Honestly, I don't know if the guy I got was new, having a bad day, or just really bad at his job... but 2 years later and I'm still P***ed off every time I look at the permanent reminders all over my arms that they will let someone that never mastered crayons hold a tattoo gun. Shop was clean and it looked like everyone else there was being served by skilled artists that had passion for their work... I just got the angry slow kid that wanted to ruin my life hundreds of dollars in coverup work at a time over years. read more

Ben Thompson is an absolute terrible person! I'm so glad I didn't end up getting a tattoo from him. When I go to an "artist" and give an idea of what I want, I expect them to use creative vision to make it come to life. He just sees a photo and tries to copy it. When I said I didn't like it, his response was "Well that's what you said you wanted". We then turned my walk-in to an appointment for a later date. He sent me the drawing and it still isn't what I wanted. I let him know that and explained that it was a good design, just not what I had in mind. I then received this text: "Why did you even make the appointment? Iam 100 percent sure you were just going to cancel anyways ! I drew the the exact way we discussed ! That drawing I did isn't even traditional ! That drawings Exactly what we discussed . The fact that you changed your mind completely on the style that's your deal not mine . I drew 3 designs = the deposit Iam sorry". I'm sure he needs my deposit to pay his bills since he can't get business with that attitude. I'd highly recommend staying away from this shop and finding someone who understands that a tattoo is permanent and it will take some time to get it perfect before putting it on a body. read more

I am in the beginning of having a cover up, of a cover up done by Jher, the man is an amazing artist. What a different "artist" did to me felt like a violation of artistry & trust. It was really, really bad. Jher has transformed the former and my new tattoo is off to a beautiful start. He listened to my needs and gave me a talented/professional session. It will take a few sessions to complete and then I will do a before & after review. Highly recommended! read more

I decided to get my first tattoo at almost 65. My daughter and I wanted to get the same tattoo and she was very happy working with James again. We were very specific about the details for our tattoos and James worked with us to be sure they were just right. They came out even better than expected and we are very happy with James' work. read more

This is a review of Ben Thompson. I brought my son to Ben for his 16th birthday from Wa State. It was a great first experience and made the whole trip terrific. We only came because of Ben and getting the tattoo. Fast forward 4 years..... we made an appointment with Ben as we were driving through Denver and thought getting our tattoos Ben did freshened up. We arrived early and filled out the paperwork. Ben comes out and looks and says he can darken some areas and define some spots. Our tattoos have never been touched up. We have an amazing artist at home who does all of ours. She has mentioned freshening them up so that they look newer and sharper. I mention this to Ben and the man gets immediately rude and angry. Insulting our artist at home and how he's been doing it longer..... she never insulted his work. She actually admired it. He started yelling from across the room and removing his mask so that we could make sure to see his anger. We ended up leaving. Very disappointed and no tattoo because we felt so uncomfortable and untrusting that Ben wouldn't purposely screw up the original work out of his over prideful anger. There are much better tattoo artists out there that stand behind their work and love when you come back because they get repeat business. We were going to tip heavily because this was the highlight of stopping in Denver. Take your skin, money and time elsewhere. The shop has plenty of great artists that are not so full of themselves that you can feel comfortable stopping in for a touch up read more

Would highly recommend Danny. He did matching tattoos for my fiancé and I. Not only did he draw up the design but it was even better than we imaged it to be. He was super friendly and had such a great attitude and he was able to joke around with us. We loved him so much that we plan on going back in the future for another tattoo with him. Thank you Danny!! read more

Best tattoo shop in town, hands down. Truly an all-star group of artists that left other shops to start their own shop in Capitol Hill. Jher and the boys will take good care of you, whether you're looking for sleeves or a fiery unicorn riding a tricycle. They've got ya covered. Oh yeah, cash-only, but they have an ATM in the back corner of the store. You won't be disappointed with this clean, professional shop. read more

This is not the finished version yet but I can't wait until the final product to post a review on my experience with Tyral Lane at Landmark Tattoo so I will start with this one and in true Yelper fashion follow it up with a second; once completed. Ty is one of the most stand-out and original Denver Colorado tattoo artists working right now. I gave Ty a page full of ideas I had spent months typing out and no fluent or decisive direction for my tattoo but a bunch of ideas that I wanted to incorporate and their meaning and several location ideas. I needed guidance and someone to put magic to my thoughts and symbolic reasoning and Ty blew my expectations out of the water. His drawing was more than I could have ever thought possible - he knew more than I did on what I wanted to express and that talent is a true gift. Ty has senior knowledge in all areas and genres of tattoos. However, if you like your tattoo art to be hyper-realistic black and grey, you have to visit Ty over at Landmark Tattoo over any other artist in the area and I don't say that in a superior fashion but one of genuine desire for you to experience something beyond your expectations and to feel the magic that a tattoo should bring for all of us. Ty has an uncanny ability to capture life on skin, and present the darker, beyond surface level basic tattoos, he embraces the side of realism in stark and admirable beauty. His work which I like to call magic for my tattoo is vast and deep and dark; a real treat for the eyes. There's a focus and a subtlety to it that demonstrates real mastery of the art of tattooing. What was probably one of the most memorable parts of the tattoo is his genuine concern and care for his clients. He will walk you through every step of your tattoo no matter what size or detail may be involved. I encourage you to trust the artist in the whole experience or you will be disappointed. Through the experience he kept me laughing, made sure I was comfortable (or as comfortable as humanly possible for a six hour session) and he made sure he thoroughly explained the aftercare instructions to me and following those up with a text of detailed list of those instructions invited me to reach out for any questions at all and assured me there will never be a stupid question and he is available for his clients. I can't get enough of his art, his craft, and his magic. There's so much talent on display here, it beggars BELIEF..... Ty's original artwork and tattoos are incredibly modern, individually customized and fit the curve and shape of your body to an immaculate standard, and seem real enough to be living and breathing. His abstract drawings, his portraits, his animals, his muted tones and dense lines and intricate shading - it's all perfection. Tyral Lane is, unquestionably, one of the best around. read more

I love Landmark! I had my first tattoo here done by Seth as a walk-in, still super happy with it years later. Most recently I got tattooed by Kaitlin Green. Kaitlin is amazing. I told her I wanted to get the Aphex Twin logo and sent a photo, she said no problem. I was super happy to just get the logo done, but then she sent me back this amazing drawing she had done where the outer ring wasn't a solid band but was actually represented by this beautiful organic dot work. It was so unique and special and it really fit with the look of the logo. I love it so much more because of how different it is than any other Aphex tattoo. It's also unique in terms of style and technique, a lot of the people I've shown it to have never seen dot work like Kaitlin's. One person said it was the coolest tattoo he'd ever seen!! I'm going to cherish it forever and I can't wait to go back. read more

Let's get down to it. A tattoo is the process of scarring your body with ink using various sizes of needles. Yes, it can be painful. Yes, the healing process is nasty. And, yes, the final result can either be beautiful or disastrous. Luckily for me, I went to Landmark and, so far, the result is beautiful. I walked in on a Wednesday and made an appointment for Thursday. The gal at the counter (I think her name is Shay) was incredibly sweet and walked me though what they would need from me. Here's a couple of tips for the shop: -The minimum is $60 -There's a $100 deposit -They are CASH ONLY They have an ATM in the back, but if you come prepared, you can save yourself $3 in ATM fees. My artist was Seth and he was fantastic. We talked for a bit about what I wanted. He offered his input and prodded me for a little more from me (I can be a rather "Oh, you know what looks good, just make it look pretty" type of person, which isn't a great thing when you're getting something permanent on your body) until we got what I was looking for. It's so easy to think, "Oh, tattoo shop, all those rebels working under one roof, it must be chaos." But I would say that you couldn't be further from the truth. Everyone who works here is a professional. They keep a very accurate appointment system and everyone is very reliable. That being said, chances of you hearing the f-bomb are about 100%. Which, for me, is just wonderful. The place is decorated very much like an old school tattoo parlor with a twist. There are animal heads all of the wall and a very chilling stuffed fox greets you at the front desk. There is artwork all over the walls and each station is unique to the artist's tastes. But, because of the big windows in front, it's still really bright in shop and it doesn't feel like some seedy back alley tattoo parlor. I would recommend this place to anyone. They have a great staff that seems really tight knit. The rates are reasonable and they have decades and decades of experiences among them. I'm so glad they're in my neighborhood. read more

Seth was AWESOME! He did an amazing job on my rib tattoo. (hummingbird) Not only was the art perfect (straight lines and great color shadowing), he spent quality time talking me through the details and gave some excellent advice on positioning. I also appreciated how he valued his work. He really took time in making it his own art and suggested some additional touches that added some splashed of his own style which really pulled the whole job together. I highly recommend him! Best tattoo experience I have had yet. The shop was really clean and organized. I had a Sunday appointment so it was really chill and relaxing! Definitely gonna come back to Seth for my next ink! THANKS DUDE!! read more

Walked in to get a tattoo while I was in town. Seth was great and accommodated my annoying schedule. Nice people, laid back, clean.

My friends and I went here yesterday for matching tattoos- Seth had a cancelation and was able to squeeze us in, and he was great! Everyone there was very nice and professional, and they made sure we got what we wanted. It was the first tattoo for my two friends, and it was an overall great experience. FYI- this place only takes cash, so bring cash or be forced to use their ATM that charges $3. read more

The shop is super clean and friendly. All of the artist are really amazing! The staff is so helpful. I have been tattooed by Jher, Seth, and Ben but I hoped to collect a piece from all of the artists. Sometimes there is a wait for appointments, but for something you will have FOREVER its worth the wait. Parking is hit or miss, so don't freak out if it takes awhile. The neighborhood is full colorful characters. Gotta love cap hill! read more

This is totally Denver's All-Star tattoo studio.

I had three tattoos done in three different places by Ty. Dude is an incredible artist with a great vision. We went in for a couple tattoo with different artist but the same tattoo design. Unfortunately Ben took it upon himself to make my husbands design completely different. When I spoke up about it after he took two hours to begin the appointment because he set up in his area drawing something up that we never even wanted. He became a bit frustrated, but quickly drawn up some thing within 10 minutes and started tattooing my husband. The end result was pretty much a black blob about 7 x 7" on his forearm. I walked out of there happy as can be with my artist Jodie doing an amazing job unfortunately as a couple, we're both disappointed in the lifelong decision that we move forward with Ben after seeing that he want to do his own work on someone else's body. I was suggest not want to ever come here. Ben was extremely rude in the whole environment inside was off deafly not an upbeat tattoo shop you'd want to get tatted in. During my tattoo experience Jodie was amazing. Nice and very hard-working. Amazing line work. At the end my husband told me all Ben talked about was how Jodie was not trusted and just talking bad about her maybe over jealousy that his work is terrible. read more
