History
Established in 1987.
Hailing from Detroit, Landis Powers moved To Minneapolis to train local and international students in the ranks of the Aveda Institute during its infancy. Inspired by such artists as Vidal Sassoon, Maurice Tidy, Horst, Bruno Pittini, Franco Curletto, Landis quickly mastered the skills of cutting in the round, and creating styles, that begged for a breakthrough in color design.
In his early days at the craft, he styled the likes of Paul and Linda McCartney, Suzanne Summers, and Shari Belafonte.
In 1987, Landis moved to Charleston, South Carolina and quickly established himself by partnering in the community with the likes of Greg Huff by opening the internationally recognized Salon Bijan. In 1996, he opened Landis Salon on Calhoun Street. Over the years, by using artist paint brushes, Landis has developed a sweeping artistic approach as one might use on a canvas, creating a process that brings a myriad of rich natural hair color, as one may only witness on the virgin hair of a child.
