Five years ago, my entire basement was flooded in 2 inches deep of water at 2 AM. First, I ventured into the pool in the basement and turned off the main intake valve for the house, then at 2:30 AM I phoned his emergency hotline. A half an hour later, at 3 AM he phoned me back. He instructed me that as long as the water was not turned off, he would send someone at 8 AM. Sure enough, two plumbers arrived at my doorstep at 8 AM, and located and fixed a busted valve. Six months ago, his crew replaced the faucets on two sinks and fixed a leaking drainpipe on one of the sinks. But five months later, the drainpipe began to leak again. This time, Ed himself arrived. As usual, he fully explained to me the problem. I did not hint that maybe the leak had not been properly fixed six months earlier, and was ready to pay for his visit and quick fix. Our first experience with Plumbums was excellent - we had an emergency issue, Jim was able to come…read moreout within an hour or two and get it fixed, and he was on his way. When our pipes froze during the big storm this January (thankfully, without water in them), we decided to hire Plumbums again. That didn't go as well. Quality of work: The fixes Jim suggested (a series of individual junction fixes) seemed reasonable for the repairs needed, but in some cases replacing whole sections would have been more time- and cost-efficient (according to other plumbers we've had in our home who have seen the work done). And we needed four return visits within our first three days living in the house to address issues that had not been resolved or that popped up as soon as we turned systems on. One problem (heat running constantly on our first floor, making the house over 80 degrees in the winter) was unresolved until I researched possible causes myself and communicated that to Jim, who sent out one of his guys to implement the fix. Professionalism: We were frustrated by the lack of care shown toward our property. Jim's guys left plumbing debris (not just the stuff our homeowner's insurance requested, but just straight-up trash), food trash, and drywall dust in our basement and living areas. This means that the first thing we had to do after driving 3,200 miles to move in was clean up after them. Drywall was removed roughly in several locations, and although patching was not included in the estimate, the cuts themselves appeared unnecessarily sloppy (and our new plumber neatly cuts and replaces drywall as a matter of course, leaving the mudding to us, which is fine). Plumbums did work well with our insurance company to get our claim handled, and ultimately we have working plumbing. But our experience wasn't great.

Don't tell someone for 3 months that someone is coming out with scheduled appointments and rarely gets back to you when you follow up not too often but every once in a while will respond with bread crumbs and promises and no one ever comes. Don't waste time with this company. YOU WILL NEVER GET ANYTHING DONE. Also, I read the other bad review and the reviewer got the name correct, and just because the profile says where he lived at one point doesn't mean it wasn't true. The awful owner just was gaslighting. Basically what I went through, but with the receptionist only.
