As an Interior Designer Lamps Plus has consistently given excellent service to me and my clients through the years. What sets them apart is their in store service. Their products are in the mid price point but if you want something more higher end/ artisan / designer and find it online from another vendor, they will order it for you at the same or better price and have it shipped directly to your home. Ordering lighting online can be tricky if you haven't seen it in person and having to return a light fixture by shipping it is a hassle. We have been looking for a specific chandelier, La Romantica from the Kathy Ireland collection, but was fearful that it might be too large for above the dining room table in the house we are restoring. When I went in several weeks ago, Matt Vasquez in Ventura was extremely helpful, courteous and professional. He worked so hard to find exactly what I wanted. I love the customer service I always get at this store. They're helpful when I'm there in person and on the phone. I recently had a misshap with a sconce shade and shattered it into a thousand pieces. I am an electrical contractor here in Ventura county I have had a few dealings with this lamps plus and every one of them have had issues. The first experience was missed quoting me part that I got approval from a client on and then when I went to purchase it, the price almost doubled. 2nd problem customer that had purchased multiple light fixtures from them and two of the drivers for the LED lights were bad, I called Trevor Trevor said he would look into it and get back to me.. A week and a half goes by I had to call again to find out. Trevor was too busy to talk on the phone, but told the other gentleman to let me know that he cannot find them. Seems weird especially since they're the ones that purchased the lights in the first place so I will go to my local supplier and find them myself Could've called me and let me know that he could not find them instead of wasting my time. I had called prior to coming as I live quite a distance away , asking if they also sold lamp shades. A lovely man assured me they did and would be happy to assist with my needs. When I arrived the individual behind the desk was clearly a different person. He said no I didn't speak with him, but he could show me where the lamp shades were. He preceded to walk very quickly and far ahead of me , as I was attempting to tell him that I knew the lamp sizes. He rudely and In a very snarky tone said he couldn't know all the lamp shade sizes .... Excuse me ? What are you talking about.? He stopped , turned around and repeated in a rude tone that he didn't memorize all the shades! What are you talking about, I said" I know the lamp sizes" . Instead of acknowledging his mistake, he just said the sizes are on the shade, turned and walked away AGAIN ! Over his shoulder said if you have any questions just ask! I was shocked . I was the only person in the store at that time! It would have been nice if he had taken the time to not walk so fast ahead of me and ask basic questions such as , "did I know how to select the right size shade for my lamp"? I came here for help , not to have someone be rude to me. As a business owner I suggest this person needs some customer training. I was prepared to spend a lot of money on numerous lamp shades. Nice, clean store! Lamps Plus has been in this location for years and years. I recall coming here on my 11th birthday (MANY moons ago) with my parents to purchase a lava lamp! The shopping center is currently undergoing a remodel but this store is the same it's always been. I was in here today and must say that the customer service was stellar. The employees all seemed to be cheerful and helpful, and I was showered with friendly greetings by several of them. It is evident that they are focused on providing superior service - and that's exactly what I had received. The store is very clean and orderly. They have just about every type of lighting device you could think of. While much of their merchandise is outfitted with a premium price tag, there are a good amount of sale items with a yellow tag. I also came across a small clearance area and picked up a few items. Lamps Plus is just as its name entails: lamps, plus much more. I'd come back again! read more

I'm literally standing in this Ventura Location where I've been in the store for more than 30 minutes just trying to find a simple floor lamp and not one representative has come to ask me for help. I literally made eye contact with 3 people sitting at the back desk who were just standing around doing nothing. I just sat there and seen them help 2 other people besides myself and 1 other person who I've seen get the same treatment. It's so sad for this to be my 1st experience in this store in 2023. I actually see everything I need and more but this location will not get my money at all. I'm willing to drive an hour to the next Lamps Plus location just not to deal with this type of service! I stopped into Lamps Plus in Ventura on Telephone Road a few weeks back to look for some high quality lighting for my place. When I walked in I was a bit overwhelmed by all the choices. I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for and luckily for me I was approached by Matt Vasquez (you should ask for him) who asked how he could help. I told him what I was looking for and he guided me right to my different options. I bought three pieces. Two were in stock and the third was shipped to me in a matter of days. We're shopping for lamps now but sadly won't go here. Bought a somewhat pricey LED desk /bed lamp a few years ago. It was supposed to have a 5,000 hr life span, lasted around 1,500 hrs (max.). The original sales guy had been so polite, but this salesman was not. It was startling just how unresponsive he was (often that's what you remember, the attitude). It's likely that lamps are not made to last these days. This chain used to be our go-to for all lamps. No longer the case. read more

We were shopping to replace our victorian style ceiling fan and drove down from Santa Barbara on the off chance we'd be able to find someone who knew about fans. We were attended immediately by Juan, who was helpful and knowledgeable and helped us pick out the perfect fan in less than 30 minutes. The cashier was super friendly and helpful as well, and our experience was top notch. Our style is very niche, and the selection of fans (not to mention lights) was impressive. I will start by saying that I've been shopping at Lamps Plus online for years now. I've decorated 3 homes by purchasing beautiful pieces from Lamps Plus. NEVER had an issue online. Today I spotted a Lamps Plus store and I was very excited to finally visit one of their stores. As I entered there was a sales associate helping a customer. I keep looking around for items to purchase. I saw another sales associate that looked at me then turn around and started helping someone else. It got to the point that I needed help. I saw every associate walking away and didn't want to make eye contact with me. I stood there thinking what was going on. The whole time I was there customers keep coming in and sales associates ran to greet every single one of them while I was ignored. I saw a few items that I wanted to purchase but because of their odd behavior I walked away. When I got into my car I saw 2 ladies walking in and they were greeted right away. I felt dumb by walking into Lamps Plus and flat out being ignored by every associate in the store. I've spend so much money online and I guess I wasn't good enough to stop by in person. Went in today to hit the finishing touches on our home remodeling. Our electrician recommended this place that had a larger selection and stuff we could actually see in person. Walked in and was greeted by salesman Matt V. We described what our tastes were and what we were looking for and he pointed us in the right direction. We poked around and shortly found a chandelier that we liked. We then worked with Matt to go over pendants. He was patient enough to go through the process with us we figured out what we liked there. He talked us through the design elements and helped us feel out what would work best. Once we had those taken care of, he whisked us off to outdoor lighting. We again meandered around and found styles we liked. We are closer to the ocean, so Matt said we would need marine grade lights, and he showed us the few that the showroom had, but after seeing the styles we liked (non-marine grade) he found some similar ones in their catalog online and we got those in various sizes for different locations around the exterior. Finally, he helped us with bathroom lights/mirror. We had been thinking about going for sconces over mirrors but in the end, we decided to go for the LED lights IN the mirror. That was the only minor bummer as the showroom didn't have a sample of that, but we had seen one (I believe the same brand) at another design center. All in all, Matt V. and Lamps Plus made lighting a breeze, now if only they had tile, maybe I could have avoided a few confrontations with my wife :) read more

And she say well we're closing and we're leaving can't believe it the unprofessional way she treated me she ruined my plans of buying some lamps for my house I told her her behavior was very rude against me as customer and she didn't care she went to the back and left me alone without any help, I got here to buy the beautiful stuff the store offers but unfortunately she made my experience so bad and sad . My wife and I stopped in the store today while waiting for our car to be serviced. We were looking for a "Programmable Timer Wall Switch", by Honeywell. It's somewhat of a specialty item, and most places do not stock them. At the front desk, we were greeted by Kami, the store manager. She was both knowledgeable and very helpful! The store had recently sold the last remaining unit that suited our needs and it appeared to be back ordered. Knowing that I would like it yesterday, she printed out the item in question and recommended looking online. I was able to find it elsewhere. I called her to thank her for all her help. Over the years we have bought many items at the store and the staff is always most helpful. On this occasion we where only able to buy the LED bulbs for our project, however, with Kami's help we were able to find the needed timer. It's always refreshing to know you can get honest advice at this Lamps Plus location. We will certainly continue to shop at this Lamps Plus! read more

I came to this store yesterday and a gentleman approached me and introduced himself as Rico. I think he saw me perusing the table lamps with a really confused look since I kept checking tags and was looking for a particular lamp I saw online. Anyway, he seemed quite knowledgeable with the products in-store and answered all my questions regarding functionality and longevity of lightbulbs in case I needed replacements. I haven't been to Lamps Plus for a while. My mom had an antique lamp that wasn't working. I thought it just needed new bulbs. I was right AND wrong. While there, Matt Vasquez helped to get my order started. When he needed more assistance because he realized it needed some repairs, he called Steven M. over. Steven ended up taking it to the back and repairing it. I was worried about how much the repair would he cost. When he returned it to me, he said, "I got it to work and NO charge." I was so impressed and pleased because my mom had to move to an assisted living home and I wanted this lamp there to welcome her. Thank you to Matt and Steven who were both kind, attentive, and professional. Great team working there. Wish their customer service was available in all stores of today. Be warned. I have purchased may floor lamps and lamp fixtures from this store I recently purchased a ceiling fan. I was sold a broken unit I paid to have this fan installed 3 weeks later it stopped working we went into the store to see what could be done about said broken fan, the store manager basically told me that it wasn't there problem because they test everything (I call bullshit on that) I stood my ground and she offered me 10% off I'm in this now for $300 in electrician fees. Then she told me I would have to purchase the fan, again learning that was not true and return the broken one again having to pay another $200 for that one to be installed. I'm now into a $500 ceiling fan for a extra $500 in electrical fees to have it installed. Really 10% is all you can do!!! Guarantee your products. I will never buy from them again. Be careful because they don't care about customer satisfaction it's just the buck.. They sell broken merchandise and don't care... read more

What a great store & staff. I've purchased lamps, bulbs, mirrors, etc over the years & used their rewards program. A few days ago my favorite mirror broke (factory defect) and even though I purchased it 2 years ago & didn't have my receipt, the manager (Kamile Lyn) replaced the mirror with another of my choice & gave me a store gift card to make up the difference owed. So nice! I will return again & again because of the exemplary customer service. Stephen was also really helpful and carried the broken mirror in for me - unasked - and wrapped up the new one and carried that out too. I like this store. I like lamps. I like their displays. What I don't like is their customer service. I went in not long ago for a new bulb and had two different sales people walk away as I was verbally asking where I might find ...while physically showing them what I was there to buy. The third sales person just said, "In the back." That was it. Everybody in a Lamps Plus shirt scurried like rats while I headed towards the back. The fourth sales lady was very helpful and got me all squared away. Never request assistance from Linda at Lamps Plus in Ventura. Poor poor customer service. Had to pick up a specific outdoor lighting half moon fixture. Drove to any and every Lamps Plus needed. Went and picked one up at Chatsworth. There they had told me that Ventura Lamps Plus had one. Drove to North Hollywood Lamps and picked one up from them. North Hollywood Lamps Plus also assured me that Ventura Lamps Plus has one. Well, I called Ventura Lamps Plus and spoke with Linda. She argued with me even though I had kindly told her that her Lamps Plus store had the item specific lighting that I needed. I pleaded with her because I really needed it. And so I still drove to Ventura Lamps Plus because I really did need the half moon pathway light. And to my surprise.... Lamps Plus Ventura did have the half moon fixture after all. Wow.. really Linda. Thanks for your attitude and thanks to your disappointing customer service. I am so glad that all the other Lamps Plus stores were super awesome. So for anyone reading this, I encourage you to still go to Lamps Plus, just don't ask for Linda because she does not provide the basic customer service of checking for the item on stock like all the other Lamps Plus stores do.
