I've been looking for a good salon since moving into the Smyrna area -- this wasn't it! At this level, I expected a much better experience. Appointment was for a cut - just long layers that needed to be cleaned up. Christine didn't seem to have any interest in what I had to say about lifestyle, time spent on hair, etc. and the appointment was rushed. For the "wash", she didn't even bother touching my scalp and basically did a soapy rinse of the ponytail section. -- Seriously?!?!? A wash should always start at the scalp! And at this level, I would expect at least a bit of scalp massage during the wash. It was certainly clear they just didn't want to be bothered. If you're busy and full, simply say you're not excepting new clients. Don't rush through the appointment and half-a$$ your job -- that does nothing more than effect your reputation in a less than desirable way. I love this place! I had never had my hair professionally dyed before and first went to get my hair cut here and loved Irma. She later fixed my over grown bleached out hair. And now shes the only person I'll let do my hair !! She's amazing and knows what shes doing!! She does the best highlights and adds dimension to my hair. Never go to Rene Delyn to get make up done. I had several problems with my makeup done Saturday. 1. She CAKED on the foundation like I was attending my own funeral. 2. She missed putting foundation around my lips entirely! 3. She put more eye shadow on one side making it look darker than the other side 4. She used the mascara brush that comes inside the mascara instead of using a "one time use" brush. So only God knows how many people used that same brush on their eyes. 5. The makeup started instantly smearing, so by 1.5 hours (before I had time to take it off) my checks were brown from the eye shadow. Moral of the story, I paid $50 (plus a tip) to have to wash my face... Never go there to get makeup done! read more

Great haircuts, even better color. I've used two stylists here, Emily and Gulya. I think Gulya is the better cutter, but Emily is a stellar colorist. She gets my ashy brunette just right and the foil highlights are subtle yet just right to liven my dark locks. I settled on this salon after going through about six of them in the area, all the way from Newark to Dover. The interior is a bit busy; a large brightly lit room with mirrors on elastic cords hanging all around--handy for you and the stylist to look at the final result but the entire effect of the room, which is oddly shaped, is visual confusion. I like a more spa-like, calm interior. The coloring back room is very utilitarian, with racks of Goldwell color on the wall. Perhaps this is a Goldwell (GERMAN) thing, to have the color racks, like a laboratory, all over the room. If you want color done right, ask for Emily. She's quite talented. If you have difficult-to-cut hair, try Gulya. read more

If rating this hair salon had no stars, I would of. To begin with, I called the hair salon to discuss pricing about having my roots touch-up (already being a blonde with dark black roots ) and was told one price. I asked the receptionist Lana if having the toner was included and also an hair treatment. I was told everything along with a wash and blow was included. My hair dresser was Kristen and at the end of having my hair washed from the color she had put in.... it was wrong! I specifically said I wanted my roots to be done and instead I received the opposite. My roots were black and the highlights were half way done. Kristen said to me she was not sure exactly what I wanted done... and said it had too much hair re-growth... which is just really irrelevant. The entire purpose of having my root touch up was to have my roots COLORED. So it shouldn't be dark.. but instead blonde. After explaining how unhappy I was, Kristen said the hair salon was closing at 8pm and she didn't have time to fix it for me unless I wanted to come back. I sat in the chair to get my blowout done and this was honestly the worse hair blowout I ever had. She flipped my hair left, center and right back and forth with a brush using the blow dryer and it was totally frizzy and not even straight!!!!!! I left looking like totally crazy and everyone in my hair said my hair looked better before. It gets better, paying at the register, Kristen added $30 for the blowout, $30 for the hair treatment (supposing olaplex was used on my hair) and $30 for using a toner. My total was $180. I asked few questions of why I wasn't told about these extra charges over the phone when I called or sat in the chair before having my hair treated.... Kristen said she was behind Lana when I spoke to her about making the appointment and she doesn't call the prices... Rene- the owner, does. The receptionist (not being Lana the one I originally spoke too... but a different woman) started to hit her forehead as if she was annoyed by my questions of the price i had to pay. I am unsatisfied with my hair, their communication and their services. I believe if a customer is unhappy, you try to correct it rather than insisting the hair salon closes and it was time for them to go home... IF THAT was the case and they didn't have enough time for my hair appointment... THEN DO NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT for a customer. Do not lie and say you can get the job done and then rush it due to your hour shift you work. Most of all, be upfront with the customer about pricing!!! Atleast if the receptionist cannot.... do so in the chair. Make your customer understand the pricing and outcome of the color or cut of their hair they're trying to accomplish. My sister recommended me here, but after seeing my hair color and the blowout done she will no longer be attending here again!! read more

IRMA is the best! At 70, I have had the luxury of meeting many stylist in DE. SHE is the one that has given me the best 'young' cut for 'elder.' High/low colors are perfect! I am looking good. Love her for her skills sets, and her soul of goodness and faith of righteousness. read more

The staff are all very friendly and nice. However, I went there for a haircut over the summer...not impressed. I don't remember my stylists name--and I will admit, my hair is very straight, very fine and *VERY* hard to cut and make it look decent, or even good. Was not impressed. I also had Brazilian waxing done here, as this is one of the few places in Dover where you can get that done (my question is, are all the women in Dover hairy???). The lady was nice, but ultimately ended up ripping me down there. Plus, the waxing is just as expensive as it is in DC. Not going back to this salon for anything. read more

Most awesome experience ever! Gulya was very kind and understanding. She gave me a beautiful cut. Everyone there was kind and I felt so comfortable. I made an appointment for the future and received 10% off my next cut, and an additional 20% off in-store goodies (jewelry, waxing, mani-pedi, etc.). Chris was great I only have 4 starts because I'm still trying to get over the shortness of my hair even though everyone loves it and it looks so much healthier. I'm going back this week to get some color done by Chris also. I really almost cried when I ran my fingers threw my hair for the first time thank God for the lady next to me that kept telling me it looks longer than I think. I am only giving Rene one star because they provided a refund for the dreadful work they did. Their website and the reviews had me believing that this was a quality salon. I must have gotten the one woman who did not understand how to process blonde hair. My request was for a touch up to the roots of an ombre style I had been wearing for a few months. After what I am guessing was an unsuccessful blend from root to mid-shaft, the woman applied toner to try to darken the ends (something I had specifically requested she not do). When my blonde hair grabbed the dark toner, she tried a purple toner to bring the blonde back up... She was not clear with me about what was happening, but the look on her face and the shakiness of her voice indicated that something was not right. I used my camera phone to snap a photo, and found that my hair was magenta! She left me in the sink, and went to the back (presumably to request help). From the sink, their voices were amplified, and I heard one woman laughing and mocking, Well, it could always be WORSE! Haha! The other girls walked by slowly and gawked silently with wide eyes. I was mortified, so I just prayed until she returned. I finally said in the calmest voice I could muster, I am guessing that something didn t work out the way you had expected? She laughed it off as part of the process" and went on to apply a third toner - a darker yellow/brown. Afterward, she took me to her chair and showed me the results... The hair she was blow-drying was blotchy brown, green, and magenta. I fought back tears as she tried to cajole me into thinking it looked appropriate, and that this was not a big deal. 1) I was exceedingly happy as a blonde (been blonde for more than a decade), and had no intention of changing this. 2) The woman had the nerve to tell me that all the other girls think it looks a LOT better than when you arrived. (Was that why they were all avoiding eye contact?) 3) My head was only processed from root to mid-shaft. The ends were toned (3x) and looked hideous, blotchy and dull. I was mortified to leave. I asked if there was anything she could do to bring my hair back to the color it was upon arrival. Unfortunately, this was not feasible. Eventually, another woman came to consult and suggested putting a warmer brown over everything - yes...a second process. Needless to say, I sat there with a heavy heart as they applied dark brown dye to my entire head, root to tip. The second blow dry yielded nothing better. You could still see a process line and the ends were still blotchy. It has taken two months and a few hundred dollars, elsewhere, to color-correct the nightmarish, unpleasant, and grisly errors. Oh, and here s a kicker: Apparently, the owner was at the salon while I was being processed. She/He never came to meet with me, or apologize, or assure me that they would do everything in their power to make the situation right. I had to pay that day (go figure!), because someone new was working the desk. They gave me the manager's phone number and told me to call the following day (I guess the owner doesn't have the power to make things right). When I called, they said they would refund me fully, but never offered a follow up consultation (not sure I would take it, but it would have been better business practice than leaving me high and dry). I received a check in the mail the next week. No letter. No apology. No nothing. What an experience... read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. After the eyebrow threading/eyelash/IDK what else she may do woman gave me CHEMICAL BURNS in BOTH my eyes, they gave me some serious attitude to take them out after I showed them a paper from my Ophthalmologist. I had to rush to the Doctor and they did a flush in my eyes where I had liters of a saline put in (very uncomfortable) they pumped my eyes with suction cup things. Super crappy. Keep in mind during my visit there I was crying and bumping into the walls in pain but they assured my mother and I that "it'll stop in an hour, give it an hour" I even showed them my medication which I paid for myself and they said no, it's an allergy because apparently these ladies are secretly Doctors. After this incident and still to this day I have DRY EYE. It makes them irritated and itchy and at least if I had received a simple apology, my money back for the POSSIBLE BLINDING (40) plus tip & my damn medication (a cream to put in my eye) & (dry eye drops) I wrote this salon an email expressing my disgust with the way they do their business and guess what? No response. Maybe they can pay attention now. Who knows. Smh. read more
