Before I begin, I want to acknowledge I went to Lana Nails without doing my due diligence. I actually ended up at Lana fairly spontaneously. My friend stopped by my office and had an appointment to get a manicure before her travels and as I was also traveling soon, I decided to tag along. I had been wanting to try a gel manicure as I usually do my nails myself and wanted to see if this would last longer. It has been awhile since I have been to the salon so I'm not sure if this is the new norm but it felt like I was walking into a factory. There are two rows of people packed closely together in a line so the noise is cacophonous. My nails were not as long as they would have been had I planned to get a manicure, however I would have been satisfied with a slightly stubby looking solid application. Unfortunately, my polish was not applied smoothly so the final result looked like a child did it. Certainly not with the $35 I paid. I am very disappointed with my nails. This was not my first time at this nail Solon but it's definitely my last. I am very disappointed with my nails each time and they are so expensive. First of all it was painful when she took off the old nails and she ripped off my pinky nail. I had a picture reference of the nails I wanted and the lady barely replicated them. It's like she was more interested in conversation with her employees than doing a good job with my nails. THE NAILS ARE SO SLOPY?? I was charged $90 for it. Well, they know what they are doing here. They have the latest trends available with a host of colors. Pricing is prominently displayed. They also have an ATM in house.. It says free, idk. No complaints on my end. My manicure was quick and efficient with no drama. The salon stayed busy while I visited with more customers coming in. Three kids received nail polish for the $7 listed. Overall, a good visit. Turns out the ATM is recommended when you try to pay with a credit card. For my transaction, he waved $3 that I was not assessed by the machine. I'm from Philly and I'm used to getting my nails done a certain way. This place does it the way I LOVE. They are fast friendly and it's clean. They aren't cheap but hey you pay for good stuff. I can't complain plus they have an atm that is free. I've been there three times and my nails have been fabulous each time. I never have to to wait. Someone always sits me down. This is the "Gel Manicure" I received from Ruby, seat number 10. I have had my nails done at this establishment for the past year. Unfortunately, today was not a pleasant experience. Once I walked into the door I was politely greeted and I requested a "Gel Manicure". This is a my go to every single time, as I work at a hospital at bedside and am not able to work with a full set nails. That being said, as soon as I sit down I immediately sensed the nail tech, Ruby had an off putting attitude from the get go, she seem disheveled so I just continued like nothing will be a bother. Big mistake. I should have immediately requested her to not touch my nails and have someone else do the simple gel manicure on my natural nails. First I was told to wash my hands, (different but ok COVID). So no soaking of the fingernails happened. I thought ok mb she is short cutting her labour, again she looked disheveled so I understood, but again I am the paying customer. Next step, was the cutting and shaping of my natural nails. I am no expert in nail art, but I do know shapes & lengths. You be the judge based off the photo. I pointed out the length was too long on certain nails and obviously I knew I didn't want to argue the short nails bc I did not want tips or anything of additives besides gel polish. I had never received a dirty look from a nail technician; Ruby proceeds to SHRUG her shoulders and proceeds to say, "You said you wanted your natural nails.". Wow! In tht moment I was embarrassed and humiliated for wanting to express my requests. My personality is non confrontational so I just looked at her annoyed and bewildered. I am definitely taking this as a learning experience to speak up louder and stand my ground better. And better yet next time this type of situation ever arises in any establishment to refuse to pay. As I am paying ( I really shouldn't have) Ruby proceeds to say next time say you want "Gel Manicure". I looked at her and communicated, " I came in here requesting for a gel manicure". And left without tipping her and a loss of RESPECT. I most certainly called and spoke to a manager I suppose bc the "owner" was not there. Although I did want to talk to the owner about the experience. Very unprofessional. There was no listening going on. Way too expensive for the quality of work you receive. No way you should ever have to pay over $100 for a fill and design, no matter how detailed it is or even if they've got to use a whole pot of stones and glitter. Sadly, my cute glue on flowers fell off within 12 hours and I'm back at my home shop getting their messy work fixed. They are a nail mill, use the least expensive products they can get away with, and won't give you a price before they start work no matter how many times you ask. Conveniently, their credit card machine was "broken" so you're forced to use cash, or a cash app (cant do a charge back for sub standard quality if you pay cash). I wanted to wait to write an accurate review for this nail salon after I visited a few times. I recently moved to Delaware back in September 2017 and have been on the search for my go-to nail salon. The factors that went to each was: - Price - Environment - Performance of nail job - Offerings/Capabilities As far as price, they are pretty competitive, but a few dollars cheaper than other salons that I have visited in the Dover area. For reference, a gel manicure costs about $25. A spa pedicure costs about $35. The environment of the salon is well kept. It's vey well lit and plenty of tables and chairs. They also are always fully staffed. All of the tools and instruments that use on you are sanitary and are cleaned after each use. I have been very satisfied with my manicures/pedicures when getting services done here. I did have a teenage boy that did my nails and you could tell he was a bit nervous, but he did a great job! I was impressed. As with any salon, there is always one or two people that are outstanding. I would have to agree with the other reviews for this salon - Kim is AWESOME. She pays very close attention to detail and rarely has to clean up any polish that is brushed outside of your nail bed. This salon offers everything, even dip powder. Which, a lot of salons in this area have not gotten on board with yet. They also offer waxing if you need it. Also, there is an ATM inside of the salon in case you don't care money like me and some times forget to take money out. Extra bonus: there's no surcharge!!! Overall, this salon meets my manicure and pedicure needs and I will be a customer for a long time! Today I went to the nail salon to get this one nail fixed. Story time. Buckle up I get there and I'm happy as hell the salon was mostly empty. I'm in a great mood, I'm a beaming ray of fucking SUNSHINE and ZERO wait! Perfect right? I sit down with a girl who I haven't had do my nails yet. I'm happy, say hi to Leena, the lady next to her and the other ladies. First thing she gets mad at me because I'm unsure what color number the girl used last week. Ok, I turn around and nicely ask the other girl, "hey, would you happen to remember the color you used on my nails last week!?" She pops up smiling and grabs the red for us. Great! She gets going on my nail and right away I kinda notice she doesn't shape it really good. Hardly uses anything to properly shape and smooth it but it's just a repair so I brushed it off. She moves onto the color, then goes to put the glitter on and I stopped her and said "wait, I think you forgot they're matte" (one guys there did forget before and wasn't a big deal) the matte did need to go on first because the glitter is shiny. Got me? Ok. She didn't. She lost her damn mind over it. She told me I was being rude because I was mad at her because I broke my nail. at this point I'm looking at her like WHAT??? ‍ I said no ma'am I was simply asking you if you forgot to do that first because that's how it was done. Maaaaaan, this girl went on and on about how rude I was and how dare I question her at what she does. Let me say, I'd have shut up if I deserved it but I did not! I told her to tell me in English if she wants to sit there and talk trash in Korean! She kept berating me, kept blaming her attitude and piss poor behavior on my very simple and innocent question which I said on my normal, happy and bubbly tone. Keep in mind up to this point I was smiling and being friendly as I could be. Then she yells at me she doesn't know which gold she used. The other girl pops up and grabs the gold for her as she keeps basically scolding me. I did not sign up for that craziness. To top it off the nail came out so effed it's comical. I can't stop laughing at this funny nonsense this is a poor excuse for a nail but this wonky thing will get me through a week till a good nail tech can fix it. With the reviews I was skeptical to go, but they were nothing, but lovely. I came in as a walk in with me, my baby and partner and was immediately seen and they were so helpful with my child. They let us take an extra seat to place my baby's car seat in when we got pedicures and manicures. Tracey (if im correct) was the women who did my nails and im obsessed. Im so picky and I have nothing to critique. My toes look great (no one ever shapes them right and she fixed my ingrown toe nails without me asking like thank you ma'am). My nails are perfect. Ive gotten nothing, but compliments. They mention prices to you before they start which is nice as well so you are not blind sided when you go up to the register. Our stuff was pricey just based on the service we decided to get, but I don't believe their pricing is outrageous. Atmosphere was great, my child was showered in compliments so they already won me over when all the coworkers did that and you tell me I look good after just having her, thats the cherry on top for me. I would recommend Tracey to anyone based on my experience alone. I also had a women who was sitting next to me tell me she's been going to her for 10 years and has followed her to every workplace shes been to, she's top tier! Love this place! Honestly I've herd this place is amazing with their work, and they are super clean, I'm just upset that they don't have an appointment time but a walk in system. I had signed in and been there 20 minutes noticing I needed to wait and was then a lot of people came in and were waiting to. I noticed he was keeping paper in order of who came in so I let him know I'd just step outside and wait, well after telling me that was fine and I waited I Another 15 minutes I walk back in to see all the other ladies being worked on and I'm out here with another lady who had also been waiting. After I came in he asks me what I want as if I hadn't told him 3 times and then sits me down and I wait another 20 minutes.... I'm sorry but if you can't do someone or forgot let clients know and learn to communicate with your guest.
