The channa is always seasoned to perfection, and when you add pepper it has the perfect kick. I've ventured off into trying doubles with meat. I'm more of a traditional doubles girl with no meat but I tried the meat doubles. It reminds me of a mini roti. Still tastes good though. So my dad and step mom wanted me to try the other big Trinidadian restaurant in this area. We grabbed a table and it definitely took some time for service. The server explained that they were short staffed, so we understood. The food was amazing for everyone. I had two doubles and aloo pie. I love doubles and the flavors were on point. I recommend getting your pepper on the side so you gauge it properly. The only downside was my dad who does not eat meat was given a doubled with chicken. I don't normally leave reviews, but this experience really left a bad taste in my mouth literally and figuratively. I went to this restaurant on Father's Day, expecting a good meal and some quality time. Instead, I was served jerk chicken that was clearly old at least two days old by the look and taste of it. Dry, tough, and not fresh at all. For a day that's supposed to be special, that's completely unacceptable. I gave them a chance to make it right and called to let them know, hoping they'd take some responsibility or at least offer a genuine apology. Instead, they were dismissive and rude, and to top it off, they hung up on me. No customer service, no accountability. It's one thing to make a mistake, but it's how you handle it that really matters and they clearly don't care. I'll never spend another dollar here. If you're looking for quality Caribbean food and respectful service, just go across the street to Joy's Roti Delight. They actually care about their food and their customers. So I came out on a Friday night and it was pretty chill. Good vibes, older crowd, everyone's minding their business either eating or dancing. A band came out later that night and played. The music is mostly reggae but there was a moment where the had a little hip hop in there. Around 12 am it can get crowded but no worries this place is pretty big outside. As for food I ordered pholourie which was ok but definitely not the best I had. I also had the Caribbean Jerk Shrimp which came with fries, now this was really good. It was really spicy and extremely flavorful. I wasn't really hungry so that's all I had but overall this was a chill decent spot. Pretty shocked at the amount of food I got for $9. Typically when dining in to Caribbean restaurants prices are jacked up than your usual to go so I was happy about that. Lallo's is always a vibe and I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. The vibe at night is completely different in the day though so if you wanna turn up, come at night. The day time menu is also a little different. If you want specialty plates like the jerk chicken pasta, you have to wait until later on in the afternoon/evening. Most people I know come here for a drink and a late night lime. I tried this place once for doubles and was so disgusted I said I wouldn't return. Years later, I found myself dropping regularly with friends for drinks and also around Miami carnival season. The venue is beautiful and can get really packed late nights. Love that there is so much parking to accommodate everyone easily. Bartenders are normally straight faced but real good with mixing. The music is always a win. Either soca or reggae are in normal rotation and sometimes there is a live band that plans in the open area on Friday/Saturday nights. After several people tell me about the food improvements I finally pop up for a meal. The improvements are quickly noticeable. For one, the amount of food that comes out feels like it has doubled. While the food is plentiful and come out quicker it feels like they have dialed back on the seasonings. But the sauces pack them right back in. Crab cakes were more crab them bread crumbs. Flavoring kinda dull but helped greatly my season sauces. Curry Conch was very good. I had the most tender conch. Wait time was reasonable but when sitting for a late dinner we were told that our server could not bring us drinks? They must be purchased from the bar that was less than a few in front of us? We order at the bar and then told we must pay immediately and then that are drinks will not be served to the table. We have to wait at the bar? seriously were feet from the bar. I later learn that our bartender is very new. Might have been her first day and she had no one else with her. Every drink that we paid for we later learn the bar can't make because it's missing a key part. They were out of banana and pineapple everything. Food was ok. Music ok. The first time I ordered, I waited for service and no one addressed me or asked what I was waiting for. I was ignored countless times until I approached angrily to finally receive my order that had been sitting there. I decided to give them another chance and yet I was met with the same disappointing experience. I ordered at 10:15pm via phone (This is after 2 call attempts and one long hold). I placed my order and no information was taken, yet I figured there were only a limited amount of phone orders at this time. I was told it would be 15 MINUTES. I arrived in said time and they did not have the order. I was told no order was placed. I replaced the order and 15...30...45...50min later I waited. First time here mainly because we got tickets to the Soca wine and food festival. We like wine and good food and enjoy seeking out small businesses to patronage. As soon as we pulled up the music was bumping which is a great sign to me, as I hope the energy of the music matches the people. After entering the covered courtyard there were tables all around some for wine tasting and other business selling items. After tasting the wine on hand we felt the creep of the buzz and was starting to get hungry so we ventured inside to sit at the bar. I can't remember the name of the female behind the bar, mind you she was working the bar by herself, but she was attentive, friendly, and professional. She gave us some suggestions since it was our first time here, so went with some sweet and spicy wings and fries as an appetizer. Those were pretty good per my Wife, I just nibbled on some fries. To drink we were hooked up with Caribbean rum punch and umm we only needed one of those, she did not skip on the Malibu and it was delicious. For our entree we had the chicken resta pasta and oxtail with beans and rice. The pasta was creamy and delicious. My wife sucking and nawaing on the oxtails like no tomorrow lol. The prices were great and the portions were plenty, we had enough to take home for a second meal. If we are ever in the area again we would visit, mind you we live W. Kendall. I ordered two doubles and an aloo pie. The bara (doubles skin) was cold and lacked flavor. It tasted as through the skins were made earlier in the day. Doubles bara skin taste best when freshly fried. The channa (garbanzo beans) inside was bland and lacked favor. The alloo pie was also tasteless. I am very glad I waited to do a review of Lallo's. When I initially visited I had such a horrible experience. Took way too long to figure out seating (seat yourself/wait to be seated), I wasn't greeted, I wasn't assisted when I did finally sit down and then when I tried to reach out for someone they kept ignoring me and then when I did receive service my order was messed up and it took way too long to find out "the kitchen is closing we don't have several things you ordered". So now let's fast forward months later and I believe they've filtered through the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to their waitstaff, service and the ways of running an "upscale" Caribbean restaurant. You can ask anyone and they'd hands down say that Lallo's has the most amazing set up to come out and have a drink. I want to give the band 10 stars! They were amazing. The patio vibe is really nice. It does start to get packed after 12 on Friday and Saturday nights. The band was still playing when we left around 2 am! It definitely turns into a party! Reason for 3 stars is quality of service. We went early so that we can grab a table near the stage to eat something before the band and DJ started. Outside is self seating. We were sitting for a while and weren't greeted any of the waitresses. After 10-15 minutes we had to flag down one of them that was passing by. Food and drinks took a long time to come out. You're better off going to the bar yourself. I had just wanted a snack so I asked for some jerk shrimp on top a garden salad. Shrimp was cooked well but not enough jerk flavor. The waitress we had needed to go back inside so she closed our tab and said she will send another waitress to us and another waitress never came. I do want to give this place another chance and support my Caribbean community. I need to come back here and try out other items on their dinner menu. Maybe it's better to sit inside to eat and then go outside to enjoy the band. read more

This place is so well put together. The restrooms are clean, along with the restaurant it self. The parking is small and the other areas to park are a bit sketchy. On a good night I'm sure they can be competitive to the other West Indian restaurants across the street. To begin, the bake was cold and seemed like it was not fresh at all. It was also extremely thin and flat. Then, the salt fish was extremely salty and very empty inside of the bake. The only reason I gave the restaurant 3 stars was for the great customer service I received. The young lady at the register was very helpful and attentive. I had the chance to try Lallo's on New Year's Day due to the fact that so many other roti shops in the Ft. Laurderdale area were closed. I was immediately impressed by the restaurant itself - large, airy and clean. The service was quick and efficient. I tried the aloo pies (with pepper of course), the duck curry, the roti, the pumpkin and the channa curry. All were delicious, but the aloo pies were the standout! I also tried their rum (black) cake - but that was lackluster, and not a moist and tasty as a true West Indian black cake should be. I only came here because joys was packed and I saw someone mention them on joys page so I gave it a shot last night. The roti are $1 cheaper each but you can definitely tell why. The chana and was halfway hanging out of the thing spilled everywhere and they give you like 2-3 small pieces of dark meat chicken inside. The jerk shrimp was as very salty; it should be relabeled as Salted Shrimp. The fried rice and chowmein was horrible. I'm definitely not ordering any of those again unless they change their recipe. My first visit was after a cricket match so it was extremely packed but the hangout was nice. We heard that there is a DJ or rotating DJs on Saturdays so we decided to go for dinner and hangout. As luck would have it for us, there was an artist (Damian Sookram) performing and the entertainment was awesome. Our waitress was also very good considering we were a group of 15. The pricing is a bit on the cheaper side so that's a plus and there is more than enough parking so that would never be an issue. Manager/Owner spoke to use in a manner that was hostile and unprofessional in reference to my leg being placed on the chair.
