We had a Defender that was taken to another specialty defender shop that unfortunately did an incredibly poor job. Gord'n quickly found the issues that the previous shopped caused and fixed them. They worked with my extended warranty, who, due to pandemic short-staffing, put them on hold for over two hours! Lamorna's team kept my final total at the deductible for my service plan, which was incredible considering the time they waited on hold, and they worked with the part that my warranty company shipped them which meant storing the truck over the weekend while the part was being shipped. My Range Rover, which I have had zero problems with since I bought it 5 years ago, suddenly started dying on me while I was driving. I would have to pull over, wait for a few minutes and then restart it - but this would happen all the time. Sometimes 5 times in a 20 minute drive, it was crazy. I also had a suspension issue, in which my car would drop almost to the ground. Rather than rushing to the dealership, I asked some friends about independently-owned shops that might want to handle it and was told that Lamorna is THE place to go for Range Rover repairs. As a small business owner myself, I always go this route first. Well, that was a huge mistake. These folks had my car for about a month combined (I had to take it in THREE different times), they repaired a few things that totaled $2200 and guess what? My car came home with the exact same issues I brought it there for. It was still dying, dropping to the ground and was not drivable. So after an entire month of taking the car back to the shop, borrowing friends' cars, taking buses, trying to make it work with 2 little kids who have lots of places to go, I was out $2200 and still had a totally broken car. I called to chat about this and was very nice and respectful about it, even though rightfully pissed, to see if they could offer any sort of solution. I wasn't expecting a refund necessarily, though that certainly seems like the right course of action to take, and the route I would take if I screwed a family out of a bunch of money, but even a rental car offer while they took their time to figure out what was really happening would've been nice. They were completely uninterested and really rude, even turning it around on me, saying they needed more time - HA! Like a month isn't enough time. By the way, we were out of the country for half of the time and definitely not calling asking for updates. We simply paid and came to pick up the car each time they told us it was fixed - so that accusatory excuse didn't sit well with me at all. So, after shelling out a couple thousand to Lamorna, we finally took it to the dealership where they figured out what was wrong with it (pretty obvious fix, by the way) and had it fixed 2 days later. It's worked great ever since getting it back. Seriously regretting ever dealing with Lamorna to begin with. So now, my very-busy attorney husband and I are in the middle of getting our ducks in a row to head to small claims court, with written statements from the Range Rover mechanics stating they wouldn't have had to fix any of the things Lamorna charged me for, in order to fix the actual issues that were occurring. This is not a case of a bunch of things needing repair before getting to the core of the issue. I definitely do NOT recommend this place. Go straight to the dealership and save yourself some serious $$ and headache. read more

Okay, I have to say I didn't know what to think when I called these guys. I mean who are they? I'd never heard of them. Well, I'd never heard of them in the same way that I'd never heard of Paseo's like, 6 years ago. Now everyone and their dog know about them. Land Rover, Range Rover, Series I,II, or III -Def90/110 or Disco I,II -if you own a Land Rover of any type or year, you need to check these guys out. Rear brake pad and rotor change (plus, the bolts needed to be tapped out): Dealer: $550 Biggs: $400 Lamorna: $350 The team are super nice and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. Plus, they know how to get you into the right used vehicle if they so happen to have one on hand for sale (think 1991 Range Rover County/SWB for instance. I so want one). They do it all, just as good and for about 20% less than Biggs (nothing against Biggs, I like those guys as well); and that's saying something. Fact: the name "Lamorna" is a little coastal town in Cornwall, England. And is where the owner (Gordon) grandparents originate. Yeah, I thought that was cool too. read more

Not a great experience. Came in needing brake calipers for my Disco and asked about a rattling noise from my engine. Brake job took quite a while. I did have to order parts on amazon and have them shipped there, but it still was there a while after even though I was told on the phone "doing it today / tomorrow" a few times. Front desk was kinda short with me and seemed bothered I was there. After having the car for about two weeks he claimed he couldn't hear the noise when he drove the car, which is odd because it was very loud and constant. After going to another mechanic nearby, I was told very quickly that I just need a catalytic converter. Maybe they are rude, maybe they are just really busy (there were tons of Rovers outside), but I had a better experience elsewhere. read more

I just purchased a 2004 Land Rover Discovery, and knowing I'm about to embark on more expensive servicing and repairs for this vehicle, I wanted to find an independent mechanic instead of the dealership who could provide an initial inspection and 60K-mile service on it. Gord'n and Lamorna Garage was recommended by a friend with good experiences, as well as other positive Yelp reviews. I wasn't disappointed at all and will be going back for regular service because of his team's tremendous knowledge of Rover vehicles, great communication, and reasonable prices for the good work they do. Lamorna Garage took care of the 60K service and gave a heads-up on a water pump leak, which they repaired the same day. What was great is that they didn't push for an immediate replacement as there was still some life left in that specific part. I like being able to hear Gord'n's recommendation, weight the options, and then make a decision without pressure. If you own a Land Rover vehicle, I highly recommend Lamorna Garage. read more

Gord'n does good work but I brought my 1984 Land Rover 90 down to him as a friend of mine and I wasn't able to get him started, it took him six months to tell me the new pump I had gotten was bad it took me awhile to find a reconditioned injector pump for him it then took him awhile to get that in and it started and while it sat the alternator went out and so did the power steering pump pump. Offer over a year at his shop he's still not done so I am bringing him home and finishing up everything. And while he was there one of the covers for a turning indicator was broken completely off and the cover for the back up light was broken so water could get into the light. This is not how you do business and he really expects me to pay him for the work that was done 19 months I should've had him home and running but nope when your last on the list priority wise this is what I end up with. I finally got my 90 into a different shop to deal with the clutch that froze up not to long after I got him back. The flywheel is needing to be replaced all the teeth in it are gone, clutch master cylinder is bad, throw out bearing is stuck it's nothing but a mess thinking about sending him the bill for the complete rebuild of the clutch. This is just not what's supposed to happen. 19 months is a very long time to have someone's rover. I had to take him to another place the flywheel had no teeth left, the throw out bearing was frozen to the clutch plate I had to get a new master cylinder and slave cylinder, replaced everything I had no choice it was all toast for sitting for so long. My brother adjusted the injector pump and had him running like he should be in less then 20 minutes which is something Gord'n should have been able to do but that's no. I will never take any rover of mine down to him ever again. read more

very bad experience with this business. I waited 3 weeks for an appointment but given I had read reviews that they are good, i waited and had my car towed in. At my appointment I was told that they could work on my land rover but it would take some time to fit me into the schedule due to the size of the job. I waited 5 weeks and no-one contacted me. then I went into the shop in person and was told they still did not have a spot on the schedule and could not tell me; 1. when they could fit me in or 2. it they still wanted the job. I was told they would call me the next day - they didn't. I gave them to the end of the week and they still didn't contact me It would have been nice if they just kept me informed and were honest if they could do the job or not. A waste of time, I'm left with my vehicle still not fixed and I will have to pay twice to have my car towed into another shop. I do not recommend bringing your vehicle to this shop read more

Gordon and his staff are one of the best Land Rover teams in the state. They have done four jobs for me, Radiator/Water Pump,Changed a motor in my drivers side window,but most importantly they were able to identify and fix a very loud squeaky noise that was coming from the rear of my 2006 Rang Rover. About a year or two ago the same noise was happening and another mechanic suggested that I get new control arms and links that ran $600-$700. The staff at Lamorna found the noise which was a bolt that was rusty and they changed it cleaned it out and the noise is no longer there. They did that "complementary". I recommend them to anyone. We've had to bring our 1997 Land Rover in several times (because that's what you do with a Land Rover!) and have always been pleased. Gord'n and his crew are very knowledgeable and efficient. The longest I've ever had to leave the car is overnight, and they've always gotten the car back to my on time. I have always received a reasonable estimate before the work was started and I've never had a bill go over the estimate. I've only once had an issue with a repair: a new starter blew 4 months after they installed it, and they fixed it for free within a day of getting the car in. You should definitely call in advance and be prepared for a pretty large job window, as they are a smaller shop and very busy. All in all, great experiences at Lamorna, unlike many of the other shops in the area I've used and received horrible service from. read more

I have come to Gord'n for repairs on both of my landy's; a 2002 Discovery II Kalahari Edition, and a 2006 LR3. Both have had their fair share of maintenance needs, but I've found the folks at Lamorna to be capable of everything to date. Gord'n is super helpful and responsive over email (seemingly rare in the truck shop business) and the prices are reasonable. I have tried a number of landy shops and Lamorna remains my favorite. They fixed the sloshing sound, which ended up being a coolant issue. The oil change was fast and fixed a majority of the engine ticking we were hearing. My Rover had a check engine light that was interpreted various ways by various places and went through some repairs elsewhere that didn't repair it. Lamorna diagnosed it and got me taken care of. It took a couple of rounds to fix one problem to see another, but they were up front about the costs and the process the whole way. I used to take my Range Rover Classic to another shop but once their best Rover mechanic quit they just couldn't fix anything, so I called up Lamorna. Gordon was eager to help and listened to the symptoms the Rangie was having. He correctly diagnosed an overheating issue that was really random and hard to pin down. Also, he had a look at an inoperable passenger power seat issue and fixed it very quickly. Best of all, the repair costs were about half what I was expecting from my old shop AND Lamorna actually fixed it! Can't say enough good stuff about this shop. If you have anything from a Series 1, a Defender, Range Rover of any generation or a Disco, this is the place you want to take it! I've sent my Discovery 2 in multiple times for water pump replacement,servicing, and other fixes. Gord'n is a no nonsense and very fair priced mechanic. He clearly knows what he is doing and has had many years experience with Land rovers. When my water pump failed I had my car towed there with only hours notice and they were able to fix it in a day. I've been going to Lamorna Garage for a little while for my '97 D-90 SW and now with my '93 D-110 SW. Gord'n is really great at what he does. He really knows Rovers. I recently 'had' to go see him because my truck lost the fan belt on the 520 bridge. AAA towed me to his shop and Gord'n pulled parts off other two engines that were an exact match for my truck (power steering pump pulley,alternator fan), and a new fan belt. These parts went from hard to find to unavailable in 15 minutes. Other shops do not carry these parts, and I was lucky Gord'n had them. I was in and out in 45min., and back on the road again. Hopefully no damage happened during the high temps with the fan belt off, but only time will tell. It is nice knowing that Lamorna Garage is around to work on my truck. I trust them more than Biggs, though Biggs is on the Eastside where I live, I'd rather take the truck to Gord'n...Never the LR dealers! read more

I was in Seattle for business traveling from Portland. I knew I needed new brakes but thought I could complete the trip and take care of it when I got home. Apparently not. Brake light came on my LR3 at 5:45pm while I was stuck in major down town Seattle traffic! Stressed to the max I googled Seattle Land Rover repairs. Gordon with Lamorna picked up the phone, helped trouble shoot to make sure I shouldn't abandon the car rift then and there and agreed I could drop my car off at 8am the next morning. They replaced my brakes and I needed a new battery so they did that too. AND it was cheaper than the land rover shop in Portland! Oh one last thing. When I showed up to pick up my car it wasn't quite ready so Gordon offered to drop me off at nearby restaurant so I could have a much needed glass of cava. We started taking our Range Rover Classic to Lamorna Garage in 1996, They have helped us keep it on the road and it now has almost 350,000 miles on it. We were so satisfied with their service my son got a 1972 Series 3 that he is working with Lamorna to get back to road worthy status. They have access to Genuine Parts and also have a good supply of used parts they can use when appropriate. If it was not for Lamorna Garage we would not have been willing to continue with Land Rover ownership. We drive in from East King County for service, driving past the Eastside independent Land Rover shop to get to Lamorna. I highly recommend that you give them a try.
