Roast Pork Sandwich (half) with chips and pickles
    Norbert K.

Great to be back at Sandy's -- first time since before COVID-19. We had the FAMOUS ROAST BEEF (4/5 $9.95) and a HALF SANDWICH AND SOUP ($9.70) of ROAST PORK (4/5) and CORN CHOWDER (4/5). I tried the Sweet & Spicy sauce (on the side) for the pork sandwich. It was nice as a dip, but I don't think I'd like it poured on the sandwich. Oh ... BLOODY MARYs to drink (4/5 $8) were very good. Our server Brittany was great. Food . . . . .  4/5 Service . . .  5/5 Ambiance . 3/5 Drinks . . . . 4/5

I recently went to Sandy Beef and Ale for a late-night snack, and when I say late, I mean for this town. Since the pandemic ended, most restaurants have never returned to their old hours, and they close anywhere between 8 and 10 pm. I'm not too fond of it, but I adapted somewhat. Sandy's is famous for their vast Roast Beef and slow-cooked, fall-off-the-bone Pork sandwiches. Sandy's is a sports bar, so they have alcohol, and no matter where you sit, you can see a TV with a game on it and sometimes different games on different TVs. You can sit and eat at the bar or grab a table. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, making it a fun place to be as long as you're in the mood. It can get loud like all sports bars do. I ordered a soft pretzel with a fantastic cheese dip and loaded Tater Tots, which I never had here before, and my friend got Roast beef on a roll with Swiss cheese. Sandy's is one of the only places around that always has Slow Gin, so I ordered an Alabama Slammer to have with my snack, which was delicious and satisfying, and my friend had a Heineken beer. I've been here many times, and I've never left unsatisfied with my meal. They have a carving station behind the bar so that you can watch them make sandwiches. In the warmer months, you can dine outside under a tent, which is a nice touch. Their restrooms are clean. Sandy's is in a small strip mall right off business Rt 1, with ample parking. It's non-smoking, wheelchair accessible, cash or card accepted, and service is good and usually quick, but sometimes it gets packed, and you may have to wait, but it's well worth it. The prices are fair, and your meals usually include pickles and chips. Sandy's is kid-friendly, with a child-size menu just for them. I highly recommend giving this place a try, especially if there is a game you don't want to miss.

I'm giving this the full monty because it's everything a good, local dive should be: 1) Colorful locals (it's Bucks County down to the smallest details) 2) Friendly but not fake friendly service 3) Extra cold, affordable drinks 4) Great appetizers (The Gobbler fries are a favorite) 5) A varied (but not overwhelming) menu that does both the expected and the not so expected great. Sandy's is a local icon and with good reason.

Yessir this is exactly what I was hoping for while in the Philly suburbs. This place is busy, with standing high tops near the door, booths and tables to one side, and a big ovular bar to the other. The beer floweth, the tvs gloweth, and good times for all are waiting to be had. Accompanied by a local, I ordered the classic beef sandwich, the Old Bay fries (servied with queso omg omg), and a pitcher of Yuengling. My goodness, it was all perfect. Nothing fancy, nothing gourmet, just honest and delicious and you know, not healthy. haha I'm so glad places like Sandy's exist and are bustling, serving the local population and keeping it 110% real. Def recommend, would go back.

We came here for lunch under their open-air tent in the parking lot. The waitress was nice and efficient to start with, but her service waned as the meal went on. Maybe she was spread too thin with too many tables? She recommended the roast beef, as it's the most popular item. We both had roast beef sandwiches, but got them as lunch specials: 1/2 a sandwich and soup. Hubby asked if he could get the chili as his soup, and it was not a problem I just went with the soup of the day, pasta fagioli, an Italian pasta and bean soup. Overall, the meal was good. My hubby really liked the flavor of the roast beef. I felt it was a bit dry and would have liked for it to be cut thinner. She graciously brought me some really nice au jus when I asked. It helped, but I don't know if I'd return. If I did, I would try something else.

One of my favorite places to go when I'm in the area. Roast beef is great. My go to is the Cuban. Ice cold beer.

Are there choices of what type of role you can have?

I'm not 100% sure, but I can tell you in all the years I have had a sandwich there, I never had a complaint about the roll. The sandwiches are always so good!! There are so many different sandwiches and they are all very good. The type of roll they… Read more

The room actually absorbs sound better than many other bars in the area. Bartenders and waiters are usually very attentive and friendly. My one beef with the place, which is not terribly important to me because I'm usually not there for a serious meal, is that beyond pizza, cheesesteaks, fries, and stuffed hot peppers, they don't do a great job with their food. Virtually everything I've had other than the aforementioned bar stuff has been mostly "meh" (did I get that right, kids? :) By the way, the Meat Lovers Pizza is outstanding (and I'm from Trenton NJ - IYKYK )

People dressed more like a biker crowd than a "Newtown" crowd. Food is bar food...not a "foodie" place by any stretch. I ordered a chicken wrap with french fries. Hubs ordered sausage and pepper sandwich with fries. Fries were a bit over seasoned and wrap was good. My martini was very good...not a large glass but not expensive either so it works. There is an outside patio for dining and a beer take out store. We were curious to try this place and happy to try it once...however, it really isn't my kind of place. Still...it was memorable.

It was always a simple/sorta dive neighborhood bar with good wings, good people and simple beers on tap. I stopped in on a recent Friday afternoon with a group of 17-20 people to check out the new "Slim's". The bar area itself looked renovated and the rest of the seating areas looked like they just cleaned up and added some badly needed lighting. The girl at the bar had to be very new or just lazy. She really didn't know the menu, was vaping by the register, didn't seem interested in helping anyone but her regulars, had customers buying her drinks and gave me my tab with no details. I'm a pretty tolerant guy, but she was not an asset to the owner at all. She was a total liability and waste of space. She anchored herself behind the bar looking at her phone until someone acknowledged her. We ordered the homemade taco dip with tortillas - the dip was cold and looked to be store bought in a plastic container with some dip thrown on top. Mozzarella sticks were awful and again the sauce was cold. I ordered the lambchops myself which said they came with "slim fries". I asked the bartender what slim fries were and she didn't have a clue. They were just crinkle cut fries. I enjoyed the lamb chops, but they were very salty and spicy. Spice doesn't bother me, but it should be added as a note on the menu. They had "Slim's beer" on tap which the bartender claimed was the owners own beer. It had to be either a Coor's or a Miller product. It was not very good. Either their lines aren't cleaned weekly or biweekly like they should be or it's just a macro beer with their own name on it. Quite a few customers I chatted with said the wings are still good, so I'll have to try them sometime if I'm in the neighborhood. Sadly, we all left hungry after an hour or so to go to a different establishment (we were much happier at the second place). We paid all of our checks without an issue, but the service and the product were far under expectations. There is a lot more effort needed at Slim's for them to get my business again.
