Satisfaction from auto shops and fair pricing  I have discovered don't' always exist.  After googling on the internet and reading favorable comments regarding Lance Auto Repair, I had my car towed there. Tony, the knowledgeable mechanic with whom I conversed with and who managed the repairs of my car was courteous before and after. He described the best and least expensive solution regarding my car repairs, the specifics being either I have my car's engine replaced or I could donate my car it to a charity. I decided on an engine replacement. The workmanship was timely and professional. I revisited the shop twice for minor adjustments during which I received immediate service, satisfaction and assurance.   Comparing auto shops to others visited with good, bad or indifference, my impression of Lance Auto Repair expertise to be excellent and their pricing to be fair. I have been going to Lance, Tony and Davis for about 30 years. I brought a number of friends and relatives to the shop for everything from Brakes to Motor Work. Lance and the guys are honest and trustworkthy. They stand behind their work and will always take the time to explain what the issues are with your car. Their prices are fair. No fancy waiting rooms or TV's, but the Gun Hill Diner, Dunkin Dougnuts and the Bronx Beer Garden are directly accross the street. read more

I'm on my way out of NYC when my car starts sputtering and losing power. It's 6pm on a Friday so most shops are closed. I pull up to this shop after getting a recommendation that there was a good Volvo mechanic nearby. I talked to Lance and another mechanic who told me where the Volvo guy was. But then Lance says his mechanic will take a look, that he's the "Swede from Jamaica" and can fix a Volvo. After testing a couple things -- including an electrical test which my joke of a mechanic in Brooklyn would never do -- he tells me to take it for a test drive. The sputtering is gone and I end up driving it all the way to Boston that night. This mechanic, I wish I knew his name, is sitting down drinking a beer when I get back from the test drive. He won't take any of my money, and probably didn't tell me what he did because it was some little thing I messed up during my home tuneup. Take your cars to this scrappy, honest shop with years of experience hidden away off Boston Road. You'll be glad you did. read more

After dealing with my clown of a dealer for 7 months and his team half assing my brakes then getting into an accident.... I took my car to another mechanic who then tried to have anal sex with me without lube or consent....suddenly Tony is right here beside me (sing to "Suddenly Seymour" Little Shop of Horrors.) $200 to fix my 2 front brakes and REPLACE a rotor. He went above and beyond the call of service. One of the lugs? had to be melted out he took my vehicle to another location and had it remedied. He was thorough but hold the phone best thing of all please sit down if you have lost faith in humanity, he is honest. He worked with us and worked just as hard as if I had a Benz. We just bought a home and we are moving next week to the Panhandle with our 5 children. I only mention this in relevance to the fact the money just isn't there right now. If you go anywhere else you are seriously asking for anal. But hey if you are into that kind of thing...... read more

This place is great! They are a black owned business which is a plus to me. My Automatic window decided to stop working on a raining evening. Of course it was 8pm and no shops were open so I had to resort to trying to pull the window up manually. After lots of tinkering I got the window up (very poorly and probably damaged something). The next morning I decided to try my luck at Lances. My mechanics name was Richard, he was kind, quick, and fixed my automatic window without a problem. It looks a little shabby and you will hear Jamaicans going on about the weather, but they are honest people and are affordable. Take your car here for anything... I was recommended to this place by the guys at the Boston Rd Valvoline who I also highly recommend. It's good business to be as open and transparent as possible with your customers and I believe these companies do that. The man who worked on my car showed and explained to me what he did to diagnose the situation. He then then told me what the problem was and the new and used prices of the part the car needed. He was very respectful and polite. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone in the Bronx who needs their car serviced. read more

Went to Lance's after seeing the positive reviews and after a previous mechanic told me my car needed a rack & pinion.Saw Tony who test drove my car and put it on the lift.Never told him about the previous shop.Tony told me I needed inner tie rod bushings.I got them from the dealer as he requested and he did the work.Car driving like it should.I also brought my Grand Cherokee there.Check engine light was on AND the car MOVED while my foot was ON THE BRAKE AT A RED LIGHT...SCARY!!!.Had it towed to the shop...CEL was " shift solenoid'".Tony took it to a trusted transmission person he deals with...changed a relay....and I've driving the last 150 miles no problem.Only cost me $50.He could've told me some elaborate transmission job or the tranny itself ( no need to tell you how much THAT would've been).Also had him check to see if anything was needed.He told me rear shocks and bushings...but the front and everything else was good.I thanked him for his honesty and will be bringing in my Cherokee this week to get that job done.These are honest ppl...Also you can go to the diner across the street while your car is being worked on read more

i went to this lance auto shop to have my alternator changed,,, now pay attention,,,i go to this place and tony tells me he can change it i say ok cool he tells me i"ll call you when its ready so im on my way home,,, before i get to my house i get a call from tony he says my car is ready i say to him my car is ready i just left you he says i know i work fast i tell my wife and she says something ain't right i go back to the shop i get my car i figure i might as well run some erands i get across town the car breaks down i call tony he tells me the car was running fine when i left so i tell him the car is saying theres a problem with the alternator you said you changed and put a brand new one in so why is this brand new alternator not working he gives me a number to call a tow truck the tow truck takes the car to that shop i get a call the next day to come get the car i get there and tony tells me there was a short in the alternator but he changed it now the car is ok i say to him you told me you orderd 300 new alternators and you telling me i got the bad one out of all of them huh theres nothing he can say,,, i was more than fair with him and he tried to rob me,,, and i gave him the money he asked for in cash cause he said they dont take credit cards and to think he tried to me wow,,,take my advice dont bring your car here go someware else read more
