SLC is full of good mom & pop places and this is one them. I had the tomato basil soup. It was nice and hot with great flavor. Then I had the lamb sliders with feta. Cheese covered the lamb patty with cucumber sauce; served with your choice of soup, salad, fries, or their homemade chips. I had the fries and they were pretty good. Husband had the Empire Stacker and was pleased. Eggs poached perfectly. Service was excellent and the prices are so reasonable. Will be back, of course. read more

Excellent experience! We kind of "stumbled" on this place and so grateful we did! I had their BTA eggs Benedict which was an eggs Benedict with and a jalapeño hollandaise sauce. I also had their homemade chips with "fry sauce" (which is mayo and ketchup mixed together aka "fancy sauce") Everything was awesome. Portions were huge and prices were below what I thought they should be due to the quality of food and amount. My daughters were very happy with their pancakes and bacon Pancakes were extra fluffy and the bacon extra crispy. Everyone was very friendly. Very clean. I had "The Cretan" - it was not bad, but I'd not order again because the lamb patties were obviously cooked far ahead of time, were cold and had toughened, the feta cheese nearly nonexistent, and the toast was cold and unbuttered. This place was so close to where I live but I never tried it til recently cos I thought it was a childcare service judging from the logo outside. Nice classic American breakfast options with a few Greek modification. The eggs benedict was nicely presented and tasted great as well! Can't believe I hadn't tried it since it's so close. I can't have American breakfast everyday but I think this is a comfort breakfast place if you're used to it. Nothing too fancy, just good breakfast in a family run restaurant. It was a delicious country fried steak on a pile of hash browns, Swiss and American cheese, smothered by two over-medium eggs and some country gravy; the perfect hearty breakfast to recharge your batteries after an adventurous Friday night. Landmark Grill is a great place to eat for breakfast or lunch. They have separated tables in order to social distance and they enforce a mask rule for any incoming customers. That makes me feel like it is a safe place to eat. The service is great. The servers are very friendly and very attentive to your needs. You will never have an empty coffee cup here. The food is consistently outstanding. I have yet to try something new that is not great tasting, and I try to get something different most times I go in. I will say though, the Roundhouse Breakfast is my favorite, but only if I am really hungry. That is a lot of food. There is also outdoor seating, if that is your thing. All-in-all, this is my favorite place for breakfast or lunch. read more

Oh My!!!! My college years were spent at the medical towers on Thursday mornings. My buddies and i would arrive around 7am and the order was simple, 3 roundhouses and 3 cups of coffee. When i heard that MariAnn (one of our original waitresses) and her husband brought back the roundhouse i couldn't wait. i was there this past weekend and i brought my son to experience this great breakfast. Came in for breakfast on a snowy morning. This place did not disappoint. It's an obvious neighborhood favorite - everyone else there seemed to be a regular and the waitresses greeted them by name and knew their orders. Love it, love it every time. This place is welcoming, friendly, and the food IS ALWAYS PERFECT. We are always greeted with a smile, and everything I've tried is excellent. They make dynamite burgers. They have thicker fries, and they are always crispy, and THEY HAVE FRY SAAAAUUUUCCCE. Dude, baklava pie. They have a thing and it's called baklava pie! The memories of the sugar buzz are enough to get me to run laps. So ludicrously sweet, but you have to try it because it's freaking baklava pie. Unfortunately/Fortunately they aren't open for dinner, so I can't eat there every day of my life. I want to go back so bad. Those burgers, those fries, I just can't. The Hubs seems to like this place a lot, he says the pancakes are really good. My ability to rate the food at certain restaurants is pretty limited because I don't do wheat (I know, I'm so annoying) their omelets are fine, nothing extraordinary, but perfectly acceptable. And the waitress was very nice, letting me be fussy about their "Athena Burger" to make it bunless and a few more customizations. When we first walked in Skid Row was playing, which of course puts it way up in my book. But that was mid week, at peak times they play more "mainstream-acceptable" music. Last time we were there it seemed to be a live maroon 5 album. I feel kind of bad giving them a three star rating because if you can eat bread and stuff it's probably a lot tastier here. My family and I used to go to the restaurant Nick's that was owned and ran by this establishments owners parents, it was across from Holy Cross Hospital, it was our only escape during some family trials, so right there it brought back so many memories when reading the back of their menu. Landmark grill is family owned. They have a variety of Breakfast and lunch items. They are closed for dinner. Plenty of seating inside and out and is clean. A very friendly crew making sure you are taken care of. We went on a Sunday and we had breakfast there. My wife had the cheesy omelet and I had the french toast combo. You get a good portion of food and it taste great. I enjoyed those thin sliced potatoes they serve. I highly recommend this for breakfast or lunch. I will be back for the Hamburger I saw. After a really bad ice cream episode the night before (pre packaged pint, old, overpriced, and dull), my taste buds were on a war path for revenge. Each little taste bud gathered, one by one as the moisture of anticipation started to form on my tongue. The craving for a delicious breakfast grew and a hungry unsatisfied tummy grew more angry. Like I normally do, I turned to Yelp to find something new. My quest for taste bud revenge led to Landmark Grill. Located where Pounders was off of Fort Union in the strip mall next La Frontera, its a cute little end unit with an inviting patio dining. You enter to big open room with rows of seating. Kind of reminded me like when your family would rent a tiny room/half of bball court for a family reunion and tables are just set up line by line so you can basically sit on someone's lap or at least be close enough to hear their conversation. Some may feel its "homey " and lovely. To each their own. We opted for the patio dining. Kudos to LM for having it, made for a nice brunch. The food selection reminds me a lot of a diner. Village Inn, Dees, or Dennys. Their website boasts home cooking with freshest ingredients and great prices. Well, here is my take. Like I said, patio dining is always great. Only drawback is it right next to La Fronteras drive up. Luckily, I went for brunch and it wasn't to busy but I can imagine hearing people order a combo platter hold the sour cream and the talking back and forth "what?"..."anything else?"..."aaaaannnnndddd ttthhhheeeeennnnn"? For brunch we ordered 2 plates. I have a confession, I have a crush on Dennys "Moons over my hammy". Cute right? Well Moons meet the LM Sandwhich. Basically the same thing just a different style. Eggs, Ham, Cheese on bread with hasbrowns. LM's eggs reminded me a lot of a continental breakfast on the west coast. You know the kind that are formed like play dough and you can pick up the whole slab with two fingers? yeah, like that. The "ham" took me back to the slices of ham in my 4th grade hot lunch. The kind that is also all jammed together and has the harder plastic like edge. Is it bad? Well, you decide. For me, it was just mediocre. The hashbrowns here are like potato chips. I literally asked that as my plate was served. "Are those Lays or Ruffles?" Really, they are thin slices of potatoes. Overall, they did have a good taste and I applaud LM for trying to be different. The other meal was just your traditonal - 2 eggs, bacon and an eglish muffin. Best part of that meal was the peanut butter on the side. Kid you not it tasted like the PB from Reeses PB Cup. FYI - Its JIF. Choosy moms choose JIF! Service was quick and attentive and the fellow had a cool accent. We paid 15 plus a tip for two and left feeling very full. Those two, minus the "average" food plus the patio equal and make this place a 3 star outing. read more

This is another Greek breakfast place, though it is difficult to parse that out from their goofy sign and very basic menu. That sign, an object of much commentary, with the color scheme and odd font, looks almost like a child designed it. In fact, I mistook this for a daycare the first time I saw it. They continue this odd arrangement of primary color blocks on the menu itself as well, inexplicably. Adding to that is the décor, which looks like they bought random images of various "landmarks" (get it?) from Big Lots or maybe World Market and tossed them up on the wall. The padded booth seats are also higher than normal and very stiff, which was unusual. None of this is influential to the rating, but bears mentioning. There are still several telltales of various items on the basic menu and the chalkboard wall behind the counter. One of them is the honey donuts, which were pretty well done and somewhat unique, basically fried dough balls served in a pool of honey on a plate, with pockets of powdered cinnamon. The rest of it had some issues, starting with Kroger tea bags for the black tea. My wife had the lamb sliders, which she enjoyed somewhat, but which came with a block of feta cheese and a glop of tzatziki sauce, which was about as unappetizing as possible. I got a Landmark sandwich, which was some shredded cheddar, a slab of pressed ham and what appeared to be powdered "scrambled" eggs stuck between some respectably grilled sourdough. It was quite bland and tasteless and I spent much of the time with it trying to improve it. The eggs had a very strange mouth feel that was kind of annoying. I would tolerate this, to an extent, on a road trip, when I'd want something fairly basic to just get and go, but here, it was pretty unwelcome. They also have Landmark potatoes, which is basically somewhat flimsy restaurant-made chips. If you've ever had a bag of cheap potato chips, what is left on the bottom, those tiny burnt crumbs, you've seen about half of what I had on my plate...also underseasoned. I surmised, given that the honey donuts were the only actual good part so far, that perhaps they did sweets better. I ordered the baklava pie and the strawberry shortcake. The baklava pie should be renamed "walnut pie" as it is literally a pile of walnuts between some phyllo dough acting as a crust. I love walnuts, but it would be difficult for me to imagine more of a mess than this. The cheesecake was partly frozen but was otherwise fine. Service was very good (and gives it the bump from the 2.5 that it realistically is at) and friendly throughout, with a lot of really good touches. Detail is meaningful with me, as usual. It's worth noting this is a "seat yourself" sort of joint, which is sort of obnoxious, but on the plus, you can probably nearly always get a table here...if you want one, I guess. None of the food overall was outright bad, but it would be hard to call it good, either. It was just mostly acceptable, I guess, some of it more than others. While the burgers did look somewhat interesting, there was nothing about this place to make it really stand out to the point where it would be worth a second drive, so I sort of doubt I'll be returning. read more

I am a sucker for Eggs Benedict and will try it anywhere they offer it on the menu. I have a refined my palate to detect when the benny is legit. This is just the case at Landmark Grill.
