Before booking, we were very clear that we were relatively new divers and had never done a drift dive. We specifically expressed that we wanted to feel safe and properly supported. We were assured it would be fine, but once we were in the water, the support simply wasn't there. There was very little help with weights at the start. I quickly realized I was underweighted and had to go back and get more, which immediately separated me from the group. From there, things only got worse. I ended up alone on the reef during a drift -- something that should never happen -- and ultimately had to surface solo and wait for the boat by myself. To make matters worse, my surface marker/flag device wouldn't inflate properly, and I had to be picked up alone. At no point did I feel like anyone from the team was proactively ensuring I was safe or accounted for. Afterward, the only response I received was essentially, "Sorry you had a bad experience." That was the extent of the support. The diving itself may be beautiful, but the staff's lack of attentiveness and concern for client safety and experience was deeply disappointing. When newer divers communicate nervousness and inexperience with drift diving, that should be taken seriously -- not brushed aside. This wasn't about conditions or bad luck. It was about a lack of care and leadership. I would not recommend this operation to newer divers, and I left feeling unsettled rather than excited about the dive.

I recently had two terrific dives with Pura Vida. The first was a shallow reef drift dive. The crew…read morewas professional and friendly both on the boat and in the water. Communication was excellent during both the booking process and the trip itself. Everything was well organized and clearly taken care of. The dive itself was exceptional, with loggerhead turtles, goliath groupers, lemon sharks, and bull sharks all making appearances. The next day I booked a guided night dive at Blue Heron Bridge with Ethan. Once again, the communication was top-notch. Ethan was a fantastic guide, expertly taking us to several micro-environments and pointing out an incredible variety of critters--many of which I had never seen before, even though I had visited the bridge a couple of times previously.

One of my pledges this year is to complete more reviews of dive shops & sites. Used this E-Force…read moreScuba Center once before on a previous scuba trip to Riviera Beach, and used them several times on a recent dive trip to Florida last month. Scuba shops are my favorite candy stores and the Force-E store is one of the best brick and mortar dive shops that I've visited! E-Force is a full-service dive shop, doing repairs and other services in addition to selling gear. My dive buddy uses them to refill her scuba tanks. My dive computer ran out of juice during a dive there, so I went to E-Force to see if they had a new battery and get them to install the battery. They didn't charge me a repair fee to install the new battery, just the cost of the battery- how cool! Several other notable items- I converted from a vest style buoyancy control device (BCD) to a backplate & wing (BPW) setup 4 years ago during COVID. BPW isn't as common in dive shops. Most of them will have just a few accessories or packages. E-Force had a 12 foot wall display of different backplates, wings, accessories, and packages! Underwater photography is another niche market where you don't find much in brick and mortar dive shops. E-Force had a front and back rack with UW photo items. I had to pick up a few things. Lastly they also sell scuba tanks, both aluminum and steel, and accessories. I knew things were getting dangerous when I visited the store 3 times in a two day visit and spent over $300! Like I said, a diver's candy store! Definitely recommend and will repeat when my dive trips bring me back to Riviera Beach!

I was coming home to this area after being gone for six years. This was a personally important day for me and they helped me make it special. That's hard to find. Thank you again guys. I have dove on this boat many times. The diving is typically good, but the captain and owner…read more(Sandy) has a very short temper and when angry conducts herself in an unprofessional manner. On a dive in July 2022, I accidentally forgot to take my safety marker into the water, and my dive buddy (who also forgot his marker) and I surfaced about a half mile from the boat. We were spearfishing, and 3 sharks were circling, and another boat came by. We were not given instruction prior to this dive on what to do in a situation like this, so we climbed on the other boat and asked them to take us back to the charter. When Sandy realized what happened, she absolutely went ballistic, saying "get off that ****ing boat right now. Get your *** back over here" and several other things. When I got back on the dive boat, I apologized and basically just let her keep on yelling at us. I have also seen her on many occasions be very harsh and rude to Vicki, who also serves as a captain on the boat, and sometimes is also a Divemaster in the water with us. I guess I am a glutton for punishment, because on September 2, I went on her boat again (my wife, who had witnessed the first fiasco, thought I was crazy). On my second dive, I accidentally forgot my surface marker (again). I couldn't believe I made that mistake again, and I was very upset with myself. I shot a barracuda, intending to eat it, but it turned out it was over 36", so it would not be good to eat. It was still a legal fish (as a trophy), but I shot it with the intent of eating it. When I got back to the dock (Sandy was not on the boat that day), she cursed me out again for forgetting my safety sausage a second time and went on and on. It's not like I didn't feel bad enough already, and because I had my 4 foot speargun, the boat was able to find me with no accident. At the time, I just let rant go. After thinking about it a day or two, I e-mailed Ocean Quest and told her how I was very disappointed with how she behaved and how I didn't think it was ever OK to curse a customer out. I even told her that if she had simply said, "Matt, if you do this again, you can't dive on my boat", I would have been fine. It was after all my mistake, and a potentially very dangerous one that would put myself at risk. However, when she didn't even have the courtesy to respond after a couple of days, I decided it was time to write this review. It appears my review has been removed, so I will keep posting it until I receive a simple apology, as I want others to be aware. I have at least 4 dive buddies who likely will not use her again after this latest incident.
