I was craving dim sum and wanted to try somewhere new, and Lam's came highly recommended by several people. We showed up right at 11:30am on a Sunday when they opened, and were seated right away. Our waitress was on point--super attentive and kept everything flowing smoothly. As for the food? We ordered a lot--and honestly, it felt like a nostalgic feast. So many of the dishes brought back childhood memories of weekends in Chicago's Chinatown. Everything was comforting, flavorful, and just how I remember it. This isn't a fancy spot--just a relaxed, no-frills place that serves really good dim sum with friendly service. It's a bit of a drive for me, but it was 100% worth it. Definitely a birthday treat well spent.

Came with family for lunch. They expanded so there was no wait for a table. Place was still pretty packed but felt like we had enough space from other tables, it was a little dark in there so some of us used phone flashlight to read the menu since the print was also small. Service was fast. We ordered a variety of items off the dim sum list to share family style - fried rice, beef short ribs, a chicken stir fry dish, beef chow fun, soup dumplings, and roast pork rice rolls. Everything was seasoned well and tasted fresh/authentic. I would eat here again if or when in the area.

Great spot to get some Chinese dishes and dim sum. I really like the lobster sticky rice and curry beef brisket clay pot. Highly recommend the shrimp balls, and scallion pancakes for appetizer.

My experience At LAM is Always Amazing! They have my vote as the best Asian food in town, the service is always organized and very prompt. The level of flavors are unmatched. I wish I lived closer.

We had a Feast of the Gods last Saturday! I've been looking for a good Chinese restaurant for a long time and I have finally found Lee's Kitchen! I went with my family and we were in a mood for good food and we got great food instead. The service was good and there was no empty tables for the whole time we were there. They have live seafood for you to choose and the kids were having fun watching the tanks. I loved that they were family style and all plates were well served. We all could not stop eating and we ordered a lot. The restaurant is nicely decorated and it also has private rooms that you can reserve for big parties. We are coming back because they have a long menu and we need to try more of their delicious dishes. Oh! They also have Dim Sum!!! Keep in mind they close in the afternoon after their lunch hours.

This might be my favorite find of 2025 so far! Tucked away in a shopping center in Matthews, NC, you'll find Lam's Kitchen, a charming traditional Chinese restaurant. The decor is warm and casual, and what immediately stands out is the large lobster tanks! That's right lobster is on the menu here. In fact the menu is quite large. From Chinese barbecue, to delicious meals from Malaysia cooked in clay pots, they have a large variety of flavors and dishes depending what you are in the mood for. On my first visit, I elected to start with some pan fried dumplings, and for my meal I went with the kung pow chicken. The service was a little slow but they were very busy so it was nothing out of the ordinary. The portions were huge! The chicken was savory and spiced to perfection, and while I was quickly filling up, the food was so delicious I couldn't put the fork down. I will for sure be back here to explore the menu some more, and I will be singing their praises to all my friends. This is easily one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to in Charlotte.

One of the few authentic Chinese restaurants in the surrounding CLT. I have been going here since they've opened and they never disappoint. Food is good and delicious. First time ordering the duck lo mein from here and it was surprisingly good! Service is fast. Ambiance is relaxing. Note: they do not have twice cooked pork Recommend the soft shell crabs!

Which day has the dim sum cart?

No cart, but dim sum is served on weekends.

How can I get a reservation? They never answer the phone and won't take online reservations?

Keep calling. My last few times there they've been short of help. But I've always been able to make a reservation.

Well the food use to be good, but the last couple of times the preparations have lost the plot. The…read morelast time I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, they served cashews instead of peanuts. That's a problem if the cook can't identify peanuts and cashews. This time I ordered the Twice Cooked Pork and received thick planks of overcooked pork. Traditionally this dish is made with a spicy red bean paste. Maybe the cook was confused and was attempting to season and cook it like Pernil because this one was made with red food colouring and cayenne. The flavours and cooking taste like someone has poorly cooked Latino food all their life or are attempting to destroy what was once a good Chinese takeaway. Will need to find a takeout now where people respect the cuisine they are cooking. 糟糕的食物 (zāogāo de shíwù)

Their quality has changed. I used to love their steamed…read moredumplings & very legit dipping sauce (I can cook the stuff on my own but sooo much work). This last time I got it the sauce was ok but the dumplings were just not the same. Bummer. Of course prices have gone up, so paying more for a lesser taste experience is not a win in my book. I also ordered my fave moo shoo chicken- which came with the 'pancakes' but no duk sauce. This is a big oversight for this dish. And also no rice. Service was quick & friendly -ambiance, well, I ran in & out. I also missed the days when this place gave you a free 3-liter when you spent a certain amount...new management, perhaps? I'd still give them another try tho- we go back a ways....
