I have been having a hard time adjusting the alignment on my car. Every time I have to replace the tires I would get anxiety as I have to keep going back and forth with alignment shops until they get it right. I was looking for a local shop to do an alignment and corner balancing on my turbo '92 Mazda Miata. I recently installed some suspension goodies that threw my alignment WAY out of spec. I found Lang Racing Development in an old thread on a BMW forum. I thought it was worth a shot. I gave them a call, and a person name Andrew picked up. He was very polite and was able to schedule me in that weekend. (8/6/16) I showed up to my appointment, and Matthew, who is their lead technician greeted me. He was very knowledgeable in Miatas and knew which alignment settings would work. Now the car feels fantastic and completely neutral. The rear end is no longer twitchy. So if you drive a Miata and are serious about your handling performance and live in South Orange County, I highly recommend going to Lang Racing Development. I have a 2005 Subaru STI. After a lot of research, I decided to go with an aftermarket coilover system for my car. Although I did most of the work in my garage, I was stumped by a strut bolt that I couldn't get off. That's where Andrew from Lang Racing Development LLC came in. I called the shop around 2:30pm on a saturday after searching yelp for a shop. LRD was going to close at 5pm that day, so it was a long shoot but I decided to give them a try. After calling them, the owner picked up and we talked about my dilemma. Andrew, the owner, said that his speciality were German and European cars, but to bring it in and he'll take a look at it. After putting the car back together, I drove to the shop. They are located right off the 5 freeway on Bake which isn't to far from me. Arriving at the shop, I was greeted by Andrew. We discuss the issue and he said he could probably take the strut bolt off for me. Mine you, after a good 3 hours of my blood, sweat, and time, I had stripped the nut on the bolt. This task seemed impossible but I trust his expertise. Before leaving the shop, I asked if he can install the last coilover, adjust the height of the springs, AND do an alignment of my car. The quote that he gave me on the short time that I gave him was AMAZING. By this time, it was 4pm and the he closed at 5pm. I left the LRD to go home and clean up my garage and walk my dog. Andrew provided exceptional customer services by keeping my inform on the progress of my car as well as my preference of toe, camber, and height of the alignment. He finished up around 8pm to which he called to say I could pick up my car. When I got to the shop, my car was parked outside as he was cleaning up the shop. This is a shop you have to see...a lot of amazing machinery as well as cool cars that he was working on. He handed me the keys for a test spin to see if I like the set up. After driving it around the block, I came back a very happy camper. For the owner to work on my car after hours and completing a daunting task with a stripped bolt, I couldn't be happier. I'm glad I found this shop and I will be directing people here. Andrew is also a very nice guy. We chatted for a half hour and he was patience enough to answer all of my questions and address any concerns I had. In fact, he suggested that after a couple of days driving the car around, if I wanted a tune on the suspension, to come back. Overall, the experience here was exceptional. Turn around time on service is quick and satisfactory. I will be coming back here around for any mechanical need as he does engine work and customary work. read more

I would rather take my chances with another shop and pay to fix all the things you could not do correctly than to bring my car back. In my honest opinion after I first hand watched you thrash another customers e46 m3 I would never leave my car with you again. I know exactly why the wheels scratched and its not because they are "aftermarket." These BBS RK 007's are specific fitment for the e30 m3. I have learned that if fresh pads are used to remove the rattle clip until the pads are worn down a little to make clearance. But then again you blatantly lied to my face when i asked if you test drove it. So i wasted taking time off work to pick up my car that you left in a condition that would only scratch the wheels when i drove off. You may know your way around an e46 m3 but that it. Even my 335d I had brought in for an inspection 1/2 you failed to service properly. Sold me a mass air flow sensor when mine was functioning just okay. After having a fresh MAF put in, the warning light came on again after 300 miles. I knew something was up so I personally took apart the airbox and found it full of leaves and dirt. Even the air filter looks like it was never changed. You relied entirely too much on the computer and if the computer didnt say change it you didnt. Unanimous 5 star reviews, must be all your friends. Like i said before this guy will not fix your car 100% so you'll have to come back and swindle you for more services. Beware **update** I spoke with my old mechanic from e30motorwerks robert. He has informed me that the oil pan did not have to be removed in order to install the steering rack. In order to reach those toe/camber bolts use a snap on 19mm open ended wrench with a 45 degree angle. Andrew definitely charged me for services i did not need. He does not know his way around an e30 m3. I will drive 2 hours in traffic and wait weeks just to get an alignment at from darrin at west end alignment after my experience with andrew. read more

I've got a few friends who have shops in the area, but I wanted to give these guys a try since I'm always down to support grassroots motorsports. My car needed an alignment badly since I just lowered it a ton and it was all out of spec. So I gave them a call and worked with Andrew over the phone. Once I arrived, they took care of me right away. After the alignment was done, Andrew came over to explain exactly what was done, and what the results were. Even gave me the print outs. My E46 M3 has 116k miles and was ready for the Inspection II, we took it to a couple of BMW shops for estimates and decided to let the team at Lang Racing do the job right. Was a pleasure to collaborate with Jonathan on the project that consisted of the S54 Rod Bearing rebuild w/engine mounts, VANOS rebuild and the typical fluid flushes that are required for the service needed at this point in time. Check out their website for the details on the VANOS rebuilds and other services offered, they really have the best processes in place focused on getting the best performance out of your car while keeping reliability in place, IMO better than any other shop or dealer can offer. Came in to get a 4 wheel alignment on my 2000 BMW 328Ci, Andrew was able to accommodate me on a Saturday so that worked out great for me because I work on the weekdays. I guess you can call me a DIY'er and usually never let a shop do something that I think I could do myself in my garage. This is mainly because I don't have trust in dealerships/shops to put in the same amount of attention to detail as I would. Needed an all-wheel alignment and complete suspension evaluation for my 2006 LS430. As usual, I did tons of research to identify the best alignment shop in Orange County. Time and time again, Lang Racing popped up as the shop to go to for such work so I called Andrew to setup an appointment. He told me he specialized in German and European cars but would be happy to take a look at my Lexus. Andrew and I initially had difficulty nailing a day and time where our schedules were not in conflict. He offered to meet me at his shop on a Sunday (!) so I met him at the agreed time. Couldn't believe he would compromise his personal schedule to accomodate me! Talk about going above and beyond the hoped for level of customer service! Andrew immediately began working on evaluating the suspension for my car and performing the all-wheel alignment. Along the way he provided me with updates about different things he discovered about the car and a few potential problem areas that I needed to keep an eye on. After Andrew completed the job, he provided a complete overview of the worked performed, the status of the suspension system as a whole and a printout of the work done and everything we talked about. I took the car for a spin around the block and was amazed at the level of improvement for the alignment and the overall handling of the vehicle. I returned to the shop to let Andrew know what a good job he did and how happy I was with the result. I got a very good deal for the work done (took advantage of the voucher via Yelp) and was extremely pleased with the work done. Andrew was professional, polite and extremely knowledgable. I wanted to extend a special thanks to Andrew and the guys at Lang Racing Development. I called them with a rush one-day TIG welding job that I needed completed on the eve of Thanksgiving. Even though he mentioned that the guys were trying to get out of the shop early everyone stayed late and worked together to get my Datsun 240z completed before the holiday break. It was very important that the car was finished same day so I am very grateful for the extra effort and sacrifice Andrew and the guys made. The job was done quickly but they did not cut corners to meet my time constraint. The welds look great and you can hardly tell my exhaust system has been modified to fit. Truth be told, I was going to use their Yelp coupon to get a discount but decided against it because I felt it wouldn't be right with all the extra effort and time they put in to get my job done. I needed to swap my exhaust out and heard about andrew through a forum member. He's a great guy and had great communication before,during,and after the job was done. He would explain to me exactly what he thinks should be done and my options before he does anything. I really appreciate that type or service because I hate being left in the dark with some shady half-assed work. we got under the car after he finished and showed me everything he did, even checked out a few things i asked. he's a very trustworthy mechanic, which from my experience is very rare nowadays. Also, judging by the crazy fabrication work he's done to the e30 race car in his shop, he clearly knows what he's doing. My 2012 X5 with 90K miles had an A/C that wasn't blowing cold air. I was referred to LRD by a friend. I live 50 miles away. I called them Monday morning. They said to just bring it in. I was there by 1058a. Francisco worked on the car. Jonathon handled the processing. Francisco within 5 mins alerted that my engine trim panel was broken (underneath the hood). I gave him the go ahead to fix it as well. By 1158a, I was already back in my car and heading for the 405N. 1 hour! My A/C worked beautifully. The cost for the AC re-charge was 1/3 what my guy in Torrance would have charged me (I called afterwards). I met Andrew as well. He not only was who had answered the phone when I had called but I witnessed him interviewing a potential mechanic (very bright guy was the candidate). When a shop has E46 M3's lined up, and a dog, and a lathe and mill, and is orderly and quiet-- well, that gives me the warm fuzzies. That contrasts with the feelings I developed after a few years of using a shop closer to home in LA area. I recently picked up my car from Lang following the (monumental) SMG to manual swap. I'm only aware of one other place in southern California that has done LOTS of this project, so finding the right shop for this is important. Jonathan, the guy who answered when I first called, was informed and responsive and got all of my questions (as a fussy prospective customer) answered quickly and to my satisfaction. When picking the car up, it was also nice to get to talk to the guy who'd just completed his part of the project (he proved very knowledgeable). I'd like to point out that the SMG swap is a very big project and there are a lot of ways it could be messed up (cruise control, etc). Lang has it down, and my conversion went off without a hitch.They estimated a week for completion and mine was done on time and without cost overruns. Everything works perfectly. A couple things I really appreciated: 1) No BS. I asked the owner a technical question that he didn't know the answer to, and instead of making something up, he said "I'm not sure, but hold on and I'll find out" and went and got an answer from the guy who knew the correct answer. 2) No "there are lots of things going on so we'll get to you when we can" attitude with my business. For those into the E46 M3 for the long haul, his place is definitely worth checking out. I live about a hundred miles north, and these guys will have my business from now on. read more

Andrew is without a doubt the most knowledgable BWM expert I have met. I took my E46 M3 to him to address some issues with my Vanos unit, as well as a pesky oil leak that multiple other shops had misdiagnosed and been unable to address. Throughout the process, he always kept me updated with extremely detailed invoice estimates with meticulous notes that you rarely see at other shops. Lang Racing Development Rocks! After installing my new 949 Racing AST coil overs, I was looking a shop to align and corner weight my Miata. After a quick Google search I found Lang Racing Development recommended in quite a few forums. Best yet, they were in Irvine, close to where I live and work. I dropped the owner Andrew Lang a few questions by email on alignment spec etc. , and he quickly and courteously responded back and offered a few suggestions after learning about what I was doing with my car (daily driver + auto crossing). I then scheduled an appointment with him on a Saturday. They were easy to find off of the 405 near the Irvine Spectrum. After I arrived, Andrew spent the next three hours aligning, corner weighting and aligning (again) my car. His personal standards were extremely high. Even when the Hunter machine went "green" indicating that my alignment was within an acceptable spec, Andrew would do it again to a closer tolerance, just because. So in conclusion, if you need your high performance car corner weighed and aligned, Lang Racing Development is your shop. Highly recommended! read more

I have an e46 that had a cracked subframe about 6 months ago brought it to a bunch of shops and had quotes all over the place. These guys were fairly priced and have a track record to show for their work. As soon as you walk in you know it's not just a normal maintenance shop. Race car's everywhere mixed in with some normal street cars. After doing the frame on my car it's still running strong with no clunks/ problems welds are all perfect and drives like new. Great shop. I have used yelp for years and have never once posted a review, however I had such a good experience here I would feel guilty if I didn't post something. Long story short I drive a 135i and had, had AST 4100 coilovers installed ~ 1 year ago. Since that time I have heard an annoying "knocking" noise everytime I drove the car. I have had taken my car to 4 different shops in the span of this last year to try to figure out what was causing this noise. Andrew and Calvin were the only 2 mechanics to ever take the time to thoroughly look into my car to fix this noise which it turns out was due to some complicated but important issues(engine mount,camber plate etc.) The best part was the price more then reasonable. read more

Great customer service and communication from Andrew. I have a built '87 930 Porsche that I needed to dyno and fine tune a new fuel management system. Even though he was booked solid, he managed to squeeze me in within a day or so (probably because I went there in person to plead my case rather than calling). Right after picking up the car, it started to run bad, but only when the turbo kicked in (something that never happened during dyno testing). Andrew tried all sorts of things to troubleshoot the problem but to no avail. Luckily for me he never gave up and eventually found that the fuel pump had become clogged with a lot of sediment that had accumulated from the car sitting for extended periods over the years. Along the way he found a few other things that he fixed as well. Thanks for not giving up Andrew. The car runs great! read more
