The Langhorne Hotel has anchored the corner of Maple and Bellevue for a couple of centuries. The world around it may have changed, but this establishment has not, except for a few architectural modifications to accommodate the uses to which it was being put. This is both good and not so. Walking into the tavern area throws you into the Eighteenth Century, where the local Sons of Liberty gathered to plot the Revolution. Downside, the beer selection is from the same era. The dining area is also dated to about 1890. The menu is solid for a 1960's kitchen. Everything is well prepared and tasty, but if you want something in the way of vegetarian, vegan, or even contemporary cuisine, it will be hard to find. The burgers, traditional Italian, and usual suspects are present. As long as that is what you want, you will be satisfied. Today I tried the Italian Sausage with Peppers and Onions in red sauce over Linguini for a lunch special. At $7.99 the price was right. I enjoyed the meal, but there was nothing memorable about it. We turned lunch into a work meeting and remained for more than an hour after we finished eating. The room was practically deserted on a August Friday afternoon. We were not rushed, and the room was comfortable, if somewhat brown in tone. A new menu, broader beer options, fresh coat of paint and new carpets would go a long way to bring the Langhorne Hotel a new clientele. But, if they did that, the Sons of Liberty in the tavern might go elsewhere to plot our way to independence. Maybe we are wise to leave well enough alone.

Great staff and even better food! cute historic building with a bar in the front with a large dining area in the back. good beer selection, both in bottle and draft, and the service is always great! The bar has darts, golden tee, a skills machine and a jukebox. great place you watch spurts, especially football Sundays when they have cheese steak and burger specials! definitely worth the stop!

Comfortable local place with good food and portions. Very reasonable prices, especially for such a historic location.

That being…read moresaid, the last time I was there, their selection of draft and bottled beers, ciders and other drinks were great, varied for every palate, including my persnickety and fickle taste. One of their longtime staples, the Lindeman's Framboise (Raspberry in French) lambic beer, with its fruit forward profile and the low ABV of under 3% makes it a great sipping and people watching brew. The bartenders are always friendly and willing to chat, given they aren't swamped with other patrons. The take out is just as good as their dine in food, and their attention to detail FOR ANYONE WITH SENSITIVITIES (though I can't guarantee anything) or those like myself who have texture aversions to certain ingredients, they are more than willing to accommodate or substitute. I haven't personally looked into anything gluten-free, so that's something to call ahead for details on. Otherwise I have been coming here both with my family and on my own since... Way before they renovated, Maybe 2002, maybe before. It's been THAT long. The place is literally a "must try" landmark for any visitors to the area, with a minor caveat: sports games and Friday nights. Avoid those two times. It's a mob scene and the wait times become outrageous. Still hoping to get back there soon.

I ordered the Flat Iron Steak Sandwich, and WOW -- absolutely fantastic. The steak was grilled perfectly, tender with great flavor, and the combo of provolone, arugula, au poivre aioli, and the onion nest on a Liscio's long roll really hit all the right notes. Truly delicious. My girlfriend went with the Grilled & Chilled Chicken Caesar and a cup of Butternut Squash Soup. The salad was super fresh, the romaine crisp, and the croutons tasted like they were made in-house -- crunchy, seasoned, and a perfect match for their famous Caesar dressing. The soup had great flavor too, just a touch heavy on the spice (nutmeg maybe?), but still very enjoyable. Because it was a busy Saturday, we were seated upstairs. Our waitress, Kayla, was attentive, friendly, and did a great job keeping up even with the crowd. No complaints there -- she was excellent. My one real critique: the beer list. When we asked about it, Kayla pointed us to a blackboard in the corner of the upstairs dining area. From where we were sitting, it was hard to read -- and honestly a little awkward to get up and try to see. I ended up snapping a quick picture just to figure out what was available. It would be so much more convenient if they offered a printed list at the table or even a QR code you could scan. Because we couldn't easily see the options, I went with a cranberry sangria (which was tasty!) and my girlfriend ordered a cranberry vodka instead of exploring their beer selection. All in all, really good food, great service, and a fun spot before a show. Just fix the beer list situation and this would easily be a five-star visit. Would definitely return!

The room actually absorbs sound better than many other bars in the area. Bartenders and waiters are usually very attentive and friendly. My one beef with the place, which is not terribly important to me because I'm usually not there for a serious meal, is that beyond pizza, cheesesteaks, fries, and stuffed hot peppers, they don't do a great job with their food. Virtually everything I've had other than the aforementioned bar stuff has been mostly "meh" (did I get that right, kids? :) By the way, the Meat Lovers Pizza is outstanding (and I'm from Trenton NJ - IYKYK )

Hubs ordered sausage and pepper sandwich with fries. Fries were a bit over seasoned and wrap was good. My martini was very good...not a large glass but not expensive either so it works. There is an outside patio for dining and a beer take out store. We were curious to try this place and happy to try it once...however, it really isn't my kind of place. Still...it was memorable.
