Employees are incompetent and over promise and under deliver. They promised to hold a bike for me for one week (I even offered to pay a down payment which they assured me I didn't need to do) and then sold it out from under me. Good thing I called to make sure the bike was still there before driving 4 hits round trip to pick it up. Very frustrating situation. read more

I recently took my road bike to the Southern Landis store for a tune up. It was having shifting issues and would throw the chain on off when I shifted from big ring to the small ring. This has been on ongoing problem I have had for several years and have had a few other bike shops address it, but it never was resolved!! There was also a problem of the gears slipping in the middle of the back freewheel. When I picked my bike up, the mechanic Hudson, said that there were a few teeth on the big ring, that he tweaked, and while on the rack did not encounter the throw off. So I took it out for a 20 mile ride to test it and I did not encounter any slipping of the gears, but it did throw the chain off twice during the ride. I took it back and Hudson and his mechanic guru (did not get his name), but they put it back on the rack and adjusted a couple more of the teeth, and when I tested it in the parking lot, I shifted big to small 11 times and it did not throw the chain off once!! I then rode it another 16 miles with no further issues!!! BIG SHOUT OUT TO HUDSON AND HIS STAFF FOR FIXING A PROBLEM I HAD ENCOUNTERED FOR YEARS....THEY TOOK THE EXTRA TIME AND LISTENED TO ME....I REALLY APPRECIATED THAT. read more

Landis is known as the go to bike shop for good reason! I have been going here for years ranging from new bike purchase, repair and tune up and equipment. They were instrumental in the Trek I surprised my daughter with for Christmas which she absolutely loves. Most recently, Dave was so awesome and helpful when I brought my bike and my daughters for a tune up. He skillfully and quickly fixed the gear clicking sound my daughter complained about in 3 minutes. He did a thorough check up and was really nice and professional. Now, the most heartbreaking part of this review... my prized but super old Trek was pronounced DOA. I didn't realize the suspension had totally broke, whereas I knew the brakes weren't really working and it could no longer shift into many of the gears. Anyway, I'm glad I brought it in as I found it is actually unsafe to ride. Dave did a wonderful job understanding my biking needs and showing me the bikes which would suit me. He is patient and knowledgeable. He also customized the fittings on my new bike so it fits me perfectly. They have a fantastic selection of Trek, Specialized and much more! I especially enjoyed my most recent experiences at Landis and highly recommend going there for all your biking needs. read more

I've bought several bikes here and have gone for service at this location for years without issue. Today though, I had my first poor experience when I picked my bike up after getting it serviced. Landis charged me approximately twice what their tech quoted over the phone when I spoke to them on 08/02/23. Apparently, the tech I spoke with was quoting a portion of my service and not all of it. I rate them low for the miscommunication and their representative implying that I was given some immense favor by getting a tune-up charge removed when I explained the situation. The person who rang me up also educated me on how quotes 'work.' I don't go to Landis for favors or to be patronized. I want to pay what they communicated to me -no more, no less. I literally cannot say enough great things about this shop and the employees! They are super kind, friendly, knowledgeable! I purchased my first specialized gravel bike from them a few months back. I thought I had my positioning dialed in but, started developing some soreness in my arms. Eric got me dialed in and situated within about an hour. Super friendly guy to talk to, asked a lot of questions about my riding style and habits. Turns out, a lot of what was ailing me is my body positioning while riding. I've had almost all good experiences at Landis Scottsdale. It just depends who waits on me. This morning I showed up at 10 and was the first customer. All I needed was to make a quick repair on a tubeless wheel setup. Rather than making the 10 minute repair, a kinda grumpy mechanic took the wheel and said he would text me when it's done. Hours later I decided to just buy the parts and fix it myself. I called and relayed the message. Not long after I got a text that the wheel was ready. I went in and a very nice and helpful mechanic named Mike took great care of my situation. He answered questions and was not in a hurry.It saved me time and work mounting the tire etc. I will ask for Mike and Eric at Landis. They get it. read more

I purchased the Trek Verve 3 Lowstep at Landis in December, 2023. The reason for my purchase of a new bicycle was that I was looking for a bike that improves my posture while riding, and is easy to get on and off. Dave, the service manager, helped me select the bike, and made sure that it was the right size. He also took a personal interest in helping me select the best accessories. When I noticed that the bike didn't have the silicone cushion on the handle bars, he immediately installed them. I love this bike. It has improved my posture, and is easy to ride. Had a great experience at Landon's Cyclery. Had been to a couple other bike chops looking to purchase my first mountain bike. The other two places didn't really listen to me saying I was a beginner or what my budget was and tried to sell me a $3-4k bike when my budget was only $1k. But at Landis they took the time to listen to me, show me a couple bikes they recommended for a beginner rider. I am happy to say I am a new mountain bike owner and have enjoyed my new ride over the past month! I bought a mountain bike from Landis last year and returned to buy a bike for my son, solely because Eric had gone the extra mile for me in terms of getting my bike fine-tuned to give me the best results. We initially ordered 2 Trek Bikes from our local Trek store in Tucson, they said it would be 3-4 months for delivery.... Ugh and of course due to COVID!! I just happened to be on my iPad and got a notification that a bike store in Phoenix has many Trek bikes available in stock, I went to the website and sure enough they had both bikes in stock... needless to say Hank took great care of us even buying a bike rack, Hank installed the bike rack showing us how to put it on the hitch and loading the bikes up on it, Hank showed us other products like Helmets, lights for night riding and a bike lock.... I purchased my bike from Landis, had the first tune up done with them (took a few iterations), and this time I was hugely disappointed. Brought bike in with a rare skip on the back small cassette gear of a Trek Marlin 7 and, after a replaced "stretched" chain and a tune up the bike is now unrideable, skips in multiple gears even on the flat. This said, they suggested I might need to replace the cassette but I didn't think they'd return the bike worse off that it was when I brought it in. It was totally rideable on the flat, probably not ready for getting back into the moutnains. Discussed over phone, got no love from them after purchasing bike from them, staying with them, spending $140 on a replaced chain and tune up. No love. Very disappointed! read more

How wonderful to find a shop that truly cares about people. My husband recently retired and we hit the road with our new little RV and two bikes excited to ride trails across the US. Our first ride was in Scottsdale and we managed to strip our pedal as it was not installed tight enough from the factory. With these pedals being a special order item it looked as if our 2 months of riding was done in one day, but no, Landis was able to get my bike in and out with just a hilicoil repair! I've brought it in to the service center and spoken to the manager. They can't seem to fix it and don't seem to care. Talk about knowledgeable! I was blown away by how passionate these fellas were and their bikes! Eric helped me out as soon as I stepped foot into the shop. He got me properly sized with a bike all the while educating me on the importance of proper saddle height and posture when riding. He got a measuring tape out and made sure my seat was the appropriate height, just for me! He was patient and answered all of my questions. He even let me take a couple of bikes out for a spin in the parking lot. I found the one I loved and took it home with me the next day. I can't thank Eric enough! Super helpful, superb service! I found the perfect sturdy, pink bike for my 6yo. I liked the selection of bikes but had to order the specific color I wanted. The shop ordered and put together my bike in less time than I was expecting (5 days vs. 6 days). I understand the liability but I've been to bike shops in CA that have buyback programs for kids bikes as children grow out of them and wish that shops around here offered similar programs. read more

Yesterday I had Landis replace a flat tube and paid to have slime put in tube. Today the tube went flat, so they replaced the defective tube but said the slime was a separate purchase and I needed to purchase more slime! I need to pay more because of their defective part, not taking care of customers!! read more

Landis has been in the valley long befeore I was. Bought a whole bike of them once. Recently took ailing 29er rear wheel. It had a tannus thorn insert in it. went for a aggressive ride. Wheel balance was so bad at speed the bike threw me. Opened up the tire, and found some DIY engineering on the insert to fit a smaller circumference wheel. Finished the ride with the insert removed. I would have prefered them not do this now the $71 2.6-3.0 tannus insert is destroyed, and I have to buy a new one. The insert was heat pressed and folded into a heavier point mass. read more

Been going there for years spending thousands of dollars. Their customer service is horrible, They don't know you at all. They want to rush you of of their store once they take your money. The prices are high and you are treated like many big box stores treat you. My latest beef was I went in last week for a tube change and then another this week and was charged more. Oh we raised our prices they said only after I noticed on my bill. Like I said only in it for the money. Won't ever go there again. read more
