Joys came highly recommended for good Trini food. I was in the area so decided to pick up dinner for me and the hubs. The menu has lots of different choices and I decided to keep it simple and try out their curry and stews. I'm no stranger to ethnic cuisines, and this being my first time trying Trini food, I chose the shrimp curry with rice for myself and the oxtail stew for the hubs. Also got 10 wings and the dhalpourie roti. Took this home and was excited to try. I will say they don't slink on the sides as each container felt like it was about 5lbs each. When I got home I realized why. The portion of rice was 3x the amount of the curry. It was packed full of rice and the shrimp curry itself was small compared to the rice portion which was small in my opinion. It was the same with the oxtail stew. Very little actual oxtail meat. The flavors of both the shrimp curry and oxtail stew was just meh for me. I have made many different versions of oxtail stew, most recently Jamaican oxtail stew and not gonna lie, it was much better than what I got from Joy's. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as mind blowing as I was led to believe. In any case I'm glad I tried it out. I wish I had taken pictures of the food but alas, I forgot to. Onto the wings....it was terrible. I could not eat it. The batter was too thick and had an off taste to it, as if it was old batter. It just did not taste good. The Roti was flaky but very dry. It was stuffed with maybe a dhal paste but it was also very dry. It's good for dipping in the curry and stews but it was just too pasty dry for me. Overall I wasn't impressed. Maybe it was an off day and maybe I'll give it another try since everyone seems to like Joy's.

Joys has been around as long as i can remember. the roti and doubles have to be the best I have ever tasted. and the vibes are always happening. they have a full bar incase you want to get turned up a full menu and a space for parties indoor and outside aswell. if you are in the mood for some authentic Trinidadian cuisine this is your spot

Joy's Roti was my first stop after returning to the states after being stuck in Jamaica due to the hurricane. My friend picked me up at the airport and asked me what I wanted to eat and I told her to surprise me. We ordered our food to go. After paying I headed to the bar and asked for a drink. We sat on the patio and talked about my adventure while we waited for our food. I ordered curry goat and was served enough for three meals. The goat was tender and tasty! It was served with potatoes which were also yummy. I used the Roti to soak up the curry sauce. I would absolutely go back to Joy's for more curry goat! And a special thank you to the bartender for my gin and juice!

I'm based all the way in Port St. Lucie, but somehow... some way... I always find myself "accidentally" ending up at Joy's. At this point, my GPS doesn't even question it anymore....rerouting to Joy's is basically my default setting. From the moment you walk in, you feel that warm, welcoming energy that so many spots try to imitate but never quite get right. The staff knows their craft, the service is consistently on point, and the food? Let's just say I've had full conversations with myself about whether it's socially acceptable to drive back the same day for round two. (Spoiler: it is.) Every dish I've tried has been fresh, balanced, and packed with flavor, and you can tell there's real pride behind what they serve. Whether I'm grabbing something quick or settling in for a longer meal, Joy's always hits the mark. This is one of those rare places that makes you feel like a regular after just one visit

One of the better West Indian places down here in SoFL. Lots of items to choose from, but the doubles seems to be the number one hit. I ordered a few, along with a shrimp aloo pie, and they were equally delicious. The doubles were made with everything on it, and heavy pepper. The restaurant is very spacious, lots of seating. There's a bar towards the back where you can order cocktails and beers. It's pretty standard for a Caribbean spot, nothing to fancy, just order at the front register and take out, or dine in. Staff seem friendly, but a little forgetful. 2 of the times we ordered never came out, but it was on the check, I made mention of it, and it was removed, but it was not an easy process, it took about 10 for them to figure out how to remove something from the check. I'd you're looking for decent doubles, give this place a try.

Years ago, my friends and I would make plans to drive all the way from Miami to Joy's for their delicious food. It was worth the 50+ miles drive each way. Now that I'm often in Broward, I try to stop by whenever I can. It's one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I really love Bake and Shark, doubles, roti, and curry dishes. They also have snacks, ice cream, and unique drinks. There's a lot of parking in the plaza. Sometimes the venue throws parties, it's always a vibe.

Delicious food. They got plenty of seats. To go order works fast as well. Employees are very friendly. Wide variety of items on the menu. From sweet to savory, they got it all. Their curry chicken was so good. Their tamarind chutney is delicious and unique. Brand new experience with Caribbean food. Would go again.

Tasty doubles! I always make sure to stop by if I'm in the area, they have a wide variety of sweets and drinks as well from Trinidad The service was quicker than I expected and they picked up the phone right at 9am. The server was very patient and answered all the questions we had. It's a very spacious place and I'll recommend going if you're around.

Easy parking , Good Vibes inside , easy to order at counter or sit at a table

What a nice experience! I've never had Trini food before so this was a first time for me. Went for a post church brunch with my friends and the food did not disappoint. It was quite a drive from where we were so I knew it would be worth it. I ordered a Aloo pie which kind of reminds me of an empanada but larger. It was delicious, but I couldn't finish it all because it was too much lol I ordered the curry chicken rice bowl with the peas and rice. The curry chicken was soooo good! Heavy on the curry but that flavor is so yummy! The peas and rice were also delicious and they garnish the food with some cabbage. They also gave us this type of pull apart bread for those that ordered the rice bowls, I wish I can remember what it's called but it's used to grab the food with your hands. That's the first time I've seen that but nonetheless, it was great! The rest of the table (it was about 10 of us) all said their food was super tasteful and absolutely worth the drive! The vibes were great, loved the music that they were playing and the service was on point, especially for it being a large table. The waiter was very patient. I'd def recommend for those who are in the Lauderhill area!

We walked in and told the girl at the counter that it was our first time trying Trini food and she had no reaction and didn't even help us with the menu. Me doing my own research and asking friends before going there is what helped us out. We ordered doubles, wontons and pholourie. EVERYTHING WAS FLAVORLESS AND STRAIGHT UP NASTY!! The pepper hot sauce is what saved the doubles..... I'm sorry but I hope all trini food don't taste like this. I was told to try a place called Singhs. Hopefully it's 100 percent better than this place!!!!!

Absolutely incredible. We were told to relax, take a seat, and the food came straight to us, hot and full of flavor. They checked in, laughed with us, and made us feel right at home. The ambience was on point with sweet Caribbean music pumping, real West Indies energy in the air. They were even thoughtful enough to check if the music level was good for our kids, which says everything about their heart. Honestly, it felt like we stepped out of Florida and got teleported straight to the islands. My wife was smiling ear to ear, the kids were doing their little dances, and my belly was happy, plus I had food to take home because the portions are generous. I was more than happy to spend my money at a place that truly gets it right. The prices were well priced also. We'll definitely be back for more goat roti, bussup, and veggies. If you're not good with spicy foods, ask for anything with peppers to not include them. My husband ordered the stewed boneless chicken with paratha roti and pumpkin plus potatoes as sides. The roti was fresh and hot. The pumpkin was my favorite. The chicken was easy to eat and tasted good, not dry. The potatoes were soft. I got a double and it was amazing. Lots of tamarind flavor and some curry and cumin tastes. I love chickpeas and there were plenty of it stuffed inside. Gotta eat it quick or else the shell becomes soggy. I also ordered a bake and shark. First time trying it. The crispy texture of the fried fish plus the soft outer shell along with the lettuce and tomato all tasted delicious together. However, the fish was way too salty for me. After the first few bites, I couldn't eat anymore of it. My husband who has a much stronger taste palette even agreed it was on the salty side. Will definitely come back to try more items!

Service is always fast and friendly, and you can either dine in or take it to go. When you walk in, you order at the counter. They've got the hot food station right there with options displayed behind the counter so you can see exactly what you're getting (dangerous in the best way lol). Some items -- like the rotis and fry bakes -- are cooked fresh when you order. Then there's the fresh doubles station, where they assemble your doubles right in front of you. I've stopped in plenty of times before, but these past two weeks I was deep in my Trini breakfast cravings, so I went twice and tried two different classics. First visit: I got a fry bake with all the things -- baigan choka (grilled, mashed, seasoned/spiced eggplant), tomato choka (grilled, mashed, seasoned/spiced tomatoes, fried aloo (potatoes), buljol (shredded saltfish with tomatoes, onion, peppers done the Trini way), and smoked herring sautéed with Trini herbs. The breakfast usually comes with the fry bake or sada roti and 2-3 sides... but listen! Everything looked too good, so I ordered extra sides. And I'm glad I did. It was flavorful, comforting, and honestly reminded me of my mom's home cooking. A real-deal Trini breakfast. Second visit: I went back for the bake and shark -- because if it's on the menu, I'm ordering it. Another iconic Trini classic street food, cooked fresh when you order. The fry bake was soft and fluffy, stuffed with perfectly fried shark, and topped with a nicely seasoned lettuce/coleslaw-style mix. Great size, super satisfying, and absolutely hit the spot. And yes -- I always ask for their in-house hot pepper sauce. They make it fresh daily and it has a serious spicy kick (the kind Trinis appreciate). Even though I went for breakfast, everything in the hot food station looked so good that I couldn't leave without grabbing boneless curry chicken with paratha roti to take home for later. They also have a bone-in chicken option, because some of us Trinis need the bone for full flavor, okay lol but I got boneless. I've had their paratha before -- soft, fluffy, and perfect for soaking up curry. Their curries are always well-seasoned and full of flavor. By the register, they sell traditional Trini snacks and sweets -- things like kurma, chocolates, and fudge. I grabbed the fudge this time and whew... it was rich, creamy, and dangerously good. Like "why did I not buy two?" good. You do get 4 fudge squares in the pack. All in all, I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. I've never had a bad meal here, and I'll absolutely keep making the drive whenever my Trini cravings hit again. Tabanka stays delivering

My husband is from the same country and told me the food is excellent and authentic. I really appreciated the cleanliness of the location too. Food Pholouri 12 pieces of soft deep-fried dough. Reminds me a bit of Brazilian cheese bread. Boneless Chicken, something I forgot. Roti dough is similar to naan bread and pita bread. Made Fresh She makes everything fresh and on the stop to ensure the highest quality.
