Ordered dinner .... Brought food out for my table but didn't bring mine! 3 tables around us received 8-10 plates of food. (They ordered 5 minutes after us) 20 minutes later after after asking 3x I told them to cancel the order ..... and then they bring my food 5 minutes later. I told them to cancel again as my party had already finished their meal! Still tried to charge me for the meal! Unbelievable!! On top of all that the waitress was rude and rushed away each time we asked to check on food. Not once did the waitress provide refills or ask if we needed anything. Not once did a manager or owner visit the table. If I could give less than 1 star I would!!!!! Don't eat here... spend your money elsewhere where they value your time and money!! You are the paying customer and they should be blessed to have people want to come and patronage their establishment. read more

The food is decent, but pricey. BUT the services are very bad. Our server was very frugal in giving us rice and a gratuity of 18% was included without notifying us. The receipt that you sign didn't have the typical phrase "additional tip". It showed nothing and it's also included a calculation of the percentage you need to add in and a line that asked for tips. We didn't know so we added on an additional 18% tip to be courteous. We called and management never offer to provide us back the money (extra 18% tip) and we offered feedback over the phone. For a nice looking restaurant to do this kind of unethical business of hidden tips is unacceptable. read more

The food was outstanding. I'm very critical of dining services, especially in the South. My only concern is when I tried to order out two times this week after discovering their existence. For a to go lunch order, I was warned of a 45 minute wait which is ridiculous for the lunch hour. I called today (Saturday) and was told to expect a 90 minute wait. The first thing I noticed upon entering was the heat from the hot wok directly to my left. I was thankful it was unseasonably cool that day otherwise I think it might have been too hot to eat inside. Next, I noticed that it was a lot smaller inside than I was expecting. I counted 26 seats. I was also reassured by the fact that it appeared as though we were the only non-Asians in the house. That's always a good sign if you are eating that particular cuisine. On to the food and drinks (or lack thereof). That's right, no beer. Would it kill them to have a cooler of Tsingtao? Oh well, the water was good. We ordered crab rangoon. Yum! Nicely fried shell around delicious cream cheesy crabby goodness. For the entrees we shared the eggplant with vegetables and the general tso's chicken. Both were unique and flavorful and we both had enough to take home for lunch the next day. I got takeout at Lam's Kitchen last week. I had never been there and reviews were good. I was so disappointed in the food. I ordered the spicy chicken and vegetables and it had no taste. Being used to the Chinese food scenes in philly and NYC, we're very happy to finally found an authentic Chinese food place in the Charlotte area. The HK style soft shell crab and cumin lamb are both very tasty. I like the spicy beef brisket clay pot the most. The brisket is so tender and flavorful. The whole lobster is so damn good. It's so much food and the price is excellent. Very nice people and to-go orders are ready fast.

I ordered the General tso chicken and my husband ordered the lo mein. The general tso was good. The lo mein was just okay. It lacked flavor. The portions are great! Overall the food and vibe of the place is nice. However, I can't give them 5 stars because the service was lacking. Upon seating outside (by request) we were unattended to for about 10 minutes until we got the waiters attention. Even then we were given no utensils or plates. I noticed other groups coming and also sitting outside. They were immediately attended to. Their drink orders were taken and they were given utensils. We had to get the waiters attention to get the check. Again, no one came to get the payment so we walked to the front desk to check out. When I notice that the waiters are not treating every guest equally, it's an issue. Next time, I'll probably order food to go to avoid the bad service. read more

Absolute disaster. The old restaurant was tiny but great. Our family went in over the weekend hoping for another great meal. Instead, we were frustrated by one dish with a big bowl of rice "for the table" finally coming out 45 minutes after we finished our appetizers. Nothing else came out and after about 30 minutes, we tried to leave and gave them our credit card to tab out. The manager...such a rude guy...said our food was coming right out. But it didn't. And they didn't give us our credit card back and totally ignored us. Finally....after another 20 minutes of holding us hostage, they served a couple more dishes, including a mostly raw fish dish. The kitchen looked to be putting out one dish at a time about 10 minutes apart for the whole restaurant. This place should close back down until they figure out how to get food out of the kitchen or else it will soon go the way of every other restaurant in that location. So sad. read more

Authentic Chinese food with great flavors. Will definitely try the entire menu. Small cozy space, not too many seats, but the food will liven your tastebuds. So why the dropped star. Value proposition is a bit lacking. They charge similar prices to Lee Cafe or Chuan Wang Fu, but you get half the portion size. If they work on giving you a bit more bang for your buck, I'd give them 5 stars. But with the limited seating, and smaller turn over ability, I can understand why they squeeze every dish, since they can only serve up so many each day. Also, hard pass on their "lobster" dishes. You don't even get a full lobster tail for the price they charge you. Give it a try, definitely a different offering than your other two Szechuan "Charlotte" offerings. read more

Talk about your hole in the wall. Right down from the Asia market it this delicious place. I've never had such authentic Chinese cuisine I will never eat anywhere else unless I actually go to China. Now it is small and located next to the Harris teeter but I would also recommend calling ahead and picking up since they do take a bit to make the food right. We had the sticky rice lobster which was great, the Szechuan dumplings, egg rolls and don't even get me started on the general tsos chicken. The chicken was cooked perfect very tender and moist. Wow. Everyone has been raving about the food, but honestly, I just wasn't impressed. The items we ordered were not spicy in nature and they had large amounts of chopped chili's all throughout, ruining the dish for us. I also thought it was a bit over priced for what we received and when we went to pick up our order the staff was not very friendly. Ever since you all moved to the new location ... you changed. Sucks I really use to love Lams Kitchen. My husband and I would patronize this restaurant on a weekly basis. But ever since they switched locations the food, quality, customer service has plummeted. This is our 3rd time visiting this location and unfortunately, this time wasn't such a great experience. I had a reservation for 7:30... it is now 8:30 and I still have yet to receive my food. My waitress has walked pass our table at least 10 X and has not given us any update on the status of our food, refill on water , nothing... ‍ I had to request more water from the bar because, no one was paying our table any attention at all. These prices are way too expensive to have an experience like this. Eventually my husband and I got up and notified the hostess we were leaving due to, waiting over an hour and still not receiving our meal. Going downhill. Ordered Beef Chow Fun(干炒牛河), Curry Chicken and Fried Dough (油条). Chef failed at Beef Chow Fun for sure - chow fun is broken into pieces, flavor is somewhat off, beef is over tenderized with baking soda. They used to be good, the one we had today tasted like cooked by an apprentice. Dim Sum is over priced, fried dough is $2 with only 6 small pieces (about half of a standard-size fried dough).
