I recently purchased a 1992 Ford Bronco through ebay. The sellers name was Todd Kirkman and claimed to be the owner of Kirkland Classics. This was, by far, the worst experience I have ever had with an ebay transaction. The vehicle was misrepresented in almost every aspect as described by the ebay listing. Some of the finer points would be a rag stuffed into the engine block to hide an oil leak and magnets placed on the top of the gas tank to keep the rust inside the tank from getting into the fuel pump. I seldom give negative reviews but after a year of stewing on this, I must. It's embarrassing to say that for $8000 I got next to nothing done on my 75 Chevy pickup that I inherited from my dad. Straw that broke the camels back? Well, one of the items fixed/replaced by Kirkland Classics was the brake lines. Today, had to take it in to Les Schwab to have some tire/wheel stuff done and the mechanic working on it said THE BRAKE LINE WAS INSTALLED TOO CLOSE TO THE MUFFLER and about to break. This is only one of MANY frustrating items of shoddy workmanship found. They literally took advantage of us in several ways.... I took the truck to them, locally, thinking I'd get a fair deal, some guidance and my dads truck in working condition...instead, all I got was a large bill, several headaches and more to fix because of them. *****BEWARE************** This shop is under new ownership and the "good reviews" are from the previous ownership. This was a huge mistake my husband and I made when bringing our 1957 Chevy Bel Air to this shop. My goal is to keep this as short as possible to be the most effective. Being a business owner myself of 3 businesses I would NEVER treat/communicate with any customer the way Sean has done with my husband and I. Sean the new owner is extremely unprofessional, condescending, and lacks the knowledge of the industry he has bought in to. He continues to use the excuse of "I'm from the tech world" as his reasoning for not knowing things, or how to run the business. My dad owning a body, fender, paint shop my whole life I know how business should work. After 59 emails back and forth with Sean there is no way for me to put in a short review about the multiple issues with this shop. The poor customer service provided by the owner, the mistakes on parts orders, and so much more. Honesty is everything in automotive industry and I'm a firm believer of building long term customer relationships vs. trying to take advantage of a single customer and marking up the bill as high as you can. ****Beware his policy is I can do whatever I want +/- 10% because I have a sign by the door***** I put in writing from the very beginning (as this is not our 1st classic car) that any change order needs to be in writing. When we are doing $10k worth of work no I'm not authorizing you to mark up the work another 10% at your discretion. Again this is not my first go around with classic car restorations. This policy was just another nice email from Sean (1 of the 59) Sean it's about long term, repeat business. You won't be around for long if you treat your customers the way you've treat us! Kirkland Classic Cars is the best because they are the only place that will even touch my 1981 Datsun 280zx Turbo. Not only that, but they will thoroughly explain all repairs! They showed me how rack and pinion steering works. For a specialist car shop, they're surprisingly affordable, too. The shop is worth driving by. They've constantly got interesting cars out in the lot, and if you get a peek in the garage, it's a classic car goldmine. Love you guys! read more

Great customer service. Tim is excellent at explaining car issues and is patient about multiple inquiries and general stupidity; he doesn't penalize you nor talk down to you for not being a mechanic. In my case, he could have absolutely skinned me on my car, but he did the opposite... I have a 1970 wagon that my last mechanic declined to fix, and another mechanic gave me a ridiculously high estimate for a particular problem and made it clear that it would not be a quick job. After being angst ridden for a few months over the financial commitment that I was told a particular repair would require, I bit the bullet and took it to Kirkland Classic, due to the consistently good Google reviews they have gotten. I told Tim about the problem, he fixed it for about 1/4th of my latest doom-level repair estimate. He also tightened up my steering where my previous mechanic (from a big, well rated full service shop) was unwilling to bother (last mechanic said "That's just how these cars drive. Nothing can be done about it."). I told Tim and Eric all of this. They got me safely road-worthy in about 48 hours while saving me tons of money that they literally could've stolen without me being any the wiser. And, as I said, they indeed tightened my steering. Proving, as I remembered it, that my steering wasn't "just the way these cars are". The wagon runs better than it ever has since I bought it a couple of years ago. Tim is excellent, the owner is a transmission expert and they'll advise you on future upgrades and tell you how best to do them as cost-effectively as possible. I don't know about the previous review with the '91 Vette. I saw several vettes (and Tim is a Vette guy) there. This sole Yelp! review earlier this year is the only negative review that I've seen in two sites - and I also realize that one can't please everyone all the time. But I do know that if you have a classic car that you care about, want to keep on the road while restoring it over time - or immediately - these are your guys. They help and advise you every step of the way without wasting time and money or treating you like a moron even when you deserve it. They have a body shop, too, so it's full-service, no worries. If you are unhappy with something, they will make it right. I know this review sounds effusive to the point of fake, but it isn't. I have a difficult car that big, well-rated shops did not want to touch; it's a junk heap and rare. These guys did the job anyway. I'm not the only customer like this, either... When I got to the shop today, I was offered lunch - another customer had brought the entire shop lunch because of what these guys did for his car (a vintage Camaro being re-built and converted from an old drag car, which sat for decades upon retirement). Love 'em. My resto will be painful and nickel/dime cheapskate as possible, but unless they kick me out, I'm doing it with Kirkland Classic. read more

Honestly, my expectations were exceeded here. I am the (fairly recent) owner of a pristine 1972 Chevy C20 Highlander pickup, and it's my baby. I was looking for a mechanic that could install an after-market stereo for me (one that was built to identically resemble the original stereo, as I didn't want to make any holes/cut into the dash or alter the vehicle beyond what was absolutely necessary) and take care of a few other things -- new dashpad, new grill emblem, new truck bed liner. Sean took care of EVERYTHING, providing me with detailed information before, during, and after. This is a guy who is deeply passionate about classic cars, understands customers, and is just all-around delightful to work with. Bonus points because he was dealing with an office/shop move (which we all know has got to be a massive pain in the butt) while still trying to support customers. AND this shop does both body work and engine work. I can't tell you how happy I am to have found my new mechanic, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for your classic/vintage vehicles. The reverse went out on my Jaguar x-type recently. I went to many shops for estimates and decided to go with Kirkland Classic Cars. They were easy to talk to via email, they gave me a solid cost to fix the vehicle (rather than a huge range) and they fixed it in exactly the time frame quoted. Transmission repair is never cheap so finding a mechanic that is upfront, honest and does good work is important. I've had the car back for about a week and so far, it runs great! Stay far away from this place. I have never been so completely in awe at how shady a shop could be. After agreeing to a price the bill just kept getting higher and higher, and this was after they did a full disassembly, nothing to hide in there but they sure had an imagination, I told them to stop working on the car and then they held it basically for ransom, wouldn't give it back to me unless I paid the full inflated bill which the work wasn't even done at that point. This whole debacle went on for close to 9 months of me trying to get my car back, he went through countless technicians told me the last guy was in training (doesn't make me to comfortable) was told to call before I came by like they were hiding something. In the end, I have been in the automotive business for 16 years (not mechanics) and I have never seen something so atrocious, this is the kind of shop and owner who makes people leery of trusting mechanics. I ended up paying the bill and having my car "fixed" just to get it out of there, taking him to court would have cost even more money. In the end the car ran awful, my spare parts were all over my interior, it appeared a mouse had been living in the car as well, the entire car was covered in overspray as they don't even have a paint booth in this shop but yet they are painting cars in there, my whole car was trashed. I agreed at a price of 3500 which I paid most up front with his "pre pay labor" (make sure you read that agreement this guy is shady beyond a shadow of a doubt, he basically makes up his own disclosures in the agreement to cancel out a Washington state law) in the end this cost me just north of 8 grand and my car is none the better. This was for a big block rebuild, nothing fancy just a rebuild which he stated as a refresh, I could have bought a crate motor with a warranty cheaper, this guy charged me because he ordered the wrong cam, that's right, he ordered it not me, I didn't even pick it out. I am not one to bash people but this guy is taking advantage of just about anyone he can and once your car is in there he is ready for a legal fight with you to make more money, its a really disgusting business practice. I took my 67 Mustang in for an inspection, compression check and trouble shoot poor performance. They did the inspection asked, told me the compression was fine and found my electric choke was wired incorrectly. All seems good so far. They had so little time into it I asked them to look a little further into the poor performance. They said they could but said it would be a couple days but asked if I could come pay for the work they had already done. Hmmm thought this was a bit weird but I went ahead and paid them and left the car. Should have been asking questions here. Inspection report was a lot of stuff I expected but did not include what the compression readings were. Hmmm? They called me early the next week and told me that they had taken the car for a test drive and brought it back, went to lunch and when they came back found a big puddle of coolant under the car. Water pump failed, timing cover was corroded. I agreed to have them fix it. It was suppose to be done on a Wednesday but the guy working on it apparently had some issues and couldn't get back from eastern Wa. Owen said it would be ready Friday. Hmmm? He told me they had $1300 into it at this point which was at the limit of my willingness to spend. When I went to pick up the car the owner told me he had notice my throttle linkage had a weird bend and it was something I would needs to address. Took the car and headed home. Gave it some juice and noticed it seemed to be idling high, running very rough and had no power at all. Considerably worse then when I first took it to them. Made it half way home and the car started to overheat. It's never done this before! Two minutes later the car shuts down. WTF? Battery is totally dead. I made a call to the shop only to get a voice mail. After screaming into their voice mail I get back to the issue at hand. Spent a hour farting around, had my daughter come give me a jump. Finally got it running again. After making sure it seemed ok to drive I was able to limp it home. Put it away and didn't look at it again for 3 days. When I opened the hood I took a look at the weird linkage the garage owner noted. Its an Edebrock carb. It's the linkage that comes with the carb. I also noticed the cars throttle arm was hitting the intake manifold and not letting carb linkage bottom out. Two turns at the adjustment rod and I fixed my high idle issue. Now I'm wondering what else is going on. Decided to pull the plugs. #2 and #5 plugs only threaded in half way. Now I'm PO'd again. Did a quick look around on the other work and started finding all kinds of issues. Alternator bracket bolts were only hand tight with exception of belt tension bolt. Alternator wires were only loosely installed. Check all other bolts I thought they would have touched. Water pump seemed ok but all of the oil pan bolts were very loose. Things that should have raised questions right off the bat. Front office was a pig sty, shop was a complete disaster area. No organization, clutter everywhere. The mechanic who did the work offered to figure out the issues but after what I found there was no way I would ever take my car back to them. read more

I have been restoring a 1972 Dodge Ram for the last 11 months and have had to go to several different shops to get various things done. Sadly none of them have been able to "do it right the first time" until now. Kirkland Classic Cars is the place to go and the place I will continue to go. If you have the patience, these are the right guys for repairing and improving your classic car or truck. Did I wait longer than I would have liked; yes. But Sean and his team know their way around older vehicles, offer competitive prices (I took two of their service bids, then secretly shopped them around to other auto repair shops) and in both instances their estimates were on par or came under those of other who did not have the same classic car expertise. Was I worried about some of the other online reviews out there? You Betcha! I honestly can't recommend this shop at all. I had 2k worth of work done on my 91 Vet and it runs worse then when I took it in - not to mention all the parts on the car that were never put back on properly or were damaged when they were either removed or reinstalled. Poor. Upprofessional, disorganized, slovenly even for a mechanics shop. Nobody on site does body work so they were supposed to have their roving "body guy" there for my appointment for a buyers inspection, but they forgot. They made me give em a list of stuff I cared about (which I thought was strange). The list included body and underside with estimates but that didn't sink in until I pointed it out as they were trying to settle my bill. So they borrowed a guy from a next door body shop to quickly walk around my car and point out about half of the stuff I already knew, and nothing I didn't. Then when pressed (by me) he made a quick guess that it would cost 5 to 6 grand to fix it all. I might have heard an apology before I left but it was buried in excuses. read more

i brought my vehicle into kirkland classic cars to have it looked at because the engine was getting warm. The gal(Melissa)l at the front desk whom i talked to when i made the appointment didnt even remember that i had an appointment that day when i came, they were all out front smoking cigarettes an treated me like i was bothering them by interrupting their cigarette break. I can also say the gal at the desk has an awful mouth she was talking like a truckdriver and laughing at the top of her lungs until i came around the corner and she turned into mrs fake and phony. I ended up having to leave my vehicle for two days, and when i stopped in to check on the progress, the owner named dean treated me like i was a piece of meat, and actually asked me to go out with him, i politely refused and he asked again, he actually followed me to the car i came in and the person drivingbme heard him sa,y ( come on, i do the best lubing, you must of heard that? i know, cause you wouldnt have brought your car to me if you had not? I was disgusted, and i felt like i was in a trashy place and very very uncomfortable. When i finally picke up my car, the owner dean says tome, theres that pretty lady that wont go out with me.... Nasty place, and very unprofessional... My bill was$ 156.00 more than i was originally quoted, an on the way home my vehicle overheated , and the problem wasnt what they had told me . so now i have a car that is disabled, and i am in a rentalcar ,and i just paid $ 300.98 for a bogus thermostat repair.. The place i took it to this time, said the thermostat had never been replaced, and the coolant was very very low so i got scammed. If you want to feel like you are in a trashy ba,r go to Kirkland classic cars, If you want to get the service you deserve then TAKE YOUR CAR SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

They found and fixed the problem (a seized fan clutch that nearly sent the fan through my radiator) in about an hour, for a price I could afford, and my rig has never run so good!
