What a cute gift shop! I had gone to this place while in the city of Ventura. We were camping about 30 min away. We on Main St. to go thrifting. One of the gals mentioned they knew the owner of the place that we should check out the store and see if the owner was in town. While waiting for the owner we took a look around and found some cute, fun and funny things! They had a Christmas tree decorated with camping themed merchandise which of course caught our attention. They had a little bit of everything for almost everyone and any age. Well, maybe not for infants at least i don't recall seeing anything for infants. The found the prices on some of the merchandise to be reasonable. Some of the clothing were on the pricey side. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although I didn't purchase the really cute, and funny kitchen towels, I did purchase a couple of stickers (I enjoy stickers!). This business will find me here again if ever in the area. read more

Glad that B on Main safely made it past the Covid pandemic times. It's always fun to pop in to see their colorful and interesting mix of gift and décor items. They've always done a good job of creating small vignettes to show off different themes. This being Ventura, they definitely carry a lot of beach-themed items. One area that caught my eye this time was a section with camping / get outdoors / celebrating the National Parks merchandise. Some very cute and unique stuff to be had in that section. I found something for my aunt to make as a gift. She's making a goal to get around to all of the National Parks, and is steadily chipping away at it. What I got will help memorialize that in a whimsical way. The ladies who work the store are friendly and helpful, which makes the shopping experience even more delightful. This was a super place for last minute Christmas gifts! They had so much to choose see and we chose a few inexpensive gifts (vinyl stickers), moderately priced gifts (hat for nephew about wine) and one expensive one (octopus kite for the grand nephews). Calling all treasure hunters, unique gift givers, handmade/artisan appreciators and home decor junkies! You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't make the time to go through this place slowwwwwly. They have such a vast inventory that I promise you don't want to miss anything (but you will). But honestly, it's literally head to toe items; so beautifully arranged by theme with lots of color. I feel like I'm in a novelty museum whenever I visit! I love to give gifts and they literally have something for everyone. I never fail to find something that is guaranteed to make my loved ones laugh or say "oh my gosh, where did you get this?!" They have something within every budget from fine pieces to novelty chotchkies. I've also become kinda obsessed with rubber duckies because of this place. I mean, I've always thought they were cute since my Bert & Ernie days in the late 80's but this place has the biggest variety EVER! Once I came upon the nurse ones last year, I was hooked. Then, I just recently found out that it's a "Jeep thing" amongst Jeep owners to leave them on each other's cars and now I have a little mini collection in my car to give them out (even though I don't own a Jeep, I just love the gesture...haha). Books, socks, magnets, dish ware, glasses, art work, candles, aprons, clothes, hats, baby shower items, gag gifts, stickers, ornaments... you name it, they have it BUT it's pretty much guaranteed that no other place does which is what I love. The staff are always nice, helpful and sweet; in addition to putting your items in a cute custom bag with tulle ribbon pulled through. We are so lucky to have such a unique, fun place in downtown Ventura. Whether you're local or visiting, definitely add this gem to your list! read more

This shop is one of the nicest small businesses you should support! From the moment you arrive, you will notice that everything has been painstakingly thought out. Even before you open the doors - there are colored chairs on the sidewalk. All arranged from R-B in the rainbow. Then you enter the shop and even more love! Each little section is themed. For example, when I was on today, beach was the first. All the items are beach themed and in pastel blue and green. Including the pastel green tree displaying Christmas ornaments. There is something for everyone here! I found baby socks along with s'mores socks for kids and cycling glasses for fathers day. It's mainly home decor items but there are other items from books to novelty items to wrapping paper and cards. I encourage to go and have a look. We happened upon this shop when visiting Ventura for the first time in February. They carried an artist's paintings that I have tried to purchase in the past without success. They put in an order for me for the "Alpaca and Pals" and let me know when they had it! They tried to have it delivered to us, but when that didn't work the owner was so kind and flexible in getting it to us. We were coming over anyways for a beach day and she met us out front of the shop (with a mask, thank you!) and also gave us a bag of delicious avocados from her garden! I love love love this shop! We drove up from Los Angeles on this day to help the economy of Ventura due to the Thomas Fires. On this day, the ashes were still blowing in the air and the quality was smoky. We found several wonderful gifts for family members which made us laugh, smile and feel good. After a couple of Mimosa's down the block at the Cajun Kitchen, we decided to stroll Main Street. Some stores down here aren't that, uh, nice. But, B on Main is fantastic! If I had a purse full o'money, I would have so much fun in this place. We did end up getting a great t-shirt for Honey. And there were so many items - books, glassware, dresses (soft material, maxi-length - yum), jewelry, cards... I would have loved to splurge. This is the perfect place to find gifts for those hard-to-buy-for people who seem to have everything. Trust me, you'll find something clever and unique at B on Main. I love this place!! It is so cute and has so many different things. Pajamas, mugs, toys, books, home decor, soaps, candles, purses, blankets, jewelry...I could keep going. I've found perfect gifts there for my mom and grandma and will be back to shop for myself. Anytime I'm up in the Ventura area, I make sure to visit this store. It's very shabby chic-ish. I deducted one star because the sales girls got annoyed when I asked them to wrap my presents separately (they wanted to put them in the same bag). Well, what can I say? If you can't find it at B on Main...they don't make it. It is truely a gift heaven. Sometimes the place is so full you can't even move ....no joke. I love their seaside section and the purses. Their doormats are hysterical. My only complaint is the prices....not that they are high....but hidden. I can never find the price on stuff. My favorite downtown spot. I go in at least once a month, just to see what is new. It is also a fav of my girlfriends. Whenever they come to visit, it is a must stop. I love B on Main. I stop in any time I'm walking around downtown. They have a huge variety of cute and silly things! I'm giving four stars because, while the stuff is adorable, it's all pretty pricey. Mostly I'm giving four stars because if you return something, they only give you store credit. This is my new favorite place to shop! Whoever does the buying for this store is a MASTER! I originally gave this place five stars for the creativity but have to take back two of them because today I went in to return two curtain tassels I'd purchased over the weekend and discovered "B on Main" only gives store credit. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone on my last visit. I hope it was just a bad day at B. My out of town friend wanted a sign mounted on the wall. The 2 girls in aprons working there rolled their eyes when we asked to pay for it and proceeded to argue in front of us like we were not standing there on who was going to get the ladder and take it down. And in the background there was the sound of a hysterical woman cursing at someone in tears because her credit line was cut for non payment. She came out of the back area red faced and raging at us that Urban Outfitters next door was out to put her store out of business for fear of competition and the government was in on it to shut her down and had audited her for falling behind on her sales tax. Thank God we didn't have an Urban outfitters bag in hand or she may have killed us with it. My friend and I couldn't get out of there fast enough with that forsaken sign. But what a great story to tell over drinks! You couldn't make it up if you tried. Best of luck to that poor owner. Retail must not be fun. read more
