I took the Landmark Forum over 10 years ago and it was truly impactful. However, after interacting with Landmark over the years I have come to the conclusion this is a highly damaging organization who preys - often with good intentions - on vulnerable people. It intentionally uses peer pressure and questionable tactics to make people spend more and more in Landmark courses; it is absolutely NOT trauma informed and can in some cases traumatize and re traumatize participants. The program will not refund you money if you have a bad experience (you might be able to get a credit to use for another course) and the staff will always push Landmark as the solution to ALL your problems. My last experience with a Landmark leader was so bad, I complained and got nowhere. It completely turned me off to this organization for life and rang a 5-fire alarm. I have studied and interacted with many self development modalities, and while there are some good things in Landmark's approach, they do not outweigh the risk of you feeling worse and ending up traumatized from taking a Landmark program. Avoid Landmark, and open up to other more gentle and trauma-informed coaching or healing modalities. There is a lot out there, whether you are looking for a group program or an individual experience. I am sorry to say that after all these years, I feel strongly that people need to be warned about and dissuaded from taking part in any activity organized and run by Landmark. read more

I was invited here as a guest.. I guess he was 'graduating' from one of the seminars. The breakdown: This is one of those self help, inspirational, type seminars. It is designed to help you better yourself. It helps you realize how much potential you have and gives you encouragement on how to do and be greater. Of course, it is expensive. Of course, you already know you can always do better. Of course, you already know you can always be better. Do you need to pay so much money to realize your potential? Maybe. That is debatable judging on how much you believe in you. I believe in you! My friend told me he paid $500 for three days. Next he is en route to San Diego for the advanced seminar. That one is $900. Now, upon doing further research on this organization, I learned that most folks say this is a cult. Hmmm. I read that the entire thing is a scam. Hmmmm. There is scandal every which way you turn. Hmmmm. I know the founder abandoned his wife and kids, changed his name, then decided he had what it took to change people's lives. I don't care about any of that but I love reading trash. Don't believe me? Check out my book collection. Now, if any of that cult stuff is true, I care not. If I were invited to a Satan worshiping workshop, I would have gone. Hell, it might have even been more entertaining than this. I keep an open mind with most things in this thing we call life. I have studied the Law Of Attraction and I am a believer. I am in no way, shape, or form saying that my life is gravy. It has been a while since I concentrated on those teachings and so I've been a bit distracted. This Landmark Forum is the same deal. It convinces you to believe in yourself. To concentrate on all things positive and to strive for the things you want. The more positive areas in your life. The seminar was great. I thought I would get sleepy and or daydream about getting naked but I did not. I forgot the speaker's name but he was great at communicating with the people even though I didn't feel as if his words were completely sincere. Many people shared personal stories and totally broke down. I cried too. Not because I had a breakthrough but because there was way too many emotions going on in that room for a crybaby like me. I am crying right now as I type this. It is way too easy to judge people from a distance. When the speaker asked this woman why she was there, her response was, "so my husband can trust me". Then she went on and on about her relationship. The speaker analyzed her life to death and got to the core of what the supposed problem was. He then asked her what she can do to make the situation better. After that, he had people in the audience give suggestions. It made her feel better so I won't knock it. I wanted to speak but I am shy and there were way too many folks waiting to stare at me up on stage. I should have done it. Maybe it would have helped break a few barriers I have without having to pay, ha. The other reason why I decided not to speak is because that man is intimidating. It wasn't even normal intimidation...I felt like the speaker was talking down to us a bit. I felt that there was no way he wouldn't make me feel stupid had I gone up on stage. Things are so obvious when you're sitting in an audience rather than up on stage being over analyzed. - I am glad I accepted the invitation. I can't say that my life will change after this but I will definitely keep my mind open to it. Especially if so-in-so was serious about paying my way.. challah. I have been attending courses at Landmark, including at the Orange County Center, for over 15 years. What I love about Landmark is that all of their courses (Landmark Forum, Advanced Course, Seminars and Self Expression and Leadership Program) offer tools that I continue to use to deal powerfully with what is happening in my life and then create what I'm taking on next. Out of my participation in these courses, I have caused breakthrough results with my career (several promotions), my family (married 22 years and currently raising three daughters), my friendships, managing my finances, and my hobbies and activities (karate, PTA, AYSO, piano, etc.). The staff at the Orange County Center are dedicated and gracious, and have been great with me every time I bring someone new to come find out about the Landmark Forum. Landmark issued a full refund of my course fee. This was greatly appreciated. For this reason, I give Landmark one star. In August 2019, I attended Landmark Forum in Santa Ana, CA. I sat through two and a half days of structured weirdness. They asked you to leave all your belongings on a table in back when you arrived. They had people in the back of the room watching and taking copious notes on what participants said and did. I know this firsthand because the leader told me she knew I'd told someone that she wasn't sincere in her 'uh-huhs and yeahs' when dealing with participants at the front of the room. I didn't say that, but why were they writing down what grown adults said and reporting it to the leader? Like I said...weird. After break, if you came back a minute late, you had to ask for a chair because yours had been removed. When people got fed up and left for good -- and they did -- the Landmark folks squeezed the chairs together so it wouldn't appear people had left the forum. The leader used shaming, gaslighting, projection, and deflection -- all narcissistic strategies -- in her interactions with participants. Approximately seven hours of the time I was there (and I'm being conservative here) were spent persuading us to "enroll" others into the Landmark possibility. The hard sell to get you to invite people to the Tuesday evening graduation event began the first hour of the forum and never let up. Part of your breakthrough was calling a list of people at every break to tell them about your Landmark breakthrough and enroll them in your possibility. The end game was that they would come Tuesday night and sign up to do the forum. There were some nuggets to be gleaned, and I was able to dig through the piles of dung to get to them. The nuggets, by the way, weren't unique to Landmark -- mindfulness, being in the present moment, reconciling with estranged loved ones. There are plenty of personal growth retreats where you don't have to listen to people being called assholes and jerks and told to magically span the gap between the facts of painful life events and their "stories" about those facts. By Sunday morning, which was spent training us how not to take no for an answer when we invited people to the Tuesday night event, I was pretty much sick of the whole Landmark schtick. The straw that broke the camel's back is when I witnessed a young woman being challenged to forgive the family member who had molested her as a young girl -- just minutes after having shared this information publicly for the very first time -- and then being issued a "further challenge" to call him. I left. One of the back room people ran after me to find out why I was leaving. Livid, I told him, "What I just witnessed is the height of arrogance and psychological irresponsibility." I said the same to the leader who called me at the next break to literally beg me to stay because I was going to miss the "punch line." I'm glad I didn't go back. I found out that the "punch line," after a belabored exercise, was "everything is meaningless." Meanwhile, I was home having a meaningful evening with my family. We will see how long this review stays up. From my personal experience, it appears Landmark trolls the internet and makes every effort to have all negative reviews removed. read more

I can't begin to say what an incredible difference this global organization has made in my life, my family's life, the lives of my friends, and how it continues to do so. I first participated in 1991 and have never been disappointed with the programs and seminars I have taken with them. It makes a difference with relationships, career, communication skills, leadership skills, finances, well-being, vitality, romance, sex, love, you-name-it! It has made such a great difference for me that I also volunteer my time with them, which helps keeps the costs of their programs low. I don't get paid, but I really feel like I get a lot more out of my volunteering than I put into it. The organization has a 4-part Curriculum-For-Living. The first part is the 3 day, 1 evening Landmark Forum. This is the flag-ship course, that produces a transformation in who you are as a human being. It alters your experience of life such that your past, present, and future are reversed. You see that your future (as it is) is made up of your past. These are a real bargain at no charge for the first series. After 3 months, if you want to do another 3-month series it costs $110.00. The third part is the Advanced Course. This is three days and one evening. It a crash course on the nature of reality, and how human beings have reality backwards. What we think is real is unreal, and what we thing is unreal is real. WOW!! What a ride!! I went to Landmark back in January, it's now basically May and all I can really say is WOW!! The people I have met and the lives that I have watched change over the last few months is just amazing. The staff, the leaders, and the volunteers have changed my life, and because of them I have had the opportunity to contribute to others and their lives. It's an amazing "Pay it Forward" system. I was asked to consider the LMK Forum by a friend of mine who lives in Las Vegas. I wanted nothing to do with it!! After signing up, canceling and then walking out its safe to say that I was very anti anything to do with this place. Then I received a phone call from a girl named J _ _ _ . Because of YELP's guide lines let's just say her name starts with a J and is spelled like and rhymes with "pill" This person called me and I told her politely "No Thank You" She called again, and again and again, the truth is she never gave up on me. Finally I signed up and went to the stupid course. What I took away from the course changed my life. It changed my wife's life, my kids life and it effected my parents, my friends and my employees. Since the forum I have learned so much about myself and others that will effect my life until the day I die. Update: Landmark gave me a refund and a free forum to compensate for the leader I had the first time and all the trouble I went through. The forum with the new leader - Katherine - was a phenomenal experience. The material taught is solid and I think the first leader I got wasn't a common experience. I am recommending Landmark to my friends and family with a little disclaimer (bc of my own experience): that the chances of getting a good leader are decent, im assuming between 80% - 90% after talking to people who have done it in the past. I wont lie at the start of all this I was questing what could be possible and how all these people share about their life being so different... regardless I did it. Never have I felt so changed... of course this isn't some pill that will change your life on the stop but it does open doors to new things and new ideas and what is really possible. As far as everyone sayings its a cult its actually on the opposite after finishing your course they want you to go out in the world and create something for others not to just stick around forever... a cult does. Some of these "bad reviews" are hilarious! You can actually hear the rackets these people have so quickly. Look guys landmark is not cheap but its also not expansive. People feel comfortable spending $700 on a smart phone but have a problem investing the same amount on themselves, to create the possibility of a life free of baggage. I will say this if you are stuck on the price tag than just don't do it! And I say this because you're just going to walk into the seminar with the though of, "OK show me what I paid $700 for," instead of actually being present!! Anyways, I just completed the forum yesterday 02/18/18 and I can not wait to do the advance course and the seminar (which is 10 evening sessions that are already included in the price!). One last thing. The reason these people are so quick and so passionate regarding you signing up is because they see the possibility of a better world. The program is good for a lot of people but I prefer other courses now that I've taken a few. It's important to get a great teacher. I did forum, advanced, and a few seminars. They do twist your arms to make you take your family and friends to their programs, most likely because they believe they will make you better humans. There used to be hard, hard sells. Some people have a hard time getting a refund if they change their mind before coming to class. I thought their policy was if the program wasn't a good fit, they would honor their words so that's what you need to clarify when signing up. read more

A total joke - A friend of mine brought me to one of the landmark events years ago and it felt like a cult. People were getting up and giving testimonials and praising how Landmark saved their lives. The Landmark Forum has completely changed my relationship with life and the people in my life. In January, my co-parent, who was previously my spouse, took the Landmark Forum. Before the Forum, we had a very so-so relationship and then a difficult divorce which costs us both a lot of money. A LOT OF MONEY! After the divorce was finalized, we were still not on any "normal" speaking terms. It was court ordered communication regarding our child and that was it. I felt like I was always waiting to be served some more papers to go back to court for whatever reason. During her Forum, she called me, as you are asked to call people in your life that matter to you. Since we have a child together, we will always matter to each other even if we wanted nothing to do with the other. There was something definitely different in the way she was speaking. I immediately jumped on the internet, because I'm a techy by profession. So many negative reviews with some positive ones. But mostly negative. After reading all of the reviews, I thought...wow, this crazy co-parent of mine must be really crazy for doing this and getting something out of it. She asked if I would attend the Tuesday night event and I did. This was the first time we were in the same room without our child. I was breaking the restraining order. I was worried a little bit. I briefly said hello and sat as far away as I could. During the Tuesday event, most of the participants were so happy. Disturbingly happy. Some of them spoke about their transformation at the front of the room. At the time, I thought I had everything in my life that I wanted at the moment. I had a great job as an executive of a software company, I had amazing friends, I had a wonderful son, and I was happy in life. Very little or no worries kept me up at night. I thought, why would anyone who already had everything going for them need the Landmark Forum? I decided to do the Landmark Forum because I have so many business ideas that I never take to a level other than thinking about them. I figured I would take the training and learn something to help me with that. I walked in to the first day of my Landmark Forum with reservations and I was very skeptical about this entire thing, and no expectations. First day, got a little bit of what was being discussed...second day, got a lot more...and the third day, blown away by what has opened up for me. I was transformed. Seriously! I became aware of the voices, self-doubt, reasons, anything that prevented me from taking action, which I had no idea was really hindering me. Your voices won't go away. Your reasons for not doing or doing something will still be there. But the power is in the awareness when you catch yourself being, doing or acting in a way that is preventing you from taking action and making the most of your life. With this awareness I have been able to do a lot since March. There are so many new things in my life, but here are some of the things I have been able to accomplish: - Amazing new career (previously I was an executive at a software company) - True partnership with my co-parent (movie nights with my son and her, taken our son Easter egg hunting, easy to switch parenting times, etc) - Taken two business ideas further in the process than I have ever done in the past - Helping another business owner make more money - Made my relationship with my parents even more meaningful than before - Restored confidence in myself (dating, career, life) - People have told me that I have a different level of aliveness about me. - Powerful conversations The way I describe this to friends and family...a personal trainer in fitness costs $50-65/session. 10 sessions (2 months) is more than you would pay for the Landmark Forum. This is a life coach that will help you realize that you have not lived your life at the fullest potential. After attending Landmark Forum this past weekend in Culver City - led by Leader Jeff Willmore - I can say that it was a truly outstanding weekend that inspires and engages one to have an extraordinary life....sounds corny, maybe. Yes anyone can go to a seminar, talk or workshop and find fault. Unfortunately that is our default as human beings and part of the blind spots that Landmark offers tools to uncover, accept, and learn why and how to truly be free. The weekend covers many areas, including fear, confidence, and the core of WHO has given meaning to all of your life experiences. I don't know that it is for everyone, I don't think it is THE TRUTH....whatever that is. I do see that those who resist the work, the process are likely the ones who need it most. It is not a cult...that is a mind made up story to discredit the value. I noticed one of the reviews was based on attending an introductory night then drawing vast conclusions and statements based on 3 hours.....I would liken that to attending a wedding and knowing what it is like to be married. I have spent decades reading, writing, journaling and attending numerous talks and seminars....some great, some worthy and mostly just the same thing over and over. The difference for me with Landmark Forum was the space it revealed in my past that kept me there and why....sounds simple, not really - I have tried to go there, process, understand and heal to move forward many times, but something kept me in a place where I was afraid of being succesful, having complete freedom and being authentic in ALL areas of my life. Now with new information from LF I am sorting out, my passions, my strongest suits and declaring new possibilities that I will create for myself and my life. I've taken many seminars at Landmark to learn how to access the things I want to accomplish. I have to say that the courses have taught me the most useful tools I've ever gotten in any kind of education. There are no books or note taking, and you learn in a very interactive way, by talking to the person sitting next to you, going up in front of the class and talking on the microphone (you don't have to, but you learn a lot more if you participate and share your thoughts with everyone in the room) I have used the ways of looking at life and dealing with people countless times to get through tough challenges and achieve goals that seem impossible, or just out of reach. It works if you use this "technology" and I've had a lot of breakthroughs in places of my life where I was just stuck. Career and relationships, and creative accomplishments were areas of my life that I worked on. Using what I learned at Landmark made almost everything achievable. The reason why I'm not giving Landmark 5 stars is because the chairs are really hard and uncomfortable. I mean, for a product that requires sitting for long hours in a chair-- get some decent chairs, people! My back and butt were always killing me after a few hours.They use the shittiest cheapest crappiest chairs I've ever sat on , and for that reason, I'm not so excited about taking more courses there. in a perfect world, with some decent comfortable chairs and the excellent life navigating tools they teach..you'd have a life changing / game changing experience. read more

Landmark Forum is wonderful. I have completed the entire curriculum for living and have had many of my family members and close friends also attend. It strengthened the bond of the family and provided the space in which healthy communication free from past stories and memories can exist. I have been able to create my future in a way I thought never possible. I know many people are skeptical of these 3-4 day seminars that focus on transformation, however if the individual continues to work on themselves and apply the tools that are given in the Forum, the transformation will never end. Its kind of like a person who is overweight and goes to get liposuction and loses a lot of weight....they feel good they look good but if they go back to their old lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits they will eventually fall back and gain the weight back. Transformation work is the same thing. I have completed the forum, advanced forum, seminars, and the self expression leadership. I started the journey in 2009 when I took the forum. I have a friend taking the course coming up in July and I can't wait to attend and watch the transformation and the miracles in the room take place. read more

CRAZY or CULT? I paid for a flight, booked a non refundable hotel for $1000, and rented a car.. And when I checked in, the woman looked at me and asked if I was okay. I knew I didn't look that great because I didn't get that much sleep but I never thought she would ask how much sleep I got. Yes, she did and then asked how much sleep I got the previous night. Based on my answer, she turned me away. I tried to convince her that I was fine, I had paid $500 (on top of my other expenses) I had left my kids at home and rescheduled my life to be there. She kept saying things like "I might go crazy" that "it's intense.. " I started to feel like there were hidden cameras because it was so bizarre. This cost me a few thousand dollars out of my pocket, and was very disappointing. If I hadn't of bought A great package at the Island hotel, I really would have been very angry and probably wouldn't have taken no for an answer. When I thought about my hotel, mentally I was fine, I realized I would be able to have a few days by myself and go shopping at fashion Island... I knew when I got home that I would be getting a refund and so I just let it be. read more

I was invited by a friend of mine to one their classes. They ask their current students to invite their friends to practice coaching, and it is exactly where they start brainwashing the guests and persuade them to register! They say don't think about it, just register! They try to persuade you that you have problems and you will find yourself making up problems that they may not really exist! I told them that I am a student and I can't pay 665$. They said that I can ask their registration office for an amount of discount. I sent an email asking if there is any possibility to get a small amount of discount, I would be happy if they said I can have only 50$. The first impression they had on me wasn't what I expected and I decided to get a refund. I got it at the end. I hope that this forum will be useful for others.
