Large cheese pizza with mushrooms

This pizza was delicious. Their sauce and cheese is authentic flavor. The crust is right on with a crispy bite but not blacken like so many others do. The mushrooms had an added flavor that just highlights the pizza if you like mushrooms. They are fresh mushrooms and not canned like many other places use. This was an order on line and I got there earlier than expected but no problem their seating areas are very comfortable and clean. If you're in the area stop in and enjoy their food. This is not my first posting for this restaurant. Again they get 5 stars because they deserve it.

TWO SLICE LUNCH REVIEW Independence Plaza on South Broad Street, Hamilton, has been a difficult place to attract customers since its development thirty years ago. But, there is a new pizza joint down there now that provides reason for renewed optimism. LaLucci Pizza has been open a few months. I stopped in last week for a two slice and a soft drink (water) lunch. Like most pizza parlor these days, it has several prebaked pies on display for consideration and a grill for hot sandwiches. As a first timer, I wanted to try a basic slice and something higher end for comparison. There was a good looking Margherita sitting up front and a regular pie on the counter, both with a few triangles missing. I asked for one of each, and mentioned that I like my reheats well done. The store manager brought them to me a few minutes later, steam still wafting off the Vulcan surface. They were a nice size. I sprinkled crushed hot pepper flakes on them and went to work. First bite brought a crunchy report from the firm undercarriage. Very nice! No droop. Slightly salty taste to the sauce and cheese. The regular slice was leaking oil onto the paper plate, but not enough to require a demerit. The red, white and green margherita had the same hard edge crust and the pleasant flavor of fresh basil enhancing the chunky tomato gravy. Both were better than the average reheat jobs for the area, and deserving recognition. Happy to oblige with 4 big ones!

Pizza wasn't bad, but the guy who seemed like owner seemed disinterested in helping us. The worker on the other hand was friendly and laughed/joked with us. If you're looking for good pizza then this place isn't bad but if you're looking for amazing service then I hope the owner (or whoever that was) isn't there.

What a wonderful dinner! My family and I took a chance on this new pizza/Italian restaurant and we're very impressed. The inside looks brand new and was modern, clean and comfortable. A young girl behind the counter greeted us and we had our choice of tables. I started asking about the menu and was informed over and over again "yes, it's homemade!" We tried the pasta Fagioli soup which was hearty and flavorful. The Caesar salad with homemade dressing was crisp, zesty, and BIG. Intrigued, we tried the Rice Ball and I was in awe. A full-size arancini filled with gooey mozzarella, rice, ground beef and peas for around $3!! By the time our entree came, which my girlfriend and I were sharing, we were already sold on the place. A beautifully plated dish came out with the blackened chicken Alfredo. It was rich, creamy, and full of flavor from the seasoning which was just right. After dinner, the chef/owner Tarek came out to thank us. He told us we had to come back for lunch, that his pizza features the best quality mozzarella he could get his hands on. He told us how he sources the strip steak for his cheesesteaks from butchers, saying "it's worth paying more for quality, people notice it." Well Chef Tarek, we couldn't agree more. For a scratch-made dinner that doesn't break the bank, you can't do much better than La Lucci.

Delivery to me (in fairness I'm close) has been extremely fast! I've had their pizza once too- pretty darn good. But, to see this "hole in the wall" pizza place knock out these amazingly large, so fresh, salads w meats and chicken--- just excellent!! .... Don't forget the garlic knots!

Inside, the noon lull had settled in with only two other tables occupied and a gentle background hum from the kitchen. It felt calm and unhurried, the sort of place that knows what it is and does not make a fuss about it. The server was friendly in a simple and efficient way. He was not talkative, but he took my order quickly and brought everything out with speed and accuracy. I appreciated the straightforward approach. There is something refreshing about a place that does not try to charm you into staying longer than you intend. In an act that might be considered a small betrayal of the name on the sign, I ordered a cheesesteak with mushrooms, onions, peppers, and a side of fries. When it arrived, it was steaming hot. The first bite nearly burned the roof of my mouth, which was entirely my own fault for being too eager. The steak itself was very good. It was tender, well seasoned, and deeply satisfying in that familiar corner shop way. My single complaint concerns the vegetables. The mushrooms, onions, and peppers were present, but only barely. They felt like reluctant participants. I wanted more of their flavor and more of their texture to give the sandwich a fuller personality. As it was, they took a quiet supporting role when they could have done more. The fries were solid. They were crisp enough, salted enough, and they did their job without calling attention to themselves. Not remarkable, but certainly not disappointing. The total came to just under twenty dollars including a tip. The server seemed genuinely surprised that I left a little extra, which made me feel oddly cheerful. For a lunch that was honest, warm, and uncomplicated, it felt like money well spent. Joey's Pizza does not try to reinvent anything. It serves straightforward comfort food with sincerity. I left with a full stomach and a clear mind. That earns four stars from me.
