Needed some pizza after a long day of helping my friend move. Anthony's was close enough so we ordered delivery. We were craving garlic knots so went with a handful of those. These were not very garlicky and were dry. They are more like dough sprinkled with some a pinch of garlic and salt. The mozz sticks werent much better and I think they were frozen. I would not go with these 2 items again. Now for the star of the show... the pizza. We ordered the chicken finger pie, plain, and margherita. The plain pizza was pretty solid. Your typical nj slice and that is not an insult. Tasted like boardwalk pizza in a good way. We also got the margherita I believe and it wasnt very good. The tomato's on the pizza were bland and didn't taste of high quality. If you are going to do a margherita you need quality ingredients because there aren't many of them on there. The chicken tender pizza tasted like the plain with the topping on it so if you like chicken fingers on your pizza go for it. Overall, I was happy with the plain slice. Time warp pizza parlor with several HD TVs to remind everyone that their prices may be incredibly cheap (a la 1980), but they are still state of the art video-wise. The regular Pizza Slice has a strong firm crust that holds its point even when somewhat cooled (second slice). There is a preference for cheese over tomato sauce, making this a pizza rather than a T. Pie. The taste is good, but the dominance of the cheese makes it a heavier experience with a bit of oil drip, rather than the more subtle flavors that arise when the sauce takes priority with hints of plum tomato, basil, oregano, garlic and even sugar. Not a bad place for a quick lunch with a throwback flair. Even the local constabulary has been known to drop in for lunch. Two slices of regular pizza and a medium fountain drink (iced tea) comes in at $5. Hard to beat! You may not get the sensations of some of the more famous pizza houses in the area (you know who they are), but neither are you being asked to pay a premium for the privilege of manging on a pie with pedigree. Anthony's Pizza Palace is a fun dine down memory lane. The large pies are at most $17., and the dinners top out at $12.95, complete with salad and bread. I was hoping to bump Anthony's up to 5 stars. But, we've tried to call them on a half dozen occasions, and can never -- not ever -- get through. Busy signals, "the number cannot be completed as dialed," the call is dropped, ringing in perpetuity, etc. I'm sure I seem old enough to be confounded by technology (like the cell phone) except I'm pretty with it from a nerd perspective. And I have no problem -- not ever -- getting through to the other area pizza establishments. Does anyone else have trouble reaching The Palace? Once - many years ago, I had a VOIP phone service which caused all kinds of havoc, and I wonder if perhaps Anthony's is using a non-standard carrier. Regardless, I'd love to reach them by phone, but I still like them and their food enough to pop in occasionally. read more

We had ordered a spaghetti eggplant parmesan topped with Italian sausages and two sicilian pizza slices for delivery. Where should I begin, the Spaghetti didn't have no sauce on it, all noodles and there was barely any eggplant . The pizza sauce was so watery that the crust was soggy. There was not much flavor at all. Also, the lady at the cash register was the exact opposite of polite. I ordered a large half pepperoni and half cheese pie. It was so bland. Sauce had no flavor, cheese had no flavor, pepperoni was definitely a cheap brand. The crust was bland. I would of been ok with a little sprinkle of garlic powder on the crust but nothing. I also ordered cheese fries. Now I've ordered many times cheese fries. They're fries smothered in cheese sauce. Not what I received. The fries were cheap. The fries were like dollar store cheap. They were soggy, no salt, no texture. The cheese sauce was in a small container. I had 2 and threw it out. Went back to Anthony's yesterday because I was craving their 'wings' which is really just good fried chicken with some spices mixed into the batter. Well it's was good in the past. Yesterday they were terrible, burnt, dry and came with other pieces of random stuff that was left in the fryer. Also I had to call a bunch of times to place my order before getting thru. I just got a busy signal for a while and I figured they were busy but when I got there I was empty. I'm not sure how I really feel about this place bc usually my experience is coming home to pizza my grandfather ordered and I never seen it handled. Today I walked in and ordered 2 slices to go and it grossed me out that after handling money and other things my pizza was picked up by hand and put into the oven to be heated.
