that I live closer it is absolutely beautiful and a wonderful place to visit regularly. I bring my dog here pretty much daily and enjoy the walks, the views, the lake, the vibe, and occasionally the sun sets. The views are majestic and the land is well kept and truly a gem of Georgia. Doesn't seem like it really gets crowded during the week and the lake is truly something to behold. Doesn't get much better than this. Five solid Stars for Lake Lanier and two thumbs up. I usually read reviews before planning outings, and this time I did not and unfortunately, it showed. I have previously visited the Christmas lights at Callaway Gardens, Choccolocco Park in Oxford, and Stone Mountain Park, and I can honestly say the Christmas lights at Lake Lanier were by far the worst experience and somehow the most expensive. Before heading up, I checked the price and saw tickets listed at $25, which seemed reasonable. I had planned a full day for my family and waited to purchase tickets until I knew we would have time to go. Once I realized we could make it, I bought the tickets because I had already told my family we were going only to find the price had jumped to $60. When we arrived, vehicles were driving in both directions with their headlights on, which took away from what little lighting there was. The number of actual Christmas lights was very minimal. I even asked an employee if we had missed a turn or section, and he confirmed that we had not. If you have very small children, I can see how the rides might be acceptable. However, there are other parks that offer far more lights, a better overall experience, and similar activities for less money. The only positive takeaway was that the property appears to have the potential for a decent water park in the summer. Hopefully, that experience would be far less disappointing than the Christmas lights were. read more

First, the good... the lights at the main gate entry are impressive. But after you cross the bridge, you've pretty much seen the only good part that Magical Nights of Lights (MNOL) has to offer. This is a very poor light display. You would do much better driving through neighborhoods. Or, as my wife and I did the following night, just drive up to Helen, GA. There, the lights are beautiful, plentiful, and free, and the continual traffic jam in the town guarantees you the time is sufficient to see them all. There are two HUGE corporate sponsors for MNOL - Coca-Cola and Georgia Power. Why did the display cost me $46? $23 bucks each for me and my wife. And the drive was confusing; they need to hand out maps to help you find all the displays. But maybe the cost of 50-cents for a printed map would have been too much for the park to handle for the $46 bucks and two multi-billion-dollar corporate sponsors. The technology also exists where the park could add the route to Google Maps. Oh, and no place to eat. Really? There is a HUGE arcade, though, much like the ones I used to go to in the 1970's. An arcade. Really? Pretty sad. At one end of the display, you come to a roundabout, and 50% of the lights are not even working. Does anyone who works there ever drive the display? The lights were better at the Snow Island section. But getting out of your car and visiting that part of the park would have cost an extra $20. Or maybe $60 for a new ticket, I don't know. Save yourself the money. We won't go back to that very poor "light display." Helen is a much better choice, and only $10 for parking, $30 for two for a carriage ride, an extremely festive atmosphere, and great restaurants. MNOL isn't worth the drive or the money. read more

Magical Nights of Lights 2025 review: I was thrilled to hear that Magical Nights of Lights was returning. For years, this was a cherished family tradition--something we looked forward to annually. When it changed and eventually disappeared, I was deeply disappointed, knowing I wouldn't be able to share the same magic with my own kids. Unfortunately, saying the event is "back" feels like an exaggeration. While many lights have returned, the heart of what made it special is missing. In the past, the drive-through lights led to a festive wonderland: a massive Christmas shop, Santa visits, s'mores around roaring wood-burning fire pits, custom ornaments, concessions, and more. This year, the experience ended at an arcade and restaurant bar. A small marshmallow stand with hot chocolate was the only nod to tradition, and the Griswold-themed pop-up bar--though cute--simply wasn't the same. Even the fire pits were disappointing--tiny gas ones that felt more like something you'd buy for your backyard, not the grand communal fires that once brought people together. The lights themselves stretched for miles, but there were noticeable gaps and missing displays compared to years past. Even the atmosphere was diminished. Previously, guests were asked to drive slowly, dim headlights, and use running lights to preserve the magic. This time, no such guidance was given. Cars sped past us, headlights glaring, some not even there for the lights at all. It completely broke the mood. At $50-$60 per carload, the experience was not worth the price. Unless the event is restored to its original glory--with the full festive village and traditions that made it so beloved--I won't be returning. Right now, it feels less like a celebration of Christmas and more like a money grab with minimal effort. Verdict: A nostalgic name without the nostalgic magic. Sad, and not worth the cost. read more

I guess my husband should have looked at YELP reviews before he randomly decided that our family was going to up and go to Lanier Island Resort. From the looks of the website, this place looks great! Since I'm the type that likes SPACE, I was very much drawn to the townhouse situation (2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus kitchen), so we booked one of those for 3 nights. The price was pretty dang affordable and we realized WHY after we arrived. First off, don't go to Lanier Island Resort in April. A lot of the "fun" amenities are closed, and the weather isn't always inviting (for us it was 62 degrees as a high and windy). Secondly, don't go to Lanier Island Resort if you think this Game Changer place is going to be epic like the photos depict it to be... It's nothing more than a few electronic games that steal your money... They do have a golf simulator area but we didn't even notice it until we were leaving. Honestly, I felt kind of dirty just being in the Game Changer building. Third, if you're looking to stay in a place with character, well, the townhomes don't have much at all. I can't really complain because our townhome came with the space I wanted for my husband and two boys, but my husband is always looking for uniqueness when we travel and these homes were nothing special. This place is kind of funny to me. Some aspects seem really nice (the main lodge, the golf...) and then other aspects feel super trashy (Game Changer, Margaritaville...). My family and I arrived on a Thursday evening and by Friday morning... We decided that we didn't need to stay 3 nights, so thankfully without being penalized, we were able to cancel our third nights stay. We truly couldn't have gotten out of there fast enough. Not sure if we will be back in the summer when things will actually be open (because I'm sure it's much more enjoyable), but for now, we will just stay away. read more

Overall the family had a good time and made memories...which was the goal. But this place is NOT worth the expense. $65 for one person to enter Snow Island License to Chill + $20/car for parking. Tubing hill is advertised as "8-stories"...maybe that's the total length but about a 1/3 is not covered in "snow." Despite lines, one two lanes open. Had plenty of staff there to open up at least 4. Ice skating rink is a joke-very tiny...you have to turn the whole time...and the skates make it impossible. They don't tighten around the ankle-it's actually quite dangerous. (I know how to skate-not my first go.) The other activities are fair rides. Should be $40 maximum, including parking. Further, the "bonfire" is a propane fire that doesn't emit heat...only the smell of gas. Food is outrageously overpriced. I ordered something and after waiting 15 minutes, asked for a refund...the order hadn't even been started. TONS of teenage employees everywhere (on the hill, in the shop, in the snack area, in the kitchen)...but all just standing around chatting. This years 4th of July 2025 fireworks were not particularly good. The display started at 9:45 and was over by 9:57. It's possible that the display was shortened due to their having a display on 7/3 as well. I feel sorry for those who paid for reservations at the docks . We took the family to Lake Lanier and stayed at Legacy Lodge for an evening. The stay was average. But when we checked our bill, which was already charged to our card, we saw they put another guests $300+ dinner on our room. We called on friday around 1pm and had to leave a message, apparently there is no one there over the weekend that can assist with these types on issues. read more

We had a good time here. When we got there the checked our temperatures before entering the park. They also check you bags upon entry for food or drinks. We did have to pay to enter the property as well as the "beach" area.There were a good amount of people there but we just kept our distance. The staff wore mask except at the bar. Their daiquiris are so delicious! We had to purchase another before we left! The water felt great. We think the beach are, plus they have food and music so it's a great vibe! 5 stars***** for a beautiful well kept property We stayed in the villa. Bathroom was gorgeous, bed was very comfortable. Rustic, charm. Was great to have a kurig machine! Room was clean food was sparse. Need additional food options for when staff is unavailable or short in the lodge. STAFF!!! Staff was kind, and polite Staff member Robert went above and beyond after we departed to make sure my AirPods (left in the room) were returned to us. WATERPARK!!! & beach are lovely. We were at Lanier island for my brothers wedding. So we were pretty busy with wedding events like the rehearsal dinner, brunch on Sunday. This is truly a gorgeous location for weddings! Lake lights duds! I wanted my family to have a wonderful Thanksgiving while visiting from Southern California so I decided to take then to lake Lanier for there lights show. 12 years ago my husband and I were treated to a ride through the light show and thought it was the most awesome show do I knew my family would love it. Well I was wrong the light non spectacular was a huge disappointment. I spent $20.00 to park, then $15.99 per person, and then a $30.00 booking fee. With 8 of us this was sure to be a hit, but no it was instead the most awful time I have have since going to the dentist. It was expensive and hurt the entire time. Let me say that this is now a WASTE OF YOUR MOMEY! So with $177.92 spent and we were on our way home in 1 hour. I wish I would have read reviews before I ever went back so I hope someone sees my review and does not waste their money. read more

The lights were eh. This was my 2nd visit. I remember having much more fun 3 to 4 years ago. Perhaps it was the newness of it all back then. It just seem that this time around, the lights were fewer and the carnival rides more sparse. The lights were nice, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't as wowing. Looking back at photos, I saw a good number of the same light setups. I guess you can't expect or compare it to Botanical Garden where the themes change periodically. I advise purchasing your tickets online; it will save you $10. At the gate, you're going to pay $45 versus $35 (per car - up to 10 individuals). Entrance to the carnival area is free, but you have to purchase the rides separately. Also bring marshmallows, choc, gram crackers, and something to roast your marshmallows on. You can most def purchase it there, but you're going to pay $2.50 (I think for a quantity of 1) or something like $17.50 for the kit. You're welcome. :) Last thoughts: Just go if this is your 1st time and am debating... I just think it's a solid 3 1/2 stars imo. You'll def reap enjoyment nonetheless. read more

We just completed the Family Fun Pack which I feel was extremely over priced. The room rate for weekend jumped to over $1000 a night. The cabin #6 was perfect for a family with teenagers. We didn't stay long enough to use the place to the fullest but it had a full kitchen, each BR had a bath and a shared common area. The AC worked, we had hot water and the beds were coMfortable. Pillows are flat. We did enjoy the included breakfast which was buffet. The service at sydney was friendly and very attentive. They have a cute cafe to order coffee and a cool Machine to create it. The pool Is salt water and they have plenty of umbrellas for coverage. No hot tube :( Love the bar to order snacks and drink pool Side. The frog restaurant was good but we had to eat there twice bc the other restaurant (way far out was short Staffed and no GF opts due to limited menu. The water park was so incredibly hot and half the rides were Closed due to end of summer staffing. :( Another disappointment. We got two days of tickets but Barely used the one day:( They said they are good till Sept but the kids have no interest in returning. Wish they would extend for the holidays. The saving grace of the trip was the GOLF CART! They had so much fun exploring the grounds, seeing the deer, and going through the golf Tunnels. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset, loved seeing the deer, and enjoyed the GOLF CART. I was pissed checking out because they made a super big deal (we will charge you) asking for a late checkout (Noon) and scared The kids to return the cart at a certain time Which ended up total CHILL about the cart return. Either way, we left At noon. Al the valets never mention to take the turn leaving wide and with the carts there I curbed my back tire. The accommodations were fine, however their customer service and billing practices leave much to be desired. We booked for two nights and had the confirmation email for two nights. After we checked out, the next day they charged our card (at a higher rate I might add) for a third night we did not stay and we did not book. We figured it was an accident on their end. When we called to inform them of their error, they quite rudely argued with us and refused to remove the charge for the third night, assuring us we were mistaken even though I still had the itemized invoice from when we checked out. After a very long time of back and forth and a follow-up phone call, they eventually refunded us for the erroneous third night charge, and they never apologized once. Absolutely horrible customer service to falsely charge hundreds of dollars and then not own up to your own error. read more

I would not recommend staying here. I tried to book online but never got a confirmation screen or reservation email so it appeared it never went through. However I was charged $346 for a no show. I contacted the hotel to discuss to which I was passed around several times. Then was told that they are not able to do anything at all since it was an "online booking". Again I explained I never got a confirmation and was told that was on me. I'm posting on the new Lakeside Lights Spectacular which used to be the Magical Nights of Lights at Lake Lanier. We have been coming here to the lights for the last 14 years and have always had a great time driving through the lights. Little changes here and there with the carnival rides etc... but always fun for the family. This year we were extremely disappointed. No more driving through the lights being able to enjoy them and sing Christmas Carols together. Now, after getting into Lake Lanier, you get to pay again to WALK through the lights. And that is generous considering the display they use to have. Rides are the same, but after the piss poor lights didn't feel like dropping even more money to ride anything. Had a appointment with Celita to look at 4 venue for a wedding. She introduced her self and said to follow her we can go in one car. I said, no worries we can follow you in our car. She insisted it was easier to go in one car. We were on our way to the first venue, when i tell you we all were using the s*it handles to hold on and still being swayed back and forth from all the turns she made..... She drove so fast thru there it didnt matter if it was a right or left turn. I was in the front seat at first i thought it was just me. When my family ( all adults ) got out they all said the same thing. It took 20 minutes, to tour 4 venues! We went to 4 venue, the driving got worse as we kept going. Lake Lanier is huge.... the speeding she did was crazy! Besides the fact that Lanier Island needs a makeover on all thier venues, is a understatement. No we did not book with them for obvious reasons. But i do want to note... When we finished this awful tour of the 4 venues, she said to us, " I have another meeting in 15 minutes,I will drop you off at your car. I'm covering for my co-worker she found out yesterday she has Covid" So this person she works found out she had Covid the day before our appointment, and she thought it was great idea to go in one car and tour the 4 venues. I came for the Christmas lights because we got free tickets. It took about 20 min to drive through it and none of it really stood out. This would probably be entertaining for a eight year old but it wasn't for me. It's $45 per car up to 10 people. It might be worth it if you have 10 people. I got tickets for free and I was still kind of bored. The carnival was limited in rides and all of it looked catered to kids. Would I come here again? Maybe if my wife and I have 8 kids then maybe it's worth it. Botanical gardens is closer to me and nicer. read more

I'd give negative if I could. DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE! Though this location has beautiful views the employees were absolutely awful. I must first say the catering crew for Lanier Islands resort did phenomenal. However the actual wedding event crew did AWFUL. They take your money & leave you to do everything. They do not provide any decor. They give you table cloths to use at the reception & chairs. That's it. They do not provide any lights so if it gets dark you will be on your own to see. The chairs they gave us for our ceremony was left out for weeks prior covered in dirt & rain. My wedding venue coordinator went MIA 3 weeks before my wedding & never contacted me again. When I contacted management to ask what we're doing for rehearsal they said they'd send someone and they'd come talk to me themselves. No one ever showed. We did rehearsal by ourselves they never showed up. The actual ceremony for the wedding they still never showed up. On top of all that they told my guests to call them to make reservations. They made reservations months in advance to come to town and have the resort tell them they have no reservation... oh wait but they did their money when they originally reserved. You will be spending about $30k give or take for a wedding here for absolute bull shit service. THE ONLY REASON my wedding worked out was because of my personal wedding planner I hired OUTSIDE of lake lanier. She did it all. And again the catering was the only good thing that came from this resort. You've been warned!! read more

The "Lights spectacular" was not a spectacular event. I'm glad we went only because I got to spend time with my girlfriend on Christmas but I don't think we will be back. Both of us grew up coming to the Nights of lights throughout our entire childhood, we knew it was a walk-through now but thought it would still be a fun experience. It really wasn't. Parking had went up in price to $20, for what? I already had to pay for tickets, why charge so much for parking. Then when we get near the water park we realized everything's been jammed into the water park area. We could see all the lights from the road. Didn't even need to get out of the car to see what little Lights was there. But we already bought tickets online. When we walked down to the entrance area I stopped by the restroom which was more disgusting than any gas station bathroom I've been in. I don't expect perfection at all! I know this is a tourist attraction and it's full of people but I expect basics to be done. It was still dusky light (not a big crowd yet) when we got there so it proved to me that no one had taken the trash out or bothered to even do a very basic cleanup in these bathrooms for at least two days. It was a very congested area and there wasn't much space to roam. We then had to wait in another line to get a bracelet even though we already bought the tickets. So we started to walk around, sure the lighted tunnels were pretty and made for great pictures but certainly wasn't worth even five dollars in my opinion. Some of the lights were out and weren't functioning. I know this can happen but it should had been fixed before Christmas night. There was no rain or poor weather for the week prior, so there was no reason for them to be out. There was no theming. Snowmen mixed with palm trees?? and big advertisements passing as lights for sponsors?? MargaritaVille doesn't mix well with Christmas. There was a bar, we don't drink but I saw online there was supposed to be a few stops for food/drinks or alcohol if you wanted that. Only one was operational. There were only 3 songs on loop.. we heard the same 3 play over and over just walking around the path. In one area I saw cheap pre lit trees, some of which were pushed over. Back to the entrance area where there was some carnival rides for an extra fee, a snow area for an extra fee and some food stands. There was a Christmas ornament shop which was pointless. No one cared it was there. There was not enough tables to accommodate people to eat. Only 1 of 3 fire pits lit for s'mores and no place to just enjoy the environment. I felt cheated and abused as a consumer. I'm a very easy going person and I feel for those who have to work customer service on Christmas so I didn't complain to anyone, it's not their fault. The resort should be ashamed of itself. I'm telling you I saw better lights in neighborhoods for free. Go to Helen or Stone Mountain instead or just enjoy free events in your town. I'll never be back and I suggest this event shuts down. Nothing but over priced mediocre attractions since the rebranding. I miss the original. read more

I came here for training for my job. While I did not stay overnight like most of my coworkers, I did come and utilized as much as I could of what was offered. There are four main islands that make up Lake Lanier (Pine, Blue Ridge, Legacy, & Georgia). We were at the Pinelsle Center for our training, which is located off Pine Island. It is actually a wedding venue. It is definitely pretty but after staying there a few days, I noticed some areas that needed more attention. We had breakfast, lunch, and snacks catered there. There was plenty of food and drinks all day at training. Shuttle is free. After dinner one night, we took the shuttle to Habor Landing for a boat ride for a sunset tour. It was beautiful! I really enjoyed myself. There are many walking trails but due to limited times, I wasn't able to complete one. I did arrive early one morning and did one mile. The view is nice cause of the lake view. However, when you go upwards in the forest more, there are lots of ants and bugs everywhere! I have been to water park before but many years ago and enjoyed myself back then. In addition, I've also gone zip lining at Blue Ridge Island for their Canopy Tours & Zipline. I never realized how big the area is. I think it's worth just coming to walk around and get a glimpse of the beautifulness. Oh yeah, many years ago also, I came for the Festival of Lights. The management at Lake Lanier Islands just made a dumb decision. We had 11 folks for lunch. They wanted to charge $10 per person for us JUST to eat lunch at Land Shark - we arrived by boat. They wanted $110 for us just to walk to the restaurant!!!! The kid at the gate said he would reduce it to $60. No. We asked him to call the manager. The manager said we had to at least pay the $60. Nope - see ya later. We are going somewhere else. They just lost easily a couple hundred dollars. So dumb! They have forever lost my business and made a bad name for themselves for our friends visiting from Michigan and South Carolina. It is obvious they do not care about local lake residents. read more
