My husband and I appreciated the outside seating. I am gluten free and the mixed vegetables and tofu in white sauce was good on a hot day. I also got the purple mojito---refreshing. My husband enjoyed one of the many clay pot dishes. What a fun, tasty dinner spot! read more

My favorite Chinese spot in Charlotte. It's always busy and the owner/ waitresses know my families order and always takes good care of us! My go to order changes with my moods, usually the curry chicken, Singapore noodles, chicken fried rice, tofu curry soup, pan fried noodles with white gravy and they had seasonal water spinach with garlic... amazing. Everything I've had is piping hot, fresh, and flavorful. read more

This restaurant is a bit further from us than I'd like but we thought of it as the best Chinese in town. At the old location, the owner had a hellish fire going in his kitchen; the food they served to a handful of customers (there were only a few tables) was flawless, and we frequented it often. At this new location pretty much the opposite is happening. It's a good size restaurant with lots of tables and at times it's packed, with a long waiting list. We chose to go for an early dinner ( after 5 pm) to avoid the wait. It was already busy and getting busier but not yet packed. The waitresses were great at keeping up with the crowd but I can't say the same about the kitchen, which was apparently struggling and sending dishes out in any which order. Some people had to wait half an hour between the appetizer and the main dish. It took us 20 minutes for the appetizer to arrive together with the main plate and another half an hour for the second plate to arrive -and I had to remind them that it was missing. AWKWARD. Unlike in previous visits, the Scheszuan dumplings starter was poorly made, shaped like meatballs. The "five-spice duck" was good tasting, moist and a generous size BUT the opposite of crispy and a bit fatty. It's served a la carte without any side. It was like too much of a good thing due to the other dish being MIA. When the stir-fried squid with pickled mustard greens finally arrived it was pretty tasty but we both agreed that a little chili heat in it would've made it better. Also, the greens weren't sufficiently cut up for a setting that doesn't provide knives. Honestly, all of the dishes felt as if the preparation had been hurried. Success is great but sometimes hard to deal with. IMHO it's still a good restaurant but no longer worthy of a special trip. read more

Delicious! Best Asian food in Charlotte! Had the lo mein and it was on point! Wish there was one in the north end of charlotte!

Best Chinese restaurant in the area! I remember coming here when they first started in their tiny hole-in-the-wall location and I'm so glad to see how popular they've become and how much they've grown. That speaks for itself. Their food is amazing! read more

We had a fantastic dinner. Would love to go there to eat again and again and again. Chicken Fried Rice, Singapore Rice Noodles and Chicken noodles won our hearts. read more

Revisited on March 2023, the menu is different, taste is different, ingredient is different. Prices is about the same. The food is no longer authentic Chinese cuisine. Lam's Kitchen was a high-end restaurant, it was my favorite restaurant since the food was so good. Now the quality is like a typical Chinese take out, with price like a luxury restaurant. I will not go there any more. read more

If you're looking for authentic Chinese food, this is the place to be! It's a very small place, but their food is great! Their menu includes several traditional dishes. I've been here twice now and have enjoyed my experience on both occasions. Most recently, I came here for Chinese New Year. The Hot and Sour Soup ($3) had tons of mushrooms, which I love. The Salted Fish, Diced Chicken with Tofu Claypot ($15) was absolutely delicious. A few pieces of fish were a little salty, and a few pieces of chicken were a little dry, but overall it was still really tasty. It comes with a bowl of rice. The Curry Beef Brisket Claypot ($18) was spicy (mild-medium), so we were very thankful that it came with a bowl of rice as well. The chunky pieces of piece were tender and full of flavor. The Shredded Duck Stir Fried with Rice Noodles ($16) was okay. I wasn't terribly impressed by the duck, but the rest was good. The noodles are cooked with duck, green onions, egg, carrots, and bean sprouts. I'm not a big fan of the prices, but the portion sizes are plenty enough to share. Despite being a small venue, the workers never rushed us. I do wish that we had a bigger table for all the food we ordered! read more

My family loves coming here for the holidays and special occasions! The food is tasty and authentic!

Food is fricken amazing and the restaurant looks great it feels like a Chinese restaurant and THEY SERVE DIM SUM IN THE MORNING IM SO THANKFUL but the service isn't the best but that's just how Asian restaurants with amazing food are in my opinion and I think they come off as rude to some people but it's all in good means and also the food is amazing. read more

The food is very good. I have had Chinese food from all the world but I must say that this is some of the very best. I was adventurous so I tried the fried soft shell crab, Hong Kong style and it was pretty good. It was a little salty and spicy but it was still pretty good. However, my favorite dish was the seafood chow fun (N8)! It was very tasty filled with shrimp, scallops, flat noodles and lots of veggies! The service was good but it was lunch time so it was really busy. The ambiance was busing with energy and lots of people enjoying their food. I look forward to dining there again! read more

I will say the best Chinese food I had here in Charlotte but they manage to kill that with their awful attitude not from the wait staff but the manager and hostess's even that I like the food not going back until they learn how to treat costumers read more

Very disappointed. Ordered yesterday pork fried rice, what a none authentic , none identifiable food. Checked the ratings before I ordered pork fried rice, all are very high numbers for best food. Ingredients are in the rice I have never seen anywhere. So Mr . Lam I would suggest find a good cook from china. Very sad and for this you charged me a price which was not listed in your online menu, $ 9 on web $ 12.99its not the price , it is what's in it. Red Onion,Egg, few scallions,Pork very fin chopped and no seasoning.Pork Fried Rice read more

Don't let any negative reviews deter you. If you are looking for traditional "true" Chinese this is the best in Charlotte. Be adventurous and try something that may seem weird to you, it is all absolutely delicious. You we see many Chinese individuals eating here, that's never a bad sign. read more

Great service and good food. Many menu choices with some authentic Asian options. Small wine list. We asked that they do not put any additional MAG in our food but Something they use to season food left my mouth dry. read more

The food was good, the pork buns had maybe a teaspoon of pork and very dry. Disappointed In that. I had the beef and broccoli, probably done the best here. My daughter had the tofu and Vegetables and she was happy also read more

We've to the new location been here a few times. Be prepared for slow inattentive service and inconsistent food. We had to chase down a server if we needed anything. We waited almost 1.5 hours for our bland food, luke warm food. Half the table was drinking out of styrofoam cups. We had a table of 9 and spent over $350 for lunch. Considering the price point, all of this seems unacceptable. Sent an email to the restaurant for attempt to salvage the experience and never heard back. read more

First time here, won't be my last. I ordered some dishes that my parents used to prepare for dinner and wow. I like them all. Did not have chance to take photos read more

I drove to this location to go to YUME Bistro for some ramen but was surprised it's now Lam's. We gave it a try and were not disappointed. This place served very authentic Chinese dishes. I had fried shrimp balls for appetizer and stir fried squid. Both were delicious. My daughter had roasted duck noodle soup that she said was the best roasted duck she had in a long time. The menu was in English and Chinese so definitely a good sign. read more

The food is good. Waiting time is LONG. The owner is very rude and disrespectful to Asian people even though he IS an Asian. Won't come again. I would recommend The Taste of SHU. Best food, authentic Chinese flavor, nice and warm atmosphere. read more

Wow, Chinese cuisine is a Christmas and New Years tradition in our family. Lam's has been such huge disappointment . From orders either missing items or not being told that a menu item was not available repeatedly to what culminates this Christmas. First things first you do not have the option for preorder. Calling them early afternoon about 1PM. I was told they are no longer accepting pick up or delivery until 4:30. Calling back at 4:30 was told that no more orders would be taken... um if you are so understaffed for a holiday perhaps you should have been closed? I can imagine the lure of money but if you can't properly service your customer base----close for the holiday. Also, there was no notification or communication whatsoever that this was happening. The food is good when they get the order right, but, if the dishes are over priced and the service is shoddy. Too bad McDonalds does not serve their food, at least they would get the order right and within a reasonable time. For what it is worth, those who love it please continue to go. For myself, family and friends its not worth the hassle. We'll become customers at a place where we are appreciated as customers. read more

Just incredible food...seriously, go. I'm told it's as close as you can get to authentic Chinese food. I don't know anything about that, but I can say it's incredible. read more

We love Lam's! Their food is great, authentic! Their servers are always very nice. It's very comfortable and nice looking inside.

So happy to have been able to get take out during these days. The food quality has not suffered in the same way as other restaurants have due to a supply chain. Lam's has the best hot oil for their menu items. The Szechuan dumplings are delicious and definitely not premade or from frozen. Really enjoyed the MaPo tofu as it also had the hot oil. I ordered on my way and it was ready when I arrived with social distancing at the front area counter. read more

An amazing dining experience, wonderful food, friendly staff, outside dining. Malasian curry chicken and shrimp noodle soup was probably the best noodle soup I have ever had - so good! Highly recommended this place! read more

Not sure what is happening at Lam's, but we had dinner there this evening and it was terrible. Completely awful. Lam's was my favorite restaurant until today. Their sanitation rating is very low-no surprise because we watched one of the young serves reach into a plastic container of leche to get a leche for a martini. I had hair in my food and the food overall was disgusting. For a Friday night the place was empty. Hopeful they can get it together! read more

This is our favorite destination for Chinese food in Charlotte. Our friends who used to live in Beijing gave their approval for this restaurant. The restaurant can accommodate 20-30 inside and 4 tables outside . If you go there during rush hours, you might have to wait about 30 minutes. Our favorite dishes are: steamed lobster with sticky rice, salted fish/chicken/ claypot, dry chili chicken, soft shell crab hk style, and braised pork belly with preserved vegetables. read more

Tried Lam's kitchen for the first time at the recommendation of some friends. We didn't really know what to expect and we're immediately impressed by the atmosphere and how great it smelled. The appearance of the restaurant is very cozy and nice. The staff were very helpful and kind. Then the food came out. Everything was delicious came out so fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone. They have so much available on the menu and were so eager to help you figure out what you wanted. Thank you!!! read more

This tiny place is easy to miss altogether or to confuse with a cheap strip mall takeout joint and you would be so very wrong! You want to make sure you are seated at one of the few tables. The pan fried dumplings were delicious but rapidly eclipsed by the rest of the dinner. The mixed seafood and tofu clay pot was phenomenal. The shrimp, scallops, and squid were all cooked beautifully, the veg and mushrooms were tender but not overcooked, and the tofu had a texture similar to a fluffy omelet - this was by no means just thrown in a pot and cooked. The crispy duck was easily the star, though. The skin was nice and crispy, the fat well rendered, and the meat (which can often get stringy and tough) was juicy and tender. I rarely take leftovers home but took every bit of leftover seafood and duck with me - and there was plenty! read more

This was by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to across the board. Being that it was a Saturday I gave some leeway but the straw that broke the camel's back was to see people who came in after me get their entrees before me. The service was horrible and the food being trash was the cherry on top. Also majority of the appetizers were unavailable per our waiter. I waited 2 hours at the bar to not even eat my food at the restaurant. The bartender Mario was the only light that came out of this situation and his drinks were good. The manager didn't even make the situation better. I don't even think this review can truly express my frustration and unhappiness I have with this restaurant. read more

Wow! I was very surprised that Charlotte had such a place for Chinese food and I'm talking about very authentic Chinese food! This place is very comparable to good restaurants in SF, I loved it! We ordered 6 dishes and each entree was great! We ordered tofu clay pot, stir fry green bean sprouts, steamed fish, ginger scallion lobster, five spice duck, scallion lamb. They were all tasty! I've dined in hundreds of Asian restaurants and I would rate this as one of the top 20 Asian restaurants I've been to in the U.S. The staff and service was great! Very friendly people. The restaurant is a bit small but surprisingly not too long of wait, maybe we were lucky to go at the right time. I will be back when I'm in Charlotte. read more

The food is decent, but pricey. BUT the services are very bad. Our server was very frugal in giving us rice and a gratuity of 18% was included without notifying us. The receipt that you sign didn't have the typical phrase "additional tip". It showed nothing and it's also included a calculation of the percentage you need to add in and a line that asked for tips. We didn't know so we added on an additional 18% tip to be courteous. We called and management never offer to provide us back the money (extra 18% tip) and we offered feedback over the phone. For a nice looking restaurant to do this kind of unethical business of hidden tips is unacceptable. read more

Ordered dinner .... Brought food out for my table but didn't bring mine! 3 tables around us received 8-10 plates of food. (They ordered 5 minutes after us) 20 minutes later after after asking 3x I told them to cancel the order ..... and then they bring my food 5 minutes later. I told them to cancel again as my party had already finished their meal! Still tried to charge me for the meal! Unbelievable!! On top of all that the waitress was rude and rushed away each time we asked to check on food. Not once did the waitress provide refills or ask if we needed anything. Not once did a manager or owner visit the table. If I could give less than 1 star I would!!!!! Don't eat here... spend your money elsewhere where they value your time and money!! You are the paying customer and they should be blessed to have people want to come and patronage their establishment. read more

Excellent meal. We went for Dim Sum and were not disappointed. Good selection. Good service.

Nice atmosphere, slow service. Ordered prawns with Chinese green, waiter did not mention that they would be in slimy meat sauce when I asked what kind of vegetables. Would have been nice to know. Didn't take one bite, was not asked if I would rather order something else. read more
